Does your hometown remind you of Hazzard County?
RogerDuke replied to LoriDavenport's topic in General Discussion
Hey lukefan, last night, I was thinking about this question that you have posted here. I wasn't exactly in my hometown but I was in the closest small city near it. I went to a minor league baseball game (Erie Seawolves in Pennsylvania). Between innings of course they do various things like playing music. They played "What was I thinking?" and I got to hear the part "hood sliding like Bo Duke". It was awesome. Even a city like Erie can remind a feller of the dirt roads of Hazzard County from time to time. LOL I'm gone. -
Sorry, the only one you got right was Bluebird Canyon. Those were a little too tough. I could see why you'd pick Winnie's and not Vinnie's. For some reason Vinnie just doesn't sound as "country". Woops, now I'll get a nasty post from some good 'ole country boy named Vinnie. Anyway, the Stovalls were on seperate episodes but, as I recall, they made no mention of them being related. They might have been brothers or cousins. They were about the same age.

Lukefan, the answers to yours are, Play it again Luke, Tiger by the tail, and Cool Hands Luke and Bo. (For some reason, they listed Luke first, usually it's Bo). I wish Country Boy can Survive would have been on. That's my all time favorite song (even though Charlie Daniels didn't record it) Here's 4 tough ones. Which were on the show? Bluebell Canyon or Bluebird Canyon Vinnie's Diner or Winnie's Diner Claude Stovall or Clarence Stovall Dewey Stovall or Hughie Stovall If anyone can get 3 of 4 I'll be impressed.

Well, I guess I'd better give the answer to that last one, it's Waylon Corners. Here's another...from "Opening Night at the Boar's Nest". The tall guy (probably 7 foot) is an actor named Kevin Peter Hall. What Arnold Swarzenegger tough guy movie did he play in?- 3,832 replies

Thanks Redneck Woman, I think you're right. That's the one I had listed on the bottom two lines of my last post. I think I remember Cooter mentioning Hard Labor Creek. They have to cross into Hatchapee County and face Emmitt "Spike" Loomis. Some of the other landmarks I have on that map are Willet Bridge, Miller's Swamp, Pine Hollow Road and Calico Junction. They take Route 104 to get there. Choctaw County is north of Hatchapee County on that map. Does this sound right to you? Thanks for helping me match the episode to the map. Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.

Hey lukefan, It wasn't a good idea that you put it on the Hazzardnet that you have a tank in the middle of Hazard. You know, ever since Hard Luck Jones got in trouble with making moonshine (episode: Follow That Still) he's been looking for another vehicle. What better place to hotwire it than your town (even though it only has one Z) -
Wow Daney, thanks for this info. Is this an annual event? I'm going to see if I can make it. It's kinda short notice but hopefully I can pull it off. I'm gone

According to Jesse, the wedding gown that Daisy ("Enos and Daisy's Wedding") had on was worn by Lavinia when she married Jesse.

Does your hometown remind you of Hazzard County?
RogerDuke replied to LoriDavenport's topic in General Discussion
The thing that reminds me the most of Hazzard around here is the dirt roads. My dad reminds me of Uncle Jesse (minus the beard). He's an old redneck who would rather be outside than in...and yes...he drives a white Ford pick-up!!! We only have one cop in town and one traffic light (that's one less cop and one more light than Hazzard has). I wish we had a square and gazebo like Hazzard does. That always adds a nice Hazzard-like touch to a small town. Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone. -
You got 2 out of 3. Boondocks Pike is from season 7.
-
Hmmm....I'm wondering who made them.... Readable maps (thank goodness for pause buttons) appeared on the following episodes. Farewell Hazzard Boss Behind Bars Cool Hands Luke 'n Bo Randsom of Hazzard County Double Dukes Treasure of Soggy Marsh I do have another map but I don't have the episode listed with it. It lists Chocktaw County and Hatchapee County bordering Hazzard County to the west near Hard Labor Creek.

