  1. Skipper, you promised to keep your inaccurate quotes to Facebook at Christmas. You're probably right that they don't care about accuracy, but we do. This is a forum, not Facebook! Roger, that's exactly what I do. I doesn't take long to do it properly when it's a short back and forth conversation, or a quick aside. When Skipper posts a whole scene as a 'favorite quote', it takes me much longer to check. Don't rely on the subtitles to be 100% the same as what's actually spoken. They're a good starting point, but sometimes they can get abbreviated to reduce the reading. I also remember one episode where the character says "plowboys" and the subtitles say "cowboys". It's not the only time they were wrong.

A little bit of F1 team news. The US-based Haas team has signed 19-year-old British driver Oliver Bearman for 2025 in a multi-year contract. Bearman, who currently drives in the F2 championship, stood in at the last minute for Carlos Sainz for Ferrari in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix earlier this year. After qualifying 11th, he finished 7th, and impressed a lot of people. For tomorrow's British Grand Prix, the three British drivers (Russell, Hamilton and Norris) will be starting first, second and third. Max Verstappen starts fourth. There was rain in practice and qualifying, so it should be a good race.
  3. Please stop posting incorrect quotes. The meeting was held under the guise of a toy convention, and Devere was referring to his buttonhole. Boss: "Well, step right inside, sir. Door at the end of the little path. On behalf of Hazzard County, I want to welcome you to the toy capital of the world..." Devere: "Cool it, punk. You're wilting my boutonniere."

  5. Eddie LEE (from 'Play It Again, Luke') What happened to G and H? Please put your word(s) in capitals so it's obvious where we're up to.

  7. Your third cousin is a person with whom you share a great-great-grandparent. I think that the only way this could work is if another male with the surname Duke married into the family tree or someone changed their name.
  8. They were Honda CT90s in that episode - you can see some screengrabs at oldminibikes.com. (Whoops - we may have lost Roger to a motorbike forum )
  9. Thanks, Spike. I saw his name in the credits, but didn't get around to checking if it was the same guy.
  10. That's a weird coincidence - Adam-12 came up at the weekend as part of a discussion on a non-Dukes forum that I'm on. I think it was shown over here, but it was originally before my time, and I don't remember it being repeated when I was old enough to watch, so I'm not really familiar with the show. I found the episode we were discussing online - Reed and Malloy were deployed to patrol LAX on motorbikes, and seemed to make easy arrests every few minutes. I might check out a few more episode when I have time.
  11. I'm also quite good at looking stuff up.

  13. Ramon Bieri played JJ Carver in 'Undercover Dukes', but he doesn't appear to have been in any episodes of 'Batman'. In 'The Contaminated Cowl', the Mad Hatters henchmen were Benny and Skimmer, played by Leonard Bremen and Vic Ames. I can't find any good pictures of Vic Ames, and I can't find that episode free to watch, but Leonard Bremen looks quite like Ramon Bieri in some of the pictures I've seen.

Well, that was an interesting Austrian Grand Prix (i.e. Red Bull's home race). The sprint race yesterday went pretty much as expected. Lando Norris took the lead from Max Verstappen for one corner, and as Max retook the lead, Lando's team mate Oscar Piastri got past him too. They finished in that order. Max also took pole for the main race, but a different tire strategy and a slow final pit stop meant that Lando was able to catch him. We then had wheel to wheel action for about a dozen laps before the two of them had a coming together with seven laps to go. Both got punctures, and Lando had to retire from the race. That left the door open for Mercedes' George Russell to take his second F1 win. Behind him, Oscar passed Ferrari's Carlos Sainz for second. Max was given a 10 second penalty for causing the crash, and eventually finished fifth behind Lewis Hamilton. The race highlights are here. Next week is the British Grand Prix, which is shown live on free-to-air TV over here. It should be a good race with the field closing up.

  18. This is actually a small tweak request that I've been meaning to ask for for a while. On my Windows laptop, there is a search box in the HNet menu bar. You type what you want to search for in the left side, but the options on the right (the scope of the search, e.g. This Topic, This Forum, Everywhere etc.) are hidden until I hover my mouse over them. Is it possible to change the colors so that the options are always visible? It took me a while to find them! The layout is different on my phone, so this does not apply.
  19. Very well synchronized to the words. I'd forgotten a couple of those scenes!
  20. No, I don't speak Russian. But I do watch the OLYMPICS. Waylon from 'Comrade Duke'. Kensington Palace is a royal residence in London now owned by the King. Although it's the official address of several members of the British royal family, I don't think any of them currently live there.

  24. Houses It's alleged that he never had a romantic relationship and died a virgin, so I guess that was his comeuppance for inflicting calculus upon us. On the plus side, he did design that cool Pink Floyd album cover.

It was the Spanish Grand Prix today, and Formula 1 is finally getting closer again. The three practice sessions were topped by three different drivers from three different teams, and none were Max Verstappen or Red Bull. McLaren's Lando Norris pulled out a near perfect lap to claim pole in qualifying. Mercedes' George Russell got a great start from third, and was in the lead after the first corner. It didn't take long for Max Verstappen to overtake him, and Max went on to win again, but there was plenty of close racing and overtaking behind. Pole-sitter Lando Norris was closing on Max in the final laps, but had to settle for second at the checkered flag. Lewis Hamilton got past his team mate, George Russell, to claim third place and his first podium of the year. There were discredited rumors online this week that Mercedes were sabotaging Lewis' car because he's leaving for Ferrari at the end of the season. I guess that this result proves that the rumors were untrue. You can see the 8-minute highlights here. Next weekend is Red Bull's home race in Austria.
