  1. IMDb says that the final episode, 'Opening Night at the Boar's Nest', was filmed between December 20, 1984 and January 2, 1985. That's only just over a month before the original air date of February 8, 1985. Remember that much like Wikipedia, these sections of IMDb are edited by the public, so you might want to double-check the filming dates with another source.
  2. Just before Hannibal punches the guy in the face, the bad guy does a pretty good Dukes-style hood slide.
  3. I miscounted - it was 13 days earlier on April 2 (Good Friday last year).
  4. And belated birthday wishes from me, Roger (sorry, I was out until late yesterday). A friend of mine turned 62 at the beginning of the month - I should've remembered that you were about 10 days younger.
  5. I commented on the misidentification of the 00 as Cooter's Mustang in the Dukes of Hazzard Diecast Models thread. I also mentioned the additional erroneous hood scoop on the newer models and the failure of the manufacturers to make it more screen-correct. My 2001 model just says "1968 Mustang GT" on the box. If you read further down the diecast thread, you'll also see where they could've made Cooter's Camaro (yes, this one was Cooter's from 'Luke's Love Story') closer to the one on the show, and put the right wheels on Daisy's Roadrunner.
  6. One ARMED Bandits Might as well start at the beginning. I'm not checking for duplicates from old posts.

Not to worry, Spike, thanks for keeping us updated. There are more and more names I don't recognize in the results - I'll have to try and catch a race again sometime. I was up early this morning (6am local time) to watch the Australian Grand Prix - the first to be held there since 2019. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc snatched pole position yesterday ahead of the two Red Bulls. His team mate, Carlos Sainz Jr., got caught out by a red flag and only qualified 9th. Mercedes still haven't got a handle on their new car, but Lewis Hamilton and George Russell qualified 5th and 6th behind the McLaren of Lando Norris. In the race, Carlos Sainz Jr. had a bad start and then beached his car in the gravel after only one lap. Both Mercedes cars made up places at the start, but it was Charles Leclerc's Ferrari and Max Verstappen's Red Bull that led the way for most of the race. George Russell managed to leapfrog Lewis Hamilton by pitting under a safety car. Towards the end, Max Verstappen had another mechanical failure, which means that he's had two DNFs in three races. Maybe it's karma for the way he won last year's championship! The top 10 were: 1 Charles Leclerc Ferrari 2 Sergio Perez Red Bull 3 George Russell Mercedes 4 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes 5 Lando Norris McLaren 6 Daniel Ricciardo McLaren 7 Esteban Ocon Alpine 8 Valtteri Bottas Alfa Romeo 9 Pierre Gasly AlphaTauri 10 Alex Albon Williams That's three British drivers in the top 5, a good double points finish for McLaren, and the first point of the year for Williams. You can watch the race highlights here.
  9. Here's some non-copyright banjo music. One of the comments suggested playing it at 1.5x speed for car chase music.
  10. It looks great, but I struggled to read the questions with more than about a second left to read the answers. Could you possibly put the question up for about 5 seconds and then reveal the answer choices with the 5 second countdown? I know I could pause the video, but that defeats the point of having a countdown timer.
  11. Voice Despite the lead singers being American, I don't think that Voice of the Beehive had much chart success in the US. I've also just realized that it was 30 years ago that I saw them live!
  12. I couldn't use Spike's image because it's hard to recolor black panels, so here's a quick effort based on another image I found. There aren't many places for the graphics. You'll have to imagine the flag on the gas tank, because you can't see it from this angle.
  13. I've idea whether other countries use that style, but White Star Line hats are quite similar to UK Navy hats, and do not have ropes and anchors.
  14. It is used here, but I can't imagine it would have been used for the master of a White Star Line vessel over a hundred years ago. It would have been a very respected position. Skipper is also used here for the captain of a football (soccer) team.
  15. Despite sinking on its maiden voyage, Belfast is still proud of building the Titanic. There's a visitor attraction dedicated to it, although I didn't have enough time to check it out when I was in Belfast a few years ago. Whether he was bad or good, the person in charge of the Titanic was English, so he would never have been known as Skipper Smith. He was Captain Edward Smith. BTW. Skipper, why are you posting everything about the Titanic twice? Your posts don't really relate to either movie (they're just general discussion about the Titanic), and you certainly don't need to double post.

A few years ago, the TV show Wheeler Dealers repainted a Caterham 7 (the modern version of the Lotus 7) in Kawasaki Green. It was apparently a 'hot' color - definitely eye-catching.

The F1 season finally got under way this weekend. This year's cars are quite different from last year in a effort to make close following and overtaking more easy. After pre-season testing, it looked like Red Bull had made the most of the new regulations, with Ferrari close behind and Mercedes off the pace. However, in yesterday's qualifying, Ferrari took first and third with Red Bull in second and fourth. Aiming for a damage limitation race, Mercedes were fifth and ninth. In today's race, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc led from the start, but Red Bull's Max Verstappen briefly swapped places with him several times after the first pit stops. Carlos Sainz in the second Ferrari maintained third place for most of the race with the second Red Bull of Sergio Perez and the lead Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton behind. George Russell in the second Mercedes improved from ninth to sixth. These places were looking pretty static until Pierre Gasly's Alpha Tauri pulled to the side of the track, bringing out a safety car with 13 laps to go. Charles Leclerc nailed the restart while Max Verstappen began to complain about issues with his car. With three laps to go, Max Verstappen had to retire, and his team mate Sergio Perez also retired at the start of the last lap. That gave Ferrari a 1-2 finish in the opening race with Mercedes gaining an unlikely third and fourth. Kevin Magnussen, who only found out that he was racing a few days ago when Haas sacked Russian driver Nikita Mazepin, finished an impressive fifth. F1's first Chinese driver, Guanyu Zhou, scored a point for finishing tenth on his debut. Ferrari now head to next week's Saudi Arabia Grand Prix with a maximum of 44 points, with Mercedes on 27 and Red Bull on zero. Mercedes think they have a fast car once they can iron out a few issues, and both Haas and Alfa Romeo seem much more competitive than last year. Apart from Mercedes, other teams playing catch-up this year are McLaren and Aston Martin. I can't embed the video, but you can see the highlights here.
  18. I went to see our St Patrick's parade at lunchtime. It was a smaller affair than usual as the relatively recent lifting of restrictions didn't leave much time for organizing things. Nonetheless, we had a lovely day with blue skies (unlike some other parts of the country). After that, I got to go on the temporary Ferris wheel set up near the castle. We went back after getting something to eat, thinking either the wheel or the vintage carousel might be fun at night, but in the end we just took some pictures. Maybe tomorrow...
