"You can call it fate. In Hazzard County It's called Duke luck. But something led Bo and Luke to that Capital City junkyard and right up to that wreck of an old black Charger. Sounds like a song old Willie would sing doesn't it?" Waylon from "Happy Birthday General Lee. (Willie is a reference to Willie Nelson)
I think that episode is the only time they did use the word Charger. It was when the boys first laid eyes on the black 1969 car and Waylon said something like "that old wreck of a Charger"
Does anybody remember what model the old Richard Petty race car was?
The thing that I like about dirt tracks is the way the cars fishtail on the turns....I believe kids call it drifting. Whatever you call it, it's fun to do and fun to watch. That's why I like dirt bike races too. We have a track up here called Holeshot that I go to.
I'm getting pretty excited about the local dirt track opening up here in Conneaut Ohio soon. (I live just across the line in Pennsylvania) I try to make it every Friday night and I always wear a Dukes shirt and orange 01 hat.
I'm still here and it sure is good to hear from you. How ya been? Yep, It's been slower than the old days but even though the quantity of folks isn't high the quality is.
Thanks so much for sharing this Mark. I'm excited about visiting. I just love Ben. He's a true fan of the show and would have been even if he would have never been an actor on it. He really is someone we can all look up to.
I just was looking through some of these old threads. I've been an amateur astronomer for over 20 years and this comet prediction was by far the most disappointing thing in all that time. It's funny to see how I was hyping it up but I was only repeating what the professionals were saying.
I've wondered that too Hobie.
Hmmm, this makes me wonder if there was any kind of copyright on the term "Ridge Runner" at the time. Maybe they couldn't use it.
My fantasy NASCAR team in Garrett's league is called "Jesse Duke's Ridge Runners"
It looks like it's as wide as the Charger there which surprised me since it's a smaller car. I suppose that makes sense though since a wider car can handle turns better and Jaguars are known for their performance.
I go to a lot of dirt track racing (oval shaped track) and It's always funny to hear people after a wreck. If car #23 gets in a wreck with car #44 the fans of car #23 blame the driver of car #44 and the fans of car #44 blame the driver of car #23. It happens every time! I guess that's called human nature.
