Continuing the '80s theme ...

Season 2 starts with 'Days of Shine and Roses' and a vintage moonshining movie. It's not easy to see what Sheriff 'Spike' Loomis drives, but I'm going to plump for a 1947/48 Ford Super Deluxe (the '46 didn't have the parking lights under the headlights).
The modern-day Hatchapee patrol cars are more standard 1977/78 Dodge Monacos. Sheriff Loomis's car is the one with the moonshine jugs stencilled onto the front fender!.
Hazzard County gets its own 1977/78 Dodge Monacos in season 2. Although they first appeared in 'Days of Shine and Roses' I couldn't get a great picture, so this one is from 'Gold Fever'.
We get a look at a Sweetwater County patrol car in 'The Ghost of General Lee', and it's another 1975/76 Dodge Coronet. This is pretty much what the Choctaw car (above) looks like with a few minor changes; the lightbar has blue lights on both sides, there are spotlights on the A-pillars, and under the Hazzard-like door badge it just says 'Sheriff'.

It was a paper coffee cup - I think all counties have their anti-social idiots who can't do simple things like find a bin (it was cold yesterday, and had just started raining, but that's no excuse). Luckily, this sort of behavior isn't too common here - in fact, the place where I live has just won an award in the Tidy Towns competition for the second year in a row

I was planning on going to an American car show today (this one where I sat in a General Lee last year), but various factors conspired against it. Luckily there was another car related event much closer to home: Cannonball Ireland 2011 came to town. Unlike the namesake movies from the '80s, this was not a race, but just a charity fund-raising cruise of some very expensive cars including Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins amongst others:
There were a few American cars there too:
They all parked up in the grounds of the castle. There must have been several million dollars' worth of cars on show.

As far as I can tell, it features footage from the 2008 race when the cars looked quite different. The crash at 1:03 later proved to be very controversial when the driver (Nelson Piquet Jr.) claimed to have been told to crash on purpose to bring out a safety car and help his team-mate win - it wasn't F1's finest hour.

. I fell asleep with Gordon in the lead with about 20 laps to go. I woke up just after the finish and wondered what had happened. I know you like night races, but they don't finish until around 4am in my time zone .If you get up at 7am (your time, 8am ET) on September 25th you can see how F1 does night races. They're off to Singapore for a fully floodlit street race.

I was at work in London at the time - it was early to mid afternoon. Someone phoned to say that a plane had hit one of the towers of the WTC. Like MaryAnne, originally I thought it was a light aircraft. We turned the radio on and just listened in silence. After about half an hour I had to go around the corner to a small TV shop to see the pictures. Again we just stood in silence. A couple of hours later I got to go home, and we all just watched the news solidly until it was time for bed.
I didn't know anyone who may have been at risk in 9/11, but I'd moved to Ireland before the 7/7 bombings in London in 2005. I remember being worried about the people I knew there until I'd heard from them.
The 7/7 bombings took me back to the early '90s when the IRA was targeting London. I was commuting daily across London during that period, and missed the London Bridge bomb by half an hour. I was also due to be at Canary Wharf the night they bombed that. I guess someone was looking over me. It was amazing how little it affected everyday life - Londoner's are very stoic, and just complain about the inconvenience it causes.

Also in 'Deputy Dukes' we get to see the Springville County patrol cars. These are the only shots I could get, but they appear to be 1973 Dodge Polaras.
These look like New York City patrol cars of that era, and I think there may even be residue from the old decals on the door.
This one isn't strictly a patrol car, but it's driven by the Tri-Counties Bonding Company guards in 'Money to Burn'. It's a 1971 AMC Matador.
The last patrol car from season 1 belongs to Choctaw County. It's a 1975/76 Dodge Coronet. Considering that they created three of these cars, it was hard to get a clear picture. The roof is white over a light brown body. The decals are identical to the Hazzard cars except that it says 'Choctaw County Sheriff' under the door badge (briefly visible when the car rolls over). The car also has the squarer style lightbar.

'High Octane' sees the only appearance of a 1973 Plymouth Fury I. This is Enos's patrol car that Bo and Luke 'borrow'.
When the filming moves to California, the patrol cars change. Here is Enos driving a 1974 Plymouth Satellite in 'Swamp Molly'.
Also in 'Swamp Molly', the more familiar 1975/76 Plymouth Furys appear in Hazzard livery for the first time (the front car is parked, which explains the lack of driver).
By 'Deputy Dukes' the patrol cars have all become 1974 AMC Matadors. These were used until the end of the season. It's an AMC Matador that's seen chasing the General in the closing credits.

Brian's recent update of the FAQ section has spurred me on to make a visual record of all the patrol cars that appeared in Dukes. You'll find much of this information in other threads on HNet, but I wanted to collect it together with pictures (they say a picture is worth a thousand words!). Although most of the non-Hazzard cars were Dodge Coronets/Monacos or Plymouth Furys, I intend to include them to show their different liveries. I have recreated some of these already in the Rosco's Patrol Car thread in Fan Art.
We'll start with season 1. This had the largest variation, with different cars being used throughout the season, and the continuity was appalling - often a patrol car changes make and model several times mid-chase. Some of these early cars even pop up in later seasons when footage is re-used. You can see why they standardized the cars (and most of the cast's costumes) in later seasons.
The first is from 'One Armed Bandits'. It's a 1970 Dodge Polara. This car appears in the opening credits; first when the show's title appears, and then pulling up in front of the pile of dirt for the Lee 1 jump.
The other patrol car in 'One Armed Bandits' is a 1975 Dodge Monaco (very similar to the 1974 Dodge Monaco that appears in The Blues Brothers). In case you thought that I was mistaken about the patrol car used in the Lee 1 jump, the car that pulls up is the Polara (see above), but the patrol car that gets jumped was this Monaco - just one example of the bad continuity mentioned at the start of this post.
'Daisy's Song' introduces us to the Atlanta Police. They have several patrol cars, all 1975/76 Plymouth Furys.
By 'Mary Kaye's Baby' another Hazzard Patrol car appears - a 1975 Plymouth Gran Fury missing the 'T' from the hood letters - unusual because later vehicles had their branding removed or covered with tape.