I hope we hear from Jim Bronke again. That is pretty interesting. Jim Bronke never appeared on the show (the real one or the ficticious lawyer) but hopefully we can get more information from him. If he is still friends with Dan Maltese, that could make for some intersting questions...hmmm. Anyway, I'm repeating my last 3. Which were on the show? Garth Brooks or Donna Fargo Northern Pike Road or Boondocks Pike Basset Lake or Hound Dog Lake

Yep, Saved by the Bell, it is. Here's one from "Danger on the Hazzard Express". When the Dukes were near Eagle Point and stranded without a car they ended up at a rural bus stop that had a pay phone. This place had a really cool name. It was (blank) Corners.- 3,832 replies

Hey Jim, If you're the real deal, your name may be the second most shown name on the entire series behind J.D. Hogg. There are hundreds of scenes in the seven seasons the show aired with the Hazzard County Building sign in clear view. The first 5 episodes were filmed in Georgia so it didn't pop up until right after that. I know it wasn't on episode 6 but it was first shown one or two episodes later. In season one, the sign read: Hazzard County Building Jim Bronke-attorney Axtell Bail Bonds Hazzard Library Dept of Records Farm Bureau Water and Power Different things changed in the sign through different seasons but I think that Jim Bronke remained through the entire series. Nice to "meet" you.

In my efforts to gather items to make the ultimate map of Hazzard County (and town), here are my final totals after watching all 7 seasons. Residents (homes, not individuals) - 185 Businesses - 161 Roads - 154 Water (creeks, lakes, swamps, ponds, etc) - 73 Landmarks (canyons, caves, mountains, bridges, hollows, etc) - 168 Neighboring counties (including towns, bosses and sheriffs) - 67 I realized at the start of season 5 that I could use closed-captioning to check on spelling so I'll have to rewatch the first 4 seasons to recheck some things (*grins and yells "Yes!!!"). Unfortunately there are a lot of errors on closed-captioning so I'll have to use some discretion. I gotta go...Now where'd I put that poster board?..I'm gone!!

You got all three General Lee!!! Lester Flatt is a bluegrass legend. If I'm not mistaken, he sang the original Beverly Hillbillies theme with Earl Scruggs. Can anybody confirm that? I don't know which one did the vocals. Which of these were on the show? Garth Brooks or Donna Fargo Northern Pike Road or Boondocks Pike Basset Lake or Hound Dog Lake Speaking of dogs, I took my grandson to see Underdog. The ficticious city it was filmed in is Capitol City. I didn't see the General running around anywhere though. LOL

You're right B.L. It was Boss. Hey lukefan, the ending in that episode was awesome. It was great to see Terry Lee get adopted. I must admit when I saw that episode when it originally aired, I never saw that coming. Like 'ol Waylon says "In Hazzard, we tend to like happy endings" Here's a question from "Cale Yarborough comes to Hazzard" Actor, Dennis Haskins makes his fourth (at least) appearence on the series. After Dukes he went on to be the principal in a popular Saturday morning sitcom (not a cartoon). His name was Mr Belding on that program. What show was it?- 3,832 replies

Those pictures are awesome. I had a huge smile on my face the entire time I was checking them out. It must be great living in Hazard and seeing "Hazard" written all over the place on the businesses and signs and stuff. I like to imagine that my small town is Hazzard and it's residents are Hazzardites (once in awhile, I call my mechanic Cooter). I would be thrilled to live in a real town with that name but I guess I'll just settle on pretending I do. Thanks for the pictures lukefan. Those made my day. I remember reading about that visit in our local newspaper here in northwestern Pennsylvania (Dukes was so big then that it got press everywhere) but until now I'd never seen pictures of it. Thanks again. Possum on a gumbush. I'm gone.

Nice job, B.L.!!! Boss Hickman is from Clairage County and only appeared on the series once. Western Auto was in the original Georgia episodes but never appeared in California. Which of these were on the show? Lester Flatt or Henry Flatt Shelby Road or Mustang Road Boweevil Lake or Cotton Lake

That one might be easy but it has me scratching my head. I know that the manager of the orphanage is Ira Grant and Mr Winkle works in the dog pound. He is a different Mr Winkle than the one in "The Haunting of J D Hogg". If you ever saw Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (from the early 70s I think) the kid's voice sounds a lot like Rudolph's. Here's one from "When you wish upon a Hogg". Which one of Boss's relatives visited in this episode? Hey, lukefan, if you don't get an answer soon, will we get a hint? How about the first letter.- 3,832 replies
