NASCAR is in California this week for the Auto Club 400 from the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Matt Kenseth grabbed pole after trying out a different line. I caught some of his interview, and I think he said he'd promised to take his crew to In-N-Out Burger if he got the top spot - I'm guessing that he wasn't expecting it to happen. The new qualifying format seems to suit Brad Keselowski, because he starts from the front row for the fourth week running. Just behind them is Jimmie Johnson in third. Obviously I was hoping that Ricky Stenhouse Jr would start higher than 22nd, but he claimed second last week after starting 21st. Garrett, I expect you'd like a race result similar to practice 1: JJ in first with JG in second! 1 Matt Kenseth 2 Brad Keselowski 3 Jimmie Johnson 4 Kevin Harvick 5 Clint Bowyer 6 Jeff Gordon 7 Joey Logano 8 Marcos Ambrose 9 Carl Edwards 10 Tony Stewart 11 Kyle Larson 12 Martin Truex Jr 13 Denny Hamlin 14 Kyle Busch 15 Dale Earnhardt Jr 16 Ryan Newman 17 Kurt Busch 18 AJ Allmendinger 19 Brian Vickers 20 Austin Dillon 21 Aric Almirola 22 Ricky Stenhouse Jr 23 Michael Annett 24 Greg Biffle 25 Jamie McMurray 26 Kasey Kahne 27 Danica Patrick 28 Justin Allgaier 29 David Gilliland 30 Matt Crafton 31 Casey Mears 32 Parker Kligerman 33 David Reutimann 34 Cole Whitt 35 Travis Kvapil 36 Reed Sorenson 37 Brian Scott 38 Josh Wise 39 Ryan Truex 40 Alex Bowman 41 David Ragan 42 Joe Nemechek 43 Landon Cassill The race is on Sunday at 3:00 PM ET on Fox.

Earlier this week, Texas Motor Speedway announced plans to fit the world's largest HD TV on the backstretch of the track. TMS are working with Panasonic to make a screen that's 218 feet long and 94.6 feet wide, or in other words, nearly 12 stories high and almost 21,000 square feet. All being well, it should be ready for the NASCAR weekend in April. I've saved the best bit 'til last - they're calling it "Big Hoss TV" .

I thought that would be the sign that you were back to normal . I'm glad everything went well for you.

He used to run a very good Dukes site on angelfire.com called 'Tilley's Dukes of Hazzard Website'. It had pictures of a lot of the vehicles from the show, including variations of the Generals used. It also had episode guides, guest stars and many other categories. Sadly, it disappeared a couple of years ago.

You could look for Six Flags Magic Mountain, but I wouldn't go to Santa Clarita on public transport if I were you. You'll need a car to visit all the locations. I did find that MegaBus go from Oakland to Burbank for upwards of $34 each way if you want to visit the WB Studios. It's about six and a half hours each way on the bus. Did you know that the BART line made an appearance on Dukes? It's on the mirrored map they use for Morgan's Airfield in 'Officer Daisy Duke': MaryAnne flipped the map and traced the location to Walnut Creek - see here for more info.

Ãdh mór ort! It's St. Patrick's Day, so I went with Irish .

It's a shame you don't drive - you're only five hours away from Santa Clarita (mainly straight down the I-5). A lot of the non-studio scenes were filmed around Santa Clarita and Lake Sherwood.

MeadowMufn was due to have an operation today - you'll have to be patient! The only scene I can find with dialog near to your signature is in 'Jude Emery'. Jude is hidden in the back of the General when Luke discovers a rattlesnake up front. The snake comes out after Snake Harmon's accomplice repeatedly runs into the General. Jude: What's going on? Luke: We got a rattlesnake here in the front. Jude: Don't let him back here. There ain't room. Bo: Luke, you're thinking, ain't you? Luke: Oh, yeah. After a pause ... Luke: They like mice. Bo: Do you have one on you? Luke looks at Jude. Jude: There ain't room for a mouse, either. Bo: Well, think faster.

That was definitely more exciting than the last few weeks, and I'm not normally a big fan of Bristol. I thought Ricky drove a great race today, especially the second half. I was also impressed with Kyle Larson - he probably deserved a few places better than 10th. Kevin Harvick's car was smoking before he hit the wall, and it was something mechanical rather than just a rubbing tire. Martin Truex Jr. was also told by his spotter that his car was smoking (this time it was a tire), but carried on until his tire burst.