I remember Rosco looking at his astrological charts, but not the episode. I saw 'Money to Burn' fairly recently and I don't remember it from that episode. I also don't recall it being in '10 Million Dollar Sheriff', so (by process of elimination) I'm going for A) 'The Sound of Music - Hazzard Style'.

This thread seems to have expanded beyond the Square itself, so I thought I'd include these pictures here. CDoherty suggested a thread for other Hazzard buildings - I may just add them in here as I come across them.
The first two are from 'Deputy Dukes' when Rosco, Enos and Jesse are looking for Bo and Luke. I thought this location would be easy to identify because of the buildings they drive by. First they go under a bridge and pass a Standard gas station:
Shortly afterwards they drive past a sign for 'Castaic Junction Restaurant':
Although Castaic Junction is clearly marked on the maps, I struggled to identify the exact location because both buildings have since been torn down and very few pictures of them seem to exist. Added to that, there was also another Standard gas station (now also torn down) a couple of miles south-east of here that was made (in)famous when it was the scene of the 1970 Newhall Massacre/Incident. I also found out that James Dean's last meal was at Tip's Coffee Shop at Castaic Junction. Some sources name Castaic Junction Restaurant as the location for this, while others say that Tip's Coffee Shop is now Marie Callender's, which is at the other intersection (now the intersection of I5 and Magic Mountain Parkway (that leads to Six Flags Magic Mountain that was the Tri-County Amusement Park in 'Lulu's Gone Away')) - information seems to be confused.
I then found a reference to Castaic Junction Restaurant appearing in an episode of The A-Team (Black Day at Bad Rock). Here it is just as the biker gang pull out (in the intervening years the Standard gas sign has now become 'Chevron'):
The same restaurant is also seen about 10 minutes later when the biker gang return and get their bikes strung from a crane. Part of the 'Ham and Eggs' sign is visible in the second picture above, next to Uncle Jesse's head.
I'm now fairly confident that Rosco was driving south on what is now called 'The Old Road' at this intersection. As far as I can tell, the Standard/Chevron gas station was on the piece of land next to what is now the 'Castaic Elementary School'. That would make the restaurant location just south of Henry Mayo Drive. The A-Team footage also shows a single-track railroad running behind the reastaurant. This also appears to have gone (what looks like a track bed is still visible), and I couldn't find any reference to it. Added to this, the bridge carrying the Newhall Ranch Road is now much wider than it appeared in 'Deputy Dukes', and there are now many new buildings north of Newhall Ranch Road that weren't there either.
There are a few other locations from 'Deputy Dukes' that I'd like to identify, like the gas station where the boys fix the ambulance, and the road where the blue car performs its big jump. I'm sure these were filmed on or near public roads as moving cars and trucks can be seen in the background, but all the signs seem to be props. I'll have to post some screengrabs to see if anyone recognizes them.

Shame you had to miss the race Garrett, you didn't get to see the bright pink pace car - are they trying to expand the viewing demographic?. I got to see pretty much the whole race - I missed half of the first lap, and used to red flag period to cook dinner
.Jeff Gordon had a fast car all day and often had at least a two second lead, but during the first half of the race his car was not good on long runs. His early pit stops were good, and whatever he lost to drivers taking fewer tires, he made up quickly. At one of the pit stops his pit crew asked how the car was, and he replied "really good everywhere".
Not too many crashes this week. Bobby Labonte crashed twice, the second time quite hard. Clint Bowyer cut across JPM on lap 241 and ended up against the wall. I know JPM and controversy aren't normally far apart, but I didn't see what he did wrong this time. Bowyer didn't see it that way!.
Gordon had a fairly anonymous middle part of the race, but the adjustments made earlier started to pay off towards the end, giving him better long run speed. He managed to get past Jimmie Johnson and started to pull out a lead. Then Gordon got a vibration, but managed to stay out one lap longer than Johnson. He was looking good for the next 20 or so laps, but then his tires started to go off. Luckily (for him) the same happened to Johnson as soon as he caught up. The last laps were very exciting - at times it looked more like a drifting competition than a NASCAR race with both Gordon and Johnson getting sideways.
The post-race round-up celebrating Gordon's 85 wins seemed to feature a lot of pictures of his old, mustached look

In 'Limo One is Missing' the brief scene when the General pulls over (just before the motorcyle cops jump into the lake) has been mirrored.
Near the start of 'Deputy Dukes', Cindy Lou and Maybelle steal all of Bo and Luke's clothes. The girls can be seen carrying their pants, and the boys clearly have bare legs when they climb into the General. However, when we see them a couple of minutes later, just before they run into Rosco, they (or at least the two guys in the car) are both wearing jeans.
