You're quite right Roth, I should've done my research better. When I said the wheels were pretty close, I was comparing them to the picture on the Supercar Collectibles site: These are common wheels for Mopars of that era (I even did my FanArt version with these wheels!). However, when I looked at the larger image and compared it with the actual scene from 'Money to Burn' (below), I realized that the wheels have been Photoshopped on the picture above. I guess it was easier to make the picture look like the model than make the model look like the real car. It's a shame when these models fall down on simple details like this (see my previous comments on Cooter's Camaro here). Hopefully they can fix the wheels before release.

I think the wheels are pretty close, although the reflections make it difficult to tell. I agree that the hood decals are slightly off (not by much), but the site describes it as a "sample displayed at iHobby toy show". It's quite possible that details will change before it's released.

Supercar Collectibles finally have sample pictures of the upcoming 1:18 model of Daisy's 1971 Road Runner. The expected delivery date has now been put back to March, 2014. More details here. They also have news of an updated version of Rosco's patrol car, but a "newer yet" lightbar is the only detail listed for the improvements. Release is likely to be May 2014. Off topic I know, but I seem to remember that Roger has a liking for the Charlie's Angels Mustang II. The 1:18 version by Greenlight Collectibles comes out next week (October 14th), although maybe it's not the same without Farrah Fawcett on the hood .

I was glad to see McDowell and Wise got their refreshment and relaxation periods sorted this week, because last week, according to the lap-by-lap guide, they had to retire "due to break issues" .

While I was hanging out on a forum about Los Angeles recently, I came across a fellow member, Moxie, who has been tracking down filming locations for the '80s TV series 'Scarecrow and Mrs King'. What piqued my interest is that they also used the WB backlot overlapping the time when Dukes was filmed there, although they preferred to work on New York and Hennesy Streets: SMK on the WB backlot: http://scarecrowandmrskingforum.yuku.com/topic/2255/SMK-on-the-WB-backlot There's another thread for all the other filming locations. Moxie and friends really had their work cut out finding some of these places as both east and west coast locations were used, as well as a few in Europe. You'll even find maps that tie all the locations together. Other filming locations: http://scarecrowandmrskingforum.yuku.com/topic/2245/Filming-Locations

Thanks - I was trying to watch something on TV at the same time and missed what happened. Still, he was very close to two of the earlier crashes/spins and got away without any contact, so I guess I should be glad for that.

What happened to Ricky at the end? He was running in the top 20 with about 50 laps to go, and then, toward the end, he suddenly went a lap down just at a point in the race when there weren't any cautions! I've just watched the Dario Franchitti crash and it looks pretty bad, although the driver compartment stayed intact. In the Korean Grand Prix we had a tire ripping itself apart, a front wing coming loose and creating a shower of sparks, and Mark Webber's car catching fire (he got out unhurt before the fire really took hold).

A Question About An Episode!
HossC replied to Hobie Hartkins's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
Going to Las Vegas was a popular idea for '80s TV shows. The A-Team went in 'The Rabbit Who Ate Las Vegas', The Fall Guy in 'TKO', and Knight Rider in more than one episode. Although the Dukes never went, "Vegas" does get a passing mention in a few episodes eg. "I mean, all that talk about shock absorbers back there... and the whole time, they got a little Vegas running. In Vegas at least you got a chance of winning." in 'Route 7-11'. -

Good news, good news. I saw "Chat Room" on the menu bar earlier and wondered how long it had been there. It looks like the Flash option works best for me - do all the options go to the same chat room?

This Sunday they're racing at the Kansas Speedway in the Hollywood Casino 400. Only Kevin Harvick was faster than Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in qualifying, so I'm hoping for a good race. 1 Kevin Harvick 2 Ricky Stenhouse Jr 3 Jimmie Johnson 4 Brad Keselowski 5 Joey Logano 6 Dale Earnhardt Jr 7 Matt Kenseth 8 Paul Menard 9 Carl Edwards 10 Denny Hamlin 11 Brian Vickers 12 Juan Pablo Montoya 13 Martin Truex Jr 14 Jeff Gordon 15 Kasey Kahne 16 Jeff Burton 17 Ryan Newman 18 Kyle Busch 19 Kurt Busch 20 Aric Almirola 21 Justin Allgaier 22 Clint Bowyer 23 Mark Martin 24 Jamie McMurray 25 Marcos Ambrose 26 Greg Biffle 27 David Reutimann 28 AJ Allmendinger 29 Danica Patrick 30 Cole Whitt 31 Michael McDowell 32 David Ragan 33 J.J. Yeley 34 David Gilliland 35 Timmy Hill 36 Travis Kvapil 37 Casey Mears 38 Josh Wise 39 Joe Nemechek 40 Reed Sorenson 41 Dave Blaney 42 Tony Raines 43 Landon Cassill Once again NASCAR.com seems undecided on the start time. It's either 1:00 PM ET or 2:00 PM ET (my guess is 2:00) on ESPN.

