  1. Roth, I know you didn't ask me to remove the watermark from this picture, and it was harder than the previous one, but here it is! I also had a go at color correcting this picture from the same post:
  2. Buddy Hackett Dean Jones's co-star in 'The Love Bug'. I saw him recently in 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World'. He was also in 'The Music Man' which filmed in Midwest Street. This shot looks like it's inside Cooter's Garage:
  3. Herbie I wasn't sure where to go with Aspercel, so I went with a co-star from another 1968 movie that Dean Jones made for Disney .
  4. I flipped the image to get a better look at John's shirt. At first I thought he might be a fan of the old tea clipper in Greenwich, London ... ... but then I remembered this :
  5. Wonder Horse Star of a 1950s TV series. The horse was owned by Gene Autry. Some of the series was filmed at the Andy Jauregui Ranch in Newhall, now part of Golden Oak Ranch. Andy Jauregui was a star of the Newhall-Saugus Rodeo which later became Saugus Speedway.
  6. Ayrton Senna (1981 British Formula Ford champion)
  7. British Racing Bentleys were among the earliest cars to use British Racing Green.
  8. Thanks for posting these, K-Duke. I've just checked on my scanner (it's a Canon), and as well as the photo/text option, there's another one labeled "Descreen". This sometimes gets rid of the striped effect.
  9. Gump (another man named Forrest!)
  10. It's from 'The Hack of Hazzard' near the end of season 3.
  11. I don't think the Dukes cards were available in the UK, but I do remember collecting two different sets of Superman cards around the same time. I'd forgotten that you could turn them over to make a large picture. Roth, I think we've covered this before, but you can get complete sets of cards on Ebay for $35-$40. Otherwise they seem to go for around $2 each.

  14. A 1:18 Dixie Jeep would be great. I already have an 'In Violet' (same as Dodge 'Plum Crazy') 1971 Plymouth Road Runner in 1:18, so I'll wait until they get Daisy's car right before I buy one.
  15. crystal (early '80s Jim Henson fantasy movie)
  16. picture (When I was young there was an educational TV show called 'Words and Pictures')
  17. Thanks for the link, Roth. It's a shame they went with the wrong wheels, because apart from that, it looks pretty good. I see that the manufacturers managed to omit the interior 1/4 panels in the rear (see Super Car Collectibles), but they don't plan on doing anything about it. I found the car on a couple of sites for $89.95, which seems quite pricey considering it isn't a high detail version. One last small gripe - since they've gone to the trouble of using the correct license plate, why don't they use a realistic license plate typeface instead of something similar to Arial? On a separate issue, it's good news for Roger. GreenLight are releasing a higher detail version of the Charlie's Angels Mustang II in a couple of months, this time complete with Farrah Fawcett figurine .

    NASCAR news

You can read NASCAR's own article about the new penalties here. They only list a few technical infringements that will result in these new penalties: The list of penalties can be seen below (Nationwide and Camping Series are virtually the same, but the fines are smaller): The appeals procedure will now be as follows: I had a very quick look through the comments in each article, and it looked like most of the Yahoo comments were against the changes, but the ones on NASCAR.com where mixed.

  20. Daisy hangs out her "unmentionables" to distract Enos while he's looking for the President's car in 'Limo One Is Missing' (S01E09).
  21. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that the Seahawks' General Manager is John Schneider. I was expecting Bo Duke, but apparently he looks like this:
  22. Picture posted a couple of years ago - see here. Why not? I tracked down the plane in 'Enos Strate to the Top' - see the fourth picture here.
  23. Can I tempt anyone into a little snack? I'm sure that sentence needs a colon .
  24. Roth, I'm sorry my reply has taken so long, but I've finally watched my way through all four of the original Herbie movies. The DVD extra on 'The Love Bug' actually mentions filming at Golden Oak Ranch. I think the ranch only appears in 'Herbie Rides Again' during flashbacks to the first movie. The Golden Oak Ranch, including the lake, was used again in 'Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo'. I was amused at how many times they went around the old Loews Hairpin near the end of that movie . Getting back to your question, the scene you asked about was definitely filmed at Golden Oak Ranch. Here's the plane taking off: Compare it to this image from Google Earth - the hills are a perfect match: The makeshift airstrip would have been roughly in the middle of this area. I assume that the barrier to the right of the plane (see my first picture above) was built to try and hide the Antelope Valley Freeway which can be seen in the distance as the plane takes off. At the time of filming, the area was much more open, as you can see in this 1980 aerial view from. On a sadder note, the red and white plane used in 'Herbie Goes Bananas' was destroyed in a fatal crash at a Valencia air show in 1984 - NTSB report here.
