In Hazzard, the more things change, the more they stay the same. This is also true at Cooter's Place in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. About a year ago, Cooter's in Gatlinburg relocated to nearby Pigeon Forge due to unforseen circumstances. The new location does not have the 'familily fun center' gocarts and indoor mini golf. As many of you know, Ben 'Cooter' Jones owns and operates 3 Dukes of Hazzard attractions in Tennessee and Virginia. The Virginia location, which was located in Sperryville, has recently moved location a few miles away to neighboring Luray, Virgina. The new Luray location is the biggest venue he has ever had- when it is finished it will have a retail store, Daisy's Diner, Dukes of Hazzard memorabilia museum, and will house replicas of the General Lee, Boss Hogg's Caddy, Roscoe's Patrol Car, Cooter's tow truck, and others. I've just seen the sad news that Clifton James has passed away. Known to millions as Sheriff J.W. Pepper in the James Bond movies 'Live and Let Die' and 'The Man with the Golden Gun', he was known to us Hazzardites as Sheriff Lester Crabb in 'Treasure of Hazzard'. He died yesterday (Saturday) due to complications from diabetes. He was either 95 or 96, depending on whether you believe the date of birth quoted on IMDb or Wikipedia - the news outlets all seem to be going with 96.

I have no pity for all these used to be rich stars who get into financial trouble. They are stupid!! He said he was really hurt when his studio flooded etc. I guess he never heard of insurance!!

Do you guys remember the crooked sheriff in Cool Hands Bo and Luke? Cashius Claiborne I think? It seems he was in the original movie, Cool Hands Luke and played a similar part in this TDOH episode. I saw where he died at 93, but can't get the article to copy/paste for some reason. I think he was in one or two other DOH episodes, if I'm not mistaken....

Just found out Bo Duke is going to be on "Dancing With the Stars"! My wife loves the show. I'll watch it occasionally just to hang out with her but never really paid too much attention. Now I have a reason to watch. I bet they'll be doing a lot of jumps.

Burt Reynolds passed away today. He and Jimmie were close. I still remember at Jimmie's 75th birthday, he was surprised by a video birthday message from Burt (and Paul Newman too). It was so thoughtful and great. He'll be missed.

It looks like the British police have finally done what Boss and Rosco struggled with - they've caught the General Lee. The car in question was a replica which had broken down with gearbox trouble (I thought the General only got the vapors!). The police took the opportunity to make a couple of tweets, but admitted that the car was "fully road legal" and no offences had been committed. Full story at www.bbc.com.

I grew up with the show, but have had a stronger resurgence of my 'fandom' in the last few years. I dove heavily into the show since then and have come to understand why it appeals to me. I'm not a Dancing With the Stars fan but my wife is. I've never even heard of most of the "stars" on there. Since my wife watches it I will sit on the couch occasionally with her. Last night was the finals and one of the songs they were playing was California Girls that mentions "Daisy Dukes" shorts. They then immediately went to a commercial and the commercial after that was one of Bo and Luke's AutoTrader commercials.
