  1. Hoss, nice job with the "Judas Priest on a pony." I had forgotten what snappy dressers those guys were. I might have to pop in my old Priest CD and rock out now.
  2. Awright, we now resume our regular programming. Not that it helps.
  3. That may be true. Uneasy lies the head that wears the pancake... And somebody needs to take the keyboard away from you after midnight because you turn into a lunatic! That was one of my better speechifys back there. You capped the moment with a flapjack on a hound. Plus, now I'm hungry.
  4. My cousins have already issued wise words, and I'll add the little I can in that respect. Time can go by alarmingly fast. Changes happen in the blink of an eye. But surrounding yourself by what is good, what is positive, can make a difference. Jimmie Best is what...85 years old? I know his secret. He laughs his fool head off as often as possible. In real life, he's a goofball. More sharp-witted than Rosco, but just as fun-loving and silly when ya get right down to it. And he always has goals, dreams, schemes. I respect the man enormously, not for his celebrity status, but for the lessons about life I've learned from the moments I've had in his company. Roger mentioned the reunion movies and not liking them. I know it was hard to see Denver Pyle looking so old. The man was fighting cancer when the first Dukes reunion movie was being filmed. He'd go to chemo, then come back to the set. That is dedication, and shows how much he loved being on the Dukes of Hazzard. He could have said, "I'm sick, I can't do it," and no one would have thought any less of him, but he was there. I like to think that being involved in the reunion movie gave him something positive to do, something else to think about. It may have even added to his days. He survived through filming, and lived to see the tv movie broadcast. He left us several months after the first reunion was aired. There is great power in having positive-minded companions. The Dukes always ended the show on an upbeat note. If we all try to end each day the same way - with a happy ending, or at least an attitude of gratitude - then we have pretty good odds of having things turn out alright, and making the most of what we have in the here and now.
  5. Howdy Susan, I read what you have posted. Nice work! You have the characters and their voices down pat, and you did a good job on the balladeer. And ya know what, all that stuff people have against "Mary Sue" stuff in fanfic...don't sweat it. It is perfectly natural to base a character on one's own experience and personality traits. You have a nice, flowing writing style and I encourage you to continue.
  6. Those are noble ideas, CDoherty95. I had known Dale for a long time and regrettably had lost touch with him during the last couple years before he passed away. I had my own challenges going on but his were far more serious. It's on my long list of regrets. I didn't know Glenn personally, but knew of him. We honored Dale in one of our newsletters, and whatever he posted on HNet is still here. Going beyond that, we could consider having a memorial page. The dicey thing about those, is...ya end up adding to them. I dislike starting obituary lists because invariably it seems that more names keep getting added to it. Having a memorial of some kind is a worthwhile thought, though. I'll talk to Mufn and MaryAnne about it. Thank you for the suggestion!
  7. And it's people like you that have kept us around for 13 years and countin'!
  8. And I did a homepage write-up for it, and I hope Mark doesn't mind that I used one of the photos they had of the General and Byron. You can see the home page post here.
  9. Bahahaha! Good one. It really says something when the smallest piece of anything Dukes related goes for that kind of money. $1500 for a small metal sign? Wow. It's a shame that the General Lee couldn't prove its screen pedigree, though. But I'm glad it was pulled from auction rather than sold under any possible misrepresentation. LEE 1 comes to mind, there. I'd love to see a document that identified what original parts remain on the car.
  10. That's more than we get now, sounds good to me! But seriously, we don't mind the General Lee for sale thing, it just has to be presented better than what I had found. When in doubt it never hurts to contact us first via a private message here on the forums. In fact we might even homepage this sucker because it's certainly an item of fan interest. But to be painfully, brutally honest...150k is kinda steep for a car that has inaccurate details. Autographs and ownership nonwithstanding, our buddies in the orange clunker car circles know these cars to the nth degree and may not be forgiving on the flaws.
  11. What if somebody offered you a General Lee in exchange for HazzardNet, would you bite?
  12. I not only remember that Tom Hanks movie, I'll raise ya with another one: Splash
  13. Byron's agent posted this on our Forums originally, pretty much a "go here and buy this!!" post, which violates our rules, and I had to remove it. However, since this kinda qualifies as news, I'm posting the fact that the car is for sale here. HazzardNet is NOT endorsing this car, nor getting any compensation in any way, shape or form. We're just sharing it as news, like we do when any other high-buck General Lee goes on the market. So here ya are! Byron Cherry, also known as Coy Duke, is selling this General Lee replica for $150,000. If you're interested, click here to see it.
