  1. I've just checked out the Everything DUKES of Hazzard Related Tribute PAGE - Corey Eubanks is the lead admin for the page. Cindy Wills was a new name to me, but it looks like she doubled for Cathy in some of the stunts (her IMDb page lists some other stunt work, but not Dukes). Her name appears among the 'Likes' under some of the posts.

    NASCAR news

It looks like most of the pre-race coverage of tomorrow's race in Kentucky has centered on Kyle Petty's comments about Danica Patrick. In an interview with SPEED, Petty said “I don’t have a problem with her being a marketing machine -- more power to her.â€, but he went on to say “ … Danica has been the perfect example of somebody who can qualify better than what she runs. She can go fast, but she can’t race. I think she’s come a long way, but she’s still not a race car driver. And I don’t think she’s ever going to be a race car driver.†You can see the original story here. Danica's response is here. Dale Earnhardt Jr. has come out in support of Danica - you can read his view here.
  3. Here's the provisional starting order for tomorrow's Quaker State 400 at the Kentucky Speedway: 1. Dale Earnarhdt Jr 2. Carl Edwards 3. Jimmie Johnson 4. Kyle Busch 5. Marcos Ambrose 6. Denny Hamlin 7. Ryan Newman 8. Brad Keselowski 9. Brian Vickers 10. Juan Pablo Montoya 11. Joey Logano 12. Jeff Gordon 13. Ricky Stenhouse Jr 14. Jeff Burton 15. Clint Bowyer 16. Matt Kenseth 17. A.J. Allmendinger 18. Aric Almirola 19. Martin Truex Jr. 20. Greg Biffle 21. Kasey Kahne 22. Kevin Harvick 23. Jamie McMurray 24. Paul Menard 25. Tony Stewart 26. Austin Dillon 27. Kurt Busch 28. David Stremme 29. Danica Patrick 30. Landon Cassill 31. Casey Mears 32. Dave Blaney 33. Michael McDowell 34. David Gilliland 35. JJ Yeley 36. David Reutimann 37. Josh Wise 38. David Ragan 39. Mike Bliss 40. Travis Kvapil 41. Joe Nemecheck 42. Scott Riggs 43. Ken Schrader I think the commentator said that the top nine drivers broke the lap record. I tuned in just in time to see Ricky get third, but he got pushed down to 13th by the end. Garrett, can you ask Jeff to get out of Ricky's way at the start? - I don't want him being held up . According to NASCAR.com, the race will be on TNT at 07:30 PM ET, but after last week it might be best to check your listings.
  4. More great pics, Roth. I think this shot from 'Farewell, Hazzard' (that I originally posted in the Bloopers thread) shows Al Wyatt Jr behind the wheel as Bo.

The Cubs won't win until 2015 - did you learn nothing from 'Back to the Future Part II'?
  6. The Chickasaw car must be from one of the later seasons as it doesn't have the fangs on the front. It immediately made me think of the stunt below from 'Hughie Hogg Strikes Again'. It's clearly not the car from that stunt, but something similar could produce the damage seen above.

    One Word Song Titles

I heard this on the radio a couple of weeks ago for the first time in ages. I'm suprised it hasn't made it to this thread before: Jackson - Johnny Cash & June Carter One of the listeners suggested that Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood's version is better. I actually like both of them - see what y'all think:
  8. Was it my imagination, or were there even more commercial breaks than usual today? I'd swear that several times they only showed two laps of racing between commercials. Garrett, I'm sure you're happy with the result, but you forgot to mention DW jointly giving the command "Drivers, start your engines" and saying "Boogity, boogity, boogity! Let's go racin' boys and girls" - I bet you liked that bit too .
  9. Contrary to Garrett's earlier insinuation, I don't have a lot of techno in my collection, but I'd hate to turn down a request . I you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed NKOTB Hey Boy Hey Girl - The Chemical Brothers Don't forget to play it loud. Superstar DJs - here we go!
  10. To borrow a quote from Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz that I posted recently in another thread: "I never made a mistake in my life. I thought I did once, but I was wrong."
  11. Next time I'll make sure I use NASCAR.com for my information as I can't rely on NASCAR.com . For every other race this year I'm sure the times on the schedule has been the race start time. I'm pretty sure they usually agree with the front page.
  12. I was just on NASCAR.com to check for last minute news and to open a Live Leaderboard window ready for the race when I got worried that I'd posted the wrong start time. Here's the front page I got: And here's the schedule where I got my original information: I thought I might have misread the time zone, but one clearly says 3 PM ET and the other 2 PM ET.
  13. I think you're confusing my music taste with yours . A Girl Like You - Edwyn Collins And here's a clip of Edwyn on the 1995 Christmas special of the surreal UK panel show 'Shooting Stars':

