I unfortunately slept through them . I was so exhausted from mowing lawns and planting a flower garden that I fell asleep around 8:30 didn't wake up till 6 this morning. I had every intention of driving a few miles out into the country to see them. Local meteorologist say there's another chance we might see them tonight so I'll definitely stay awake tonight. I set another personal record, 11.29 miles I walked yesterday. I think I might split the lawns next week to two days though. My legs like jelly today. HossC
They mentioned the northern lights on the radio yesterday, but I promptly forgot as I thought it was unlikely we see anything as far south as we are. My friend's son proved me wrong with some beautiful pictures taken only a few miles away. Maybe tonight if I'm still awake, but it's clouding in now. Spike
According to tonight's news we'll get a 2nd chance tonight as they said it should be just as visible/vivid tonight if not more so. RogerDuke
Spike
Local news meteorologist updated their aurora prediction for 3am-6am so I'm going to wake up early. RogerDuke
HossC
Unusually, we were still up at midnight last night, so we went for a little spin away from the city lights. The sky wasn't as clear as Friday, and the moon was partly hidden by clouds, but plenty of stars were visible. Sadly, if the northern lights were out here last night, we didn't get to see them. It sounds like we might have been too early.
Spike
I've been up since 4am since local meteorologists said best viewing time was going to be 4-6am. Nothing but stars and moon. Even took a half hour drive around the countryside. Should have figured it would be as accurate as their weather forecasts this year . From what I've seen on Facebook and Reddit locally it was visible for about 15 minutes around midnight which that time was predicted to be a low chance to see them. Hopefully we'll get another chance this year to see them.
RogerDuke
Cloudy last night so no northern lights. Not much of a Mother's Day around here. We won't see any mothers or kids today. My wife's mom died on Mother's Day a few years ago and mine died earlier this year. And as you know, my daughter was killed in July. Her mother died of cancer 8 years ago. My one step-daughter lives in Virginia but we got to see the other one yesterday. Garrett Duke and Spike
Spike
It's been a fun past few days... Tuesday at work I came out to a flat tire. My hypothesis is that the lawn crew accidentally shot a screw or bolt into the sidewall because the tire was fine until the mowed and left. On 1st break it was fine, on lunch it was fine, after work flat. In my wife's building they have a portable air pump so they brought that out and was able to get it to hold air long enough for me to get it to a nearby tire shop. Got the call yesterday that the tire is unpatchable because of where the screw/bolt was but they didn't carry the brand tire that was on it so I asked if it still held air and told them I'd pick it up after work since I found another shop that sold the same tire. Well somewhere between the lift and parking lot the object fell out and left a hole and the tire wouldn't hold air anymore. So I finally gave in and told them just give me the cheapest tire they got that they can get on it today since the only options I had to choose from where Chinese knock off brands anyway. Guess I'll ride on that for a month or two and buy a whole new set. Ever since a regional chain out of Detroit took over that locally owned shop last year it has gone into the crapper. Also yesterday my boss got all defensive when I told him what happened with the tire. Thought to myself I'm not blaming you, just said it was most likely something got shot out of the lawnmower when they were mowing. During the winter when these guys plowed and salted the drive 4 coworkers got flats too so it's not like I'm the first one to complain about them. Heck if I didn't need the money I would call off from work today. Garrett Duke
RogerDuke
That stinks. I'll probably jinx myself if I say I haven't got a flat tire in awhile so I'm not going to say it. I've been struggling with trouble sleeping lately. Any of you folks have the same problem? My step daughter and her family are here for a long weekend. Just watched Gran Turismo with my grandson. It's actually pretty good. No cars jumping creeks or running shine or anything but worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Based on a true story. Spike
It's based off the video game of the same name. Years ago Nissan did a tournament with Gran Turismo and the best sim racers got a shot at a Nissan factory race team. Got home from picking the car up at the tire shop today, turned out to be something I ran over though I've never seen a screw like that before, anyways the lawn crew was nice enough to weed whack our asters and allysums. Since apparently they were told to do that by the district manager I figured I'd take it a step further and soaked the ground in weed and grass killer this morning since we're not allowed to have flowers there anymore so nothing will grow there for a long time. I am so over dealing with all the BS from this new district manager. Can't have this can't have that can't do this can't do that, fine for this fine for that. About ready to tell her to stick a 2x4 where the sun don't shine. Skipper Duke and RogerDuke 1

Those Beaudry boys sure are a bunch of low down sidewinders but there are parts of their lifestyle I envy. They don't care about how they dress or if their truck or house meet any social standards. They don't care what anybody thinks of them and purty much do what they want to do (it's just too bad some of what they do is bad). They don't care about modern things (I can never imagine Pa Beaudry getting depressed because he didn't get enough likes on facebook). And they don't even have to work. They just live off the land. RogerDuke
Sad news in western Pennsylvania. 3 young men were killed Saturday evening when they slammed into a tree. Ages 17, 19 and 21. They rode dirt bikes on local MX tracks. Trying to figure out if I have any action shots of them from the race I went to on June 1. I don't know any of them though. Spike
What a week this has been. Dad got out of the hospital Tuesday. Found one of the elderly lady's I mow for dead in her bed Wednesday. These mid to upper 90's all week long have done a number on the plants and us. Wife had my birthday today planned out but of course "Mr. Dependable" was needed . So after the plans were ruined, might I add by the way for nothing I figured I'd get the lawns done so I could at least sleep in and relax tomorrow. Yep haven't slept well since. Last Saturday I planted flowers for her as she said she wasn't feeling good. She really didn't look good either. I contacted one of her friends and let them know they should check on her. They called her and apparently she told them she was great even though she wasn't. She asked me to grab her mail and leave it on her little table on her front porch if I happened to be grabbing my dad's mail so I did. Tuesday I noticed that Monday's mail was still there. Contacted her friend again and was told that if she's not feeling well she needs to call someone on her own. Wednesday I didn't get a text from her about trash day like every Wednesday so I tried calling both her phones and didn't get an answer so I contacted her friend again and told them she's not answering either phone. Also contacted one of her neighbors and they pounded on the door and didn't get an answer. So her friend called for a wellness check but police didn't have a key so didn't enter the house. We meet her friend there after work because she had a key. She refused to go in so my wife and I did and that's when we found her.