Surely they'd only need two or three umbrellas to cover Bristol Motor Speedway - it isn't very big .

What good timing! A rain delay just in time to let me watch the second half of the Top Gear Burma special .
-
Could your view of the incident be slightly biased? Gordon came out of his pit box and hit the back of David Ragan's car as he was driving by to enter his pit box. I'm not sure what else Ragan could've done.

They had rain during the qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix yesterday, so they put on the wet weather tires and got on with it! If the race is postponed, just phone into work and tell them you're Irish - tomorrow is a holiday here because it's St. Patrick's Day .

Hazzard's station is only seen once. It's in the season 2 episode 'Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough'. See more in the Hazzard Square thread. Although the station only appeared once, railroad tracks appear in several episodes like 'Granny Annie', and 'Danger on the Hazzard Express'. The jumps from 'Granny Annie' were filmed at Oxnard. These pictures are taken from the episode guide:

NASCAR modified the group qualifying rules for the race in Bristol this week. Changes included allowing the use of cooling units in the pit lane and an end to cool down laps on the apron. Denny Hamlin lines up on pole for Sunday's race, but Brad Keselowski is just behind with his third front row start in three weeks. Jeff Gordon starts in sixth and Jimmie Johnson is just outside the top ten in eleventh. Ricky Stenhouse is in 21st, so I hope he can make up some places from there (he was 16th in practice 1). After two weeks of failing to qualify, Landon Cassill makes it back into the field in 31st. 1 Denny Hamlin 2 Brad Keselowski 3 Matt Kenseth 4 Joey Logano 5 Marcos Ambrose 6 Jeff Gordon 7 Kyle Busch 8 Greg Biffle 9 Ryan Newman 10 Kasey Kahne 11 Jimmie Johnson 12 Carl Edwards 13 Kurt Busch 14 Dale Earnhardt Jr 15 Clint Bowyer 16 David Gilliland 17 Jamie McMurray 18 Cole Whitt 19 David Ragan 20 Kyle Larson 21 Ricky Stenhouse Jr 22 AJ Allmendinger 23 Aric Almirola 24 Michael McDowell 25 Casey Mears 26 Austin Dillon 27 Kevin Harvick 28 Paul Menard 29 Martin Truex Jr 30 Justin Allgaier 31 Landon Cassill 32 Josh Wise 33 Alex Bowman 34 Michael Annett 35 Reed Sorenson 36 Danica Patrick 37 Tony Stewart 38 Brian Vickers 39 Travis Kvapil 40 Ryan Truex 41 Parker Kligerman 42 Joe Nemechek 43 Timmy Hill David Reutimann and Dave Blaney failed to qualify. The Food City 500 from the Bristol Motor Speedway is live on Fox this Sunday at 1.00PM ET. PS. If you can't wait that long, don't forget that the Formula 1 season starts this weekend with the Australian Grand Prix. It's an early start with the action getting under way on Sunday at 2.00AM ET.

Siege Might as well stick with the movie theme .

Down (I'll go with another movie title: Black Hawk Down)
-
Shoveltown had a sheriff's office (on the right in the picture below), so it's quite plausible that there was at least a jail cell or two.

Hawk (Hudson Hawk is a Bruce Willis movie)

Shoveltown appeared in 'The Hack of Hazzard' near the end of season 3. Here's what it looked like: There are a few more pictures in the Hazzard Square thread.

I haven't mentioned Michael Schumacher for a while, and the reason is that there wasn't any change in his condition. Recently the doctors began the process of bringing him out of his induced coma, and today his family released a statement saying "We are and remain confident that Michael will pull through and will wake up. There sometimes are small, encouraging signs, but we also know that this is the time to be very patient." It's not much, but at least it seems like a bit of positive news. Full story: Schumacher condition shows 'encouraging signs'

It's based on the number of posts you've made. See my post here for more details.

Mufn, I can't promise you a personal visit from Cale Yarborough to cheer you up before your operation, but here's the signed picture that the Dukes originally asked for .
