Saw this on my travels in Ireland. This type of road is known as a boreen (from the Irish bóithrín, meaning a small road). They are narrow, country roads that are covered in Tarmac, but often have grass growing down the middle. The sign is "No overtaking".

yeah this funny, and I notice this Flash stole rosco's dairy book in dukes farm maybe she hate his dairy book..
If you remember, at the beginning of that episode Rosco was filling in his diary and trying to lie about how much Boss pays him - every time he exagerated the amount Flash would bark until he finally got realistic. With all Boss's schemes in it, no wonder Flash hated the diary.

Good film, I watched it recently. Capt_Redneck was correct in identifying the main car as a '69 Dodge Charger, but 3 cars were used: 1969 Charger R/T; 1969 Charger (non-R/T); 1968 Charger. I think the '68 was only shown from the front, but the car clearly loses its split grille in some scenes.

Thought I'd put up a couple of pics of Sorrell before he became Boss Hogg.
The first is from a Dukes book I have. In 1962 he played the title role in the musical (stage production) of 'Fiorello!'.
The second is from one of his 2 appearances as Gen. Wilson Spaulding Barker in the first season of MASH in 1972.

On the DVD commentary John mentions the balloons were put in front of the banner to cover something up, but he couldn't remember what.

Couldn't wait - it's been bugging me that I couldn't find John ever since I found out he was in SATB (Ben and Sonny are a lot easier to spot). Got home, found DVD, then searched this forum and found MaryAnne had posted some screenshots from SATB a few years ago, but sadly they're not there anymore. So I had to resort to Google which took me to CGLFC's website for the answer. These are grabs off my DVD which is from the region 2 Pursuit Pack. Despite the guy in the white shirt looking like Bo, John is apparently the guy in the dark shirt with the black cowboy hat on (thanks for the pointers dukefan1, I'm sure you knew that already).
That's another of life's great mysteries solved - I think I need a lie down now:).

Tell me about it. One of my relatives from Barnsley moved to France and married a Frenchman. The kids were raised speaking French and English, but when they started learning English at school their teacher couldn't understand their broad Yorkshire accents, so they virtually had to start from scratch:).

Actually it was rainy in repo men and another episode when the dukes are hiding boss hogg at there farm it is dark too
I know it's not sunny daylight 100% of the time - if it never rained, how would the Hazzard carwash ever fill up:). I was generalising a bit, but in the main you have to admit 'sunny daylight' covers most of the episodes. I stand to be corrected, but I don't remember seeing the General's headlights on (until one of the recent films), and only saw the covers raised occasionally. Of course Repo Men was one of the episodes filmed in Georgia, so rain was more likely.

I've known for a while that John was in SATB - I think he mentions it on one of the DVD extras - but never managed to spot him. Now I know which scene to look in I'll dig the DVD out and watch it again (after I get to the end of DoH season 4 - it'll give me time to prepare for Coy and Vance:)).
Are there any screen grabs of his appearance on this site? - I'm fairly new here, and ploughing through the threads as quickly as I can.

What year is the Vette from Austin Powers? I've never see the movie. I'm a big fan of the mid 60s hard tops.
Afraid it's a soft-top - the one from The Spy Who Shagged Me. Box doesn't give a year, and the net gives it anywhere from '65-'67. According to IMCDb the car in the movie was a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray [C2]. The Mako Shark is another soft-top, and from '61, but it's the gorgeously detailed AutoArt version.
Forgot to mention in original post, I also have a model of a 1955 Chevy 3100 pickup. It came in Teal, but I'm in the process of converting it to the beige truck Clint Eastwood drove in Every Which Way But Loose complete with toolbox, new mirrors, seat and bumpers. It's my first custom job, and it's on the back burner at present. Maybe I'll get back to it after the summer.

Well they managed to find room for the nearby Pencil Museum (www.pencilmuseum.co.uk if there are non-believers out there). Didn't have time to visit it as I wanted to go to the house used as Uncle Monty's cottage in 'Withnail and I' just down the road in Shap - it was sold a couple of months later. Also stocked up on Kendal Mint Cake.
I was born in Dorset (think there's another forum member from that neck of the woods) but am Yorkshire on my father's side, and visited the Barnsley area regularly when I was younger. Just remembered - I actually visited Barnsley and Sheffield on the way back from Keswick.

Didn't know whether to post this here or in Hobbies - I'm sure the forum mods can move it if they wish.
Since getting CorelDraw I've been playing around with vector-based artwork, and thought I'd have a crack at General Lee. It's still work-in-progress as I keep thinking of details to add/change.
Basically it's a mixture of styles - crossed flags from Geogia episodes, wider nudge bar, red Georgia plates, headrests from Lee 1, white letter tyres etc., but being vector-based they're all easily changable. If anyone has Corel or Illustrator and is interested, please PM me and i'll email you a copy. Alternatively I could send a PDF if you just want a print out (if anyone has 1.65Mb of online storage they could make it downloadable).
I've included a couple of smallish jpegs to look at. If you spot any glaring errors, please let me know (politely) - constructive feedback is always appreciated.
I've also done the Boars Nest sign, and am currently working on a single view of a Plymouth Fury Hazzard sheriff's car. Non DoH cars I've done (all single view) are: 1966 Mustang; 1970 El Camino; Starsky & Hutch Torino (1/2 finished); Christine (nearly finished).

