Speaking as someone who can't play a note, it would be a shame if you didn't use your talent in some way. As Garrett said, you'll have to decide if the marching band is the right outlet. What's the down side?. Do you like playing in a band?.
I wasn't even sure how a bass clarinet differed from a regular clarinet (other than playing lower notes) until I Googled it. Apparently it's not used very often in pop music, but I'm sure most of y'all will be familiar with
that features it prominently. -
Another song from the late '80s:

May I wish you a belated welcome to HNet (you joined years before me
). I hope your visits become more frequent.

I was just watching Billy Connolly's documentary about Route 66 when this came on:
-
Wow!, that brings back memories. I remember watching 'The Bionic Woman' when it first aired in the late '70s (guess that blows my claim of still being 21 as well
), but I don't think it's ever had a re-run over here. I'm not even sure if 'The Six Million Dollar Man' has been repeated, although 'The Fall Guy' is currently being shown.
Your picture prompted me to check Don Pedro Colley's page on IMDb to see if I had anything else he'd been in. The information I found pointed me in the right direction, but was pretty inaccurate after that.
The first one I looked at was 'Herbie Rides Again' (1974). IMDb lists his part as 'Waiter with Cake' (other sources just as 'Waiter'). The waiter with the cake is obviously not him. Instead he plays 'Barnsdorf' - my spelling is taken from the subtitles, IMDb spells it 'Barnstorff'. IMdb also attributes that part to Hal Williams (aka. Jonas Jones from 'Cooter's Confession', Officer 'Smitty' Smith from Sanford and Son etc.).
The other familiar title was 'The Bend in the River', a two-parter from the third season of 'The A-Team' (1984). In this case IMDb names his character as 'Christopher, Amazon River Guide', when he is clearly referred to as 'Little John' (or possibly 'Littlejohn') in the episode. It could've been worse - TV.com's episode summary only names his part as 'Christopher' and attributes it to 'Don Pedro Golly' [sic].

Thanks for the link Mark. I've heard the full version of Sonny's rendition of 'Beep Beep', but didn't know he'd done other tracks.

I saw the show in it's original run (at least, the last three seasons of it) ... I can remember back in '96 or so - I was in college ...
MaryAnne, I'm beginning to doubt your claim that you turned 21 at your last birthday

If we're doing 'America' songs:
I also found that I had
of the one that Mufn posted from West Side Story. It's by The Nice, a band featuring Keith Emerson just before his days in ELP. -
Sadly the farm was dismantled earlier this year. You can read about it in this thread. Roger managed to get some boards from it.
-
I should've remembered this after Mufn's last post:
Of course, there are a couple of other well known songs from West Side Story with a one word titles, but I'll leave them for Mufn
.

The original of this song was a big hit for Cliff in 1959. The version above was recorded with The Young Ones in 1986 for Comic Relief.

There's been an important vehicle missing from this thread, and it's got to have been the hardest Fan Art project so far. I'd always intended to do one of Cooter's tow trucks, but had been putting it off because I knew the wrecker assembly would be complicated. I picked the GMC truck for a couple of reasons; it didn't have the separate towing dolly, and I've already done a Ford F-Series (Uncle Jesse's truck), so I fancied something different.
I originally started out back in August. Unfortunately, after a fair bit of work, my computer decided it didn't want to re-open the file or the backup. I started again, and the same thing happened. This time I saved it out to different files and formats along the way, and had no problems at all. As they say, "third time lucky"
. The large rear dually wheels mean that everything is slanted at a 2.5 degree angle, which certainly made lining things up a lot harder. I decided to model the checker plate as accurately as possible, but that brought the total number of elements up to around 15,000.
I must have used over 60 reference pictures, and they showed that at least two different GMC trucks were used. The main differences are the lights: sometimes the cab roof lights are circular, others they are teardrops; the main beacon changes design, and the lights either side also change (including the way they are supported); the rear light panel has two distinct designs. The truck is sometimes very clean (as seen here), while other times it's covered in dirt. The license plate moves from the back to wrecker support. There are two different mirror designs. Lastly (I think), there are sometimes chains hanging off the back - for simplicity I left these out. You may even spot a few more. Although it didn't appear in the show, I've added the manufacturer emblem to the hood (as with I've done with other Fan Art projects). I didn't have a good reference photo of the winch, so I copied another one. All the other features you see here have appeared in the show, but not necessarily on the same truck

I was also considering getting the Hazzard County Police patches and stitching them onto the rear rack bag. Does anyone make them?Or know where I could get them?
You can get them on ebay - just search for "Hazzard Sheriff Patch".

Mr. Horrible! Mr. Horrible! Telephone call for Mr. Horrible.
I have this album. LOL.
I bought it when it came out - can you believe it was 21 years ago?:
Why is the world in love again?
Why are we marching hand in hand?
Why are the ocean levels rising up?
It's a brand new record for 1990

I found the site Newton Citizen – 2011 Covington Christimas Parade and here's the photo of the actor Sonny Shroyer.
I had to laugh when I saw the first picture. The hand gesture of the kid in orange means something different over here

Before I leave Fiddler ... remember "playing with matches, a girl can get burned":
Matchmaker - from Fiddler on the Roof
There's some great lines in this song:
Hodel, oh Hodel,
Have I made a match for you!
He's handsome, he's young!
Alright, he's 62.
But he's a nice man, a good catch, true?
True.
I promise you'll be happy,
And even if you're not,
There's more to life than that---
Don't ask me what.
Chava, I found him.
Won't you be a lucky bride!
He's handsome, he's tall,
That is from side to side.
But he's a nice man, a good catch, right?
Right.
You heard he has a temper.
He'll beat you every night,
But only when he's sober,
So you'll alright.
I LOVE Fiddler on the Roof, one of my favorite musicals. In fact, I just watched that video last week. Saw an excellent dinner theater version in Washington, DC in 1988.I've already mentioned this in Musical Chairs, but I saw Topol reprise his role of Tevye in the 1994 production at the London Palladium.
-
I'm not a huge fan of musicals, but I like this one:
Sorry it's a long video. There were shorter ones, but they either had bits missing or just a still picture.
"You may ask, how did this tradition get started? I'll tell you - I don't know."
"Tradition. Without our traditions, our lives would be as shaky as... as a fiddler on the roof!"
If you want something more accessible, here's a Lego version. The stage version includes a couple of extra jokes!.
Maybe I should worry about liking this musical - it's obviously a favorite of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory.
Meadowmufn said:I win!! LOL.
'Fraid you get silver - I posted it back in February

Warning: the video is slightly risqué (girls in bikinis etc.). It features Madonna being driven around in a 'Super Fly' stretched limo by Ali G - booyakasha!.

How appropriate that you used the oblique projection technique on the cover of a geometry book

You can't beat a bit of early '80s synthpop. This is the extended version of their single from 1982.

Like a Prayer - Madonna
Warning: When first released, this video caused protests from religious groups around the world because of what they deemed was blasphemous use of Christian imagery. If that's likely to offend, then you can listen to an audio only version here.