Well you could've posted this one :
  15. Well, if you'd read my post from yesterday in Nascar News you'd know all about the new qualifying format . I saw that earlier, and it's very sad. He was only 10 minutes into the race and his Aston Martin hit the barrier hard on the driver's side. The rest of the team are carrying on at the request of Allan's family. It's the first death at Le Mans since 1997.
  16. I don't normally get a chance to see the qualifying, but it worked out to be at a convenient time today, so I thought I'd check out the new format for road courses. In case y'all missed it in the Nascar News thread, the cars were split into groups of five or six based on practice times. Victor Gonzalez Jr hit the wall in the first group, bringing out a caution, and Martin Truex Jr had a small electrical fire causing a caution in his group. It didn't make much difference - nearly all the fastest times were set on the first lap, even though there was time for three or four. As you can see, Jamie McMurray gets the pole. Jeff Gordon did well in his group, and was 4th for a while before slipping to 10th. I didn't see much of Ricky's lap, but he was slowest in his group and just slid down the table when the following groups went out. Fingers crossed that he can do something in the race, but it's more difficult to come from back there on a road course. The complete starting lineup is: 1 Jamie McMurray 2 Marcos Ambrose 3 Carl Edwards 4 Greg Biffle 5 Clint Bowyer 6 Matt Kenseth 7 Kurt Busch 8 Joey Logano 9 Kyle Busch 10 Jeff Gordon 11 Tony Stewart 12 Kevin Harvick 13 Juan Pablo Montoya 14 Martin Truex Jr 15 Kasey Kahne 16 Paul Menard 17 Denny Hamlin 18 Brad Keselowski 19 Jimmie Johnson 20 Bobby Labonte 21 Casey Mears 22 Jacques Villeneuve 23 David Ragan 24 Boris Said 25 Ron Fellows 26 Dale Earnhardt Jr 27 Jeff Burton 28 David Stremme 29 David Gilliland 30 Ryan Newman 31 Danica Patrick 32 Aric Almirola 33 Travis Kvapil 35 Josh Wise 36 Justin Marks 37 Ricky Stenhouse Jr 38 David Reutimann 39 Alex Kennedy 40 Paulie Harraka 41 Tomy Drissi 42 Victor Gonzalez Jr 43 J.J. Yeley The race is on tomorrow (Sunday) at 2.00 PM ET on TNT.
  17. Thanks for your comments. Y'all may remember this picture from post #81. It's the hospital that Uncle Jesse gets taken to in 'Witness: Jesse Duke'. It looks like I was right about the clip being stock footage of a real hospital, because I think I've found it. Check out this view on Google Maps. It shows the east side of Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. Using Historic Aerials, I've checked the location and found that the square white building with the helipad on the roof was just a car park back in 1980. Google Earth gives historical views back to 1989, and the white building was there by then. The height, roof and general design all look right to me - it's just a shame you can no longer get the view used in the show to confirm it.

    NASCAR news

You can see the qualifying groups here. Qualifying takes place at 2 PM ET today (Saturday). I've just read that Jaques Villeneuve is taking part this weekend. I saw him interviewed at the Canadian GP two weeks ago, but he didn't mention it - the circuit in Montreal is named after his father. Danica still seems to have a grudge against him. I know he can be a controversial and outspoken figure at times (the British F1 reporters sometimes bump into him at races that he's covering for other broadcasters), but you don't get to be F1 World Champion and Indy 500 winner without being a good driver. You can see the story here: Danica, Bowyer expect respect from Villeneuve One of the commenters said "no one likes him because his name is hard to pronounce lol". His surname only has two syllables, the same as Patrick and Bowyer, so I can only conclude that the commenter is just ignorant.
  19. I had planned to post 'When My Ship Comes In', a folk song by Clive Gregson & Christine Collister, but I couldn't find it. While I was searching YouTube I found this song with the same name, and gave it a listen to see if it was the same song. It wasn't, but I enjoyed it anyway, and although various Clint Black songs have been posted before, this one hasn't: When My Ship Comes In - Clint Black
  20. The AutoWorld General might not be perfect, but it's a lot better than the original ERTL release - go ahead, treat yourself . I've just checked on Ebay, and while some sellers are asking up to $100, most are between $65 and $75. The other thread you mention is General Lee Diecast Question, which duplicates some of the info from here. I did my best to list all the previous 1:18 releases (2000-2008) in this post.

    NASCAR news

I was just looking to see if the starting line-up for Sunday's race at Sonoma had been decided when I came across an article saying that NASCAR are changing the qualifying format for Sonoma and Watkins Glen (the two road courses) to give a better show for the fans. Instead of single-car qualifying, they'll be be doing group qualifying: “Cars will be assigned to one of five or six groups based on practice speeds, slowest to fastest. Within those groups, cars will be separated fastest to slowest and released at intervals. Each group will have a window in which cars can complete their qualifying each likely receiving three laps at full speed. A car’s fastest lap will count and the field will be set based upon overall qualifying speeds. The process has been used previously for NASCAR Nationwide Series road course qualifications.†The full article I read is here.
  22. This one looks like it's from the same photoshoot as the season 7 DVD cover.
  23. Thanks for the pictures, Roth. I was tempted to get one of these, but I've got nowhere to put it. Besides, I already have the 'Bluesmobile' which uses the same 1974 Dodge Monaco mold. I thought they could've made the County Sheriff star more accurate, but overall it's an improvement on the old one.