Strange what WB will sue over. I used to do work for a guy in London who built TV sets. His company logo was based on his intials - NB - and although it was noticably different, WB sent him a letter asking (maybe asking is the wrong word here) him to change it because they said it was too close to theirs.

Just wondering who everybody's favourite (I'm English - we spell it that way:)) guest stars/cameos were. I mentioned in another post that mine were Henry Gibson, Charles Napier and Robert Alda. They all looked like they enjoyed playing their parts. It was also good to see Mel Tillis who was in a few films around that time including Cannonball Run, SATB 2, and Every Which Way But Loose.
There were also dozens of familiar faces, mainly crooks, who have me diving for IMDb to find out where I know them from (am I the only one who does this?). Usually it turns out they were in one or more of the following: A-Team; Knight Rider; CHiPs; Fall Guy etc.

Visited the Cars of the Stars museum in Keswick in late 2008. He's got some great vehicles, but could do with some more space to show them at their best (I think there are more in storage). I was also disappointed that no photography was allowed inside unless you spent about £40 in the gift shop.

Way back in the days of 486s and early Pentiums I used to build PCs part time. I still remember a Soyo motherboard manual that had been translated into "English". In the days before USBs and Plug n Pray (sic) computers everything was set up with little jumpers. In the manual section for setting the Com ports it contained the line "??? I do not understand this bit ???". If the guy writing the manual doesn't get it, what chance did I have?

As we all know, costume changes didn't happen often in Hazzard. Everyone is familiar with Boss Hogg in his white suit and hat, but I thought it would be fun to remember the times Boss changed his outfit. I'll start you off with 2:
Baa, Baa White Sheep - Boss puts on a black suit while pretending to be his twin brother Abraham Lincoln Hogg.
Goodbye General Lee - Boss wears a racing suit for the publicity shots he's going to use when his car wins the Drag 'n' Fly.
Well done to all the old movie buffs who spotted my thread title comes from the 1951 Ealing Comedy starring Sir Alec Guinness.

Sorry to come late to this debate, but I thought I throw my 2 cents in.
I like most of the ideas so far and agree it should include as many of the original cast/crew as possible. As for 'next generation' of Dukes, I can't believe at least one of the cousins didn't adopt from the orphanage they always supported so well. This could set up new characters who may have been on the wrong side of the law in their younger days, but now in their late teens/early 20s have Bo, Luke and Daisy to give them the moral guidance that Uncle Jesse imparted to them.
It would also be important to recapture the 'feel' of the original. Remember, it never rains in Hazzard, or gets dark (you lucky people of Georgia
). They also need to remove the interference of the West Coast execs who don't understand the South - I know most of the episodes were filmed in California, but if it were set there would we still be discussing the Dukes of Orange (County) 30 years later?.I'll have to admit that it will be strange seeing the General being chased by Crown Vics rather than late '70s Plymouths and Dodges, and I can understand people who believe you shouldn't go back, but I think it could work if it's done properly.

So, who's your favorite character?
I knew this question would come up, and still don't have a good answer. It seems to me that pretty much all the cast with the exception of Jesse, Daisy and Boss got substituted for various reasons at various times. I don't even think Coy and Vance made a bad job of it after their first couple of episodes, but they were always on a loser with the yardstick of Bo and Luke to be measured against. I'd say the casting crew did a very good job (something they failed to do in the recent films) with the regular cast and there were some great cameos, my favourites being Henry Gibson, Charles Napier and Robert Alda (check out Robert playing against his son in M*A*S*H).
Overall I'd have to say I'm dodging this one, but I can't imagine watching any episode without Waylon's narration.

Hi there. I'm an Englishman who's been living in Ireland for the last 7 years. I'll be 40 this year which means I've been a Dukes fan for about 3/4 of my life.
I'm currently re-watching every episode from the beginning - I'm up to 'Goodbye General Lee' in series 4 at present, so I've only got 75 episodes and 2 (good) films to go!
I finally got 'round to reading Ben Jones's 'Redneck Boy in the Promised Land' this year, and recommend it to anyone who hasn't.
On the hobbies side, I collect 1:18 scale diecast cars, most of which are muscle cars from the late '60s and early '70s, and include 5 Dukes cars. I have also recently been playing around with vector based artwork again. So far I've done a top, side, front and back view of the General, recreated the Boars Nest sign, and am now working on a Hazzard patrol car (1978 Plymouth Fury).
