  2. Burt REYNOLDS (Rosco's choice to play him in 'The J.D. Hogg Story' and played Boss Hogg in the 2005 movie. He was also a student at James Best's acting school)
  3. Breaker ONE
  4. Senator MAYNARD
  5. It was a 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. If you check out my Other Vehicles of Hazzard fanart thread, you'll see my comments about them using two different cars and how they were probably the same ones that played Petey Willis's race car in 'Welcome Back, Bo 'n' Luke'.
  6. JUNGLE JITTERS (Animated episode)
  7. Tomorrow is the 100th anniversary of the assassination of Irish revolutionary leader Michael Collins, so today I helped to steward at a re-enactment of the ambush where he was killed. There were also speeches by the mayor and the Cathaoirleach (chairman of the council), and some Irish dancing. We had great weather for the event, and it seemed to be well received by the people who came to see it. Before the event I got to take a short ride in the car they were using - a 1918 model made by the Chalmers Motor Company of Detroit. When new, it apparently cost three times the price of a Model T. The car came to the UK in 1989 and then on to Ireland more recently.
  8. I've never seen any sharks. There was a famous dolphin named Fungie which lived in and around Dingle harbour in Co. Kerry between 1983 and 2020. I didn't get to see it though. You can see pictures and a couple of videos here.
  9. HANGMAN'S HILL (Mentioned in 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Duke')
  10. Hogg's FRIENDLY FERTILIZING Company (Sponsor of the race in 'Happy Birthday, General Lee')
  11. The patrol car's already looking good with its police hubcaps and new decals. The orange Charger on the left appears to be a 1970, but a front end change should correct most of the differences.
  12. DAINA House (Appeared as one of the car strippers and as Dewey Hogg's nurse)

It appears to have been based on the 1997/98 championship when the PC and Playstation games were released. They featured commentary by former racing driver and former Top Gear presenter Tiff Needell. The Game Boy Color version came out in 2000 with simplified graphics and gameplay. It looks like all versions got good reviews at the time.
  14. I went to the seaside again on Sunday, but got back too late to write about it. This time I only got one swim because the beach we went to is on an estuary, and when the tide is out, the edge of the water is over a quarter of a mile away! It just seemed like a better idea to enjoy the sun on the beach. This week we got fish & chips and a fancy ice cream on the way home.
  15. Just in case anyone's confused - we're looking for a 'B' word next.

    NASCAR news

I haven't been following Formula-E much, but the final two rounds of this year's season took place in South Korea, so they happened to be shown live while I was making breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. It must have been a while since I last watched as they now complete a 45 minute race without the need to swap cars midway through. Congratulations to former F1 driver Stoffel Vandoorne whose second place finish in the last race was enough to clinch this year's title. It was also a win for the Mercedes team who are leaving the sport to concentrate on Formula 1. I still don't think I've been converted from gasoline-based cars. The lack of noise and pollution means that Formula E can race in city center locations which probably wouldn't be available to conventional cars, but I prefer more open tracks which aren't like racing down a corridor of barriers. They also have 'gimmicks' like Fanboost and Attack Mode which probably appeal to the gamers, but don't really do anything for me. Formula 1 has been using hybrid engines since 2014, and the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) has introduced them this year. I think NASCAR are doing some hybrid demos next year.

  20. Gherkins (It's what we call pickled cucumbers, aka pickles in the US)
  21. The link no longer seems to work, and googling only gave me one result, which is a review from 2006 (scroll to the green-backed section of text about 3/4 of the way down the page). To summarize the review, Doug Thron, a photographer/real estate agent, made an hour-long low-budget film called 'The Making of an Awesome General Lee', which showed a standard '69 Charger being transformed into a General Lee replica. Thron hired local actress (and zombie extra) Theresa Ireland to host the video, but then employed Californian bikini model Cindy Pucci for extra scenes including washing the newly created General Lee. 'Waxing the General Lee' was a re-edited version of the video with the car transformation part condensed and the car wash scenes with the model in the skimpy bikini expanded. Between selling around 2,000 DVDs at $10-$20 each and selling the General Lee replica, Thron apparently made quite a good return on his investment.