I was looking for a doo-wop song earlier when I came across this one instead (the doo-wop song turned out to be by the Four Lovers, precursor to the Four Seasons, but this came up because both have "Apple of my eye" in the lyrics). Intrigued by the name of the artist, I gave it a listen, and realized that I already knew it from a car commercial. Wikipedia describes them as "an American indie folk band". The song is from 2009. Home - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros And here's the car commercial that features the song. Confusingly, the commercial is from 2013, but the car is called the 2008. Peugeot haven't sold cars in the US since 1991, but a white Peugeot 504 does appear in a couple of the Georgia episodes.

I don't get the History Channel any more, but they used to show some interesting documentaries. It seems that they changed their programming in 2008. I've just looked up the current schedule, and it consists of Duck Dynasty, Storage Wars, Ice Road Truckers, Ax Men etc. repeated several times a day - makes me quite glad I'm no longer paying for it! PS. I'm also old enough to remember when Music Television showed music .

Just a quick update for UK members: ITV4 will be showing Duck Dynasty from next Tuesday (October 8th) at 9 PM - the first time it will be available on a non-subscription channel in the UK. It was previously shown on the History Channel (which I don't have).

It has to be one of the Georgia episodes because out of all the patrol cars used, the one in the pictures is either a 1975 Dodge Monaco or a 1975 Plymouth Gran Fury. The rear window of a patrol car gets shot out near the end of 'Mary Kaye's Baby' (see below), so I think it's most likely that the pictures are from an unused scene in that episode.

Sorry to see the Steelers lost in London, Roger. I watched some of the first hour before the NASCAR race started, and I'm still none the wiser . At least they got to sing 'God Save the Queen' after 'The Star Spangled Banner' . Next month Wembley hosts Jacksonville Jaguars v San Francisco 49ers. On the British coverage they only take commercial breaks every 15-20 minutes. That meant that they went back to the studio fairly frequently. One of the guys in the studio was Merril Hoge, who I'm sure is familiar to Garrett and Roger. I don't know if the US broadcast covered it, but they also showed footage from earlier this week when Ben Roethlisberger met his namesake bell, Big Ben.

I'm not sure what happened to Ricky today. For the first half of the race he was in the mid-teens, and even made up a few places before the second caution. Then, approaching halfway, he dropped down to about 21st just before a caution, and he was the second car a lap down. I guess I shouldn't be too unhappy with 17th, but he was two laps down.

Just Another Day In Ireland
HossC replied to CDoherty95's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
You remembered far more details about the Jesse pickup/General Lee crash than I did . *Russell Solberg. I'm sure you remember the stuntman/stuntmen involved, but here's what I recall (if I'm not mixing up two stories). I seem to remember that they were filming another train jump, and the driver misjudged his speed and position on the ramp. The result was that the side-mounted camera (like the one visible in the Styx River jump) got knocked off, and the car jumped so far that none of the other cameras caught the landing. Was that when Tom told us about the camera mounts? None of the cameras were mounted on cars using bolts, they were attached using powerful suction cups (were they Tom's idea?). Anyway, during one of the stunts (it may have been the one above) a camera fell off. The strength of the suction cup system was being questioned when Tom retreived the camera and pointed out that the suction cups were still firmly attached to a chunk of Bondo which had been used in a previous repair. Needless to say, they checked the integrity of cars more carefully after that incident. -
Just Another Day In Ireland

Thanks for posting these, CD. I was there, and I had already forgotten the story about the cows and coyotes . You'll have to help my recollections of some of the other stories, CD. I do remember that they had two Rolls Royces for filming '10 Million Dollar Sheriff', and ended up having to buy both cars after the stunt crew damaged them practicing skids. Was it one of the early Cooter tow trucks that broke in half pulling a car out of a ditch? I think it might have been the blue and white Ford. -
They're playing at Wembley Stadium, which is normally used for soccer finals. It's only about 20 miles from where I grew up, but despite passing it on the train every time I went to London, I've never actually been to the stadium. Apparently, the match has been sold out for quite a while - Gene Simmons from Kiss was on TV this morning talking about it. Seeing as the match is being shown here live, I may watch some of it. There was talk of an NFL match being played in Ireland, but they lost out to London. Instead, Croke Park (the Gaelic sports stadium in Dublin) will host a college football match next year - more details here.

It's Friday again, so time for something funky! BBC FOUR are still working through the '70s epsiodes of their pop show 'Top of the Pops', and are currently at 1978. Last week's program included this song. The caption claims it's from 'Top of the Pops', but it's actually from the Dutch equivalent, 'TopPop' (they're wearing the same outfits). Rasputin - Boney M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oro-Rj4Yr-g Oh, those Russians...