  14. Here's an interesting article that explains Barbour's reasonings: http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/01/13/2588714/amid-furor-barbour-defends-pardons.html Ya know while reading all this, I kept thinking about how Uncle Jesse won probation for Bo and Luke by promising not to make any more moonshine. A deal like that wouldn't fly in today's judicial and political climate, would it. What is the penalty for transporting moonshine with the intent to deliver, anyhow?
  15. I haven't heard this one. I know that S&H's last season was in 1979 - last show airdate was 5/15/79, and they completed filming months prior to that. So it's possible that WB picked up a Torino on the cheap and shipped it out there with the GL's and such. Though that seems to be a lot of hassle for a car they used once, ya know? If I find the answer I'll post it, I'm going through the DVD's anyhow.
  16. Right on, buddy. You and me both. I read tonight on Pistonhead that LEE 1 is expected to fetch up a million and a half. That crosses everybody I personally know off the buyer's list.
  17. The bike looks great! It's cool to see you and Hoss combine your talents on a project. Nice job!!
  18. Epic! We will promote this on the homepage and do our best to give ya'll a good turnout. Congrats on getting your General hired for the gig!
  19. Got an all-in-one response here... TimDuke, I do appreciate your input and you're always welcome to share it. I agree that LEE 1 isn't everything it's cracked up to be, which is why I included the sales history as far as I could recall it. Personally I thought the car shoulda been left in the condition as found, and put in Cooter's museum, or something. I know another screen-used, jumped General was being auctioned with an expected sale price of $40k to $60k. IMO I would put LEE1's value in the same neighborhood, tops. But because of all the hype and the whole diamond-in-the-rough discovery, the silly thing will probably fetch $150k or more. I dunno. The only comfort is that LEE1's crazy sale price could help boost the auction values of other screen-used General Lee's. Which would be happy news for our buddies in the orange clunker car circles, eh? Now, on to CDoherty95...dude, where did you start getting such a devious mind? What crowd have you been hangin' around lately? You're right tho', Travis ain't unknown to me. I've dealt with him in person and I had to count all my teeth afterwards. I've seen firsthand how he'll try to turn anything into his own cash opportunity. So if Mufn ever sold HNet to Travis, I'd have to go crawling to another Dukes of Hazzard website and see if they'd take me in. Though I'm pretty sure nobody would want to buy HNet anyhow. We probably couldn't give it away. JUST kiddin'....oops, look at the time. I think there's a newsletter or something I should be workin' on. BYE!
  20. Congrats!! It sounds like you've had your hands full, TomBo. Good to hear from you again!
  21. Great pics, TomBo! That's what it's all about, having a good time and sharing it with your friends and family. I hope you can make a return trip for Homecoming 2012!
  22. K-Duke15, I think you did a pretty good job with your sims! Good to know there's more Duke sims out there. I've always been impressed with what Pendragon's sims games have shown, sometimes the sims character behaviors are right on the money, and I'm laughing at how accurate they are. There's also crazy stuff that happens. If I had the computer muscle to spare to this, I'd get into the SIMs myself, but right now my living is closely tied to my already-overburdened laptop. Someday I'll get a gaming computer and let one of these scenarios run loose.
  23. TimDuke, you have a valid point, and I do recall the lore about this issue. However, Barrett-Jackson is promoting this car as LEE1: "Featured several times in the first episode of CBS hit "The Dukes of Hazzard." Fondly named "Lee 1" is the very car used to jump over a Hazzard County police cruiser in the first episode. Carefully restored over a 16 month period to pre-jump condition." And I know Travis promoted it, and sold it as "the first General Lee" and hence the name LEE 1, ect ect ect. Maybe it would be fair to say that LEE 1 is the first "screen-used" General Lee, if not in actuality the first GL ever built. But that's mere semantics to a lot of people. Frankly, we went out on a limb even getting into the merits of the restoration vs. the claims of originality being made. It's about as much caution as we can give the public without sticking our necks out too far. I'll give some thought to editing the post, but it's unlikely any of the buyers are coming from HazzardNet, no offense to any of us.
  24. Tickets for Tom & John's concert go on sale Jan 13 at noon eastern time, and they start as cheap as $25. Here is the link to the venue where you can get more info, and buy your tickets Friday: Fallsview Tom & John Concert
