It was Reginald D Hunter who I saw tonight. I was going to post a video of his stand-up, but most of it contains a fair amount of swearing, so I decided to go for an interview instead (there's a little of his stand-up in the middle).

It's the June bank holiday weekend here in Ireland, which is always the time for the annual comedy festival. I've just got back from my second show of the day, and my friend got dragged up on stage while the comedian got the audience to shout his name. It was his own fault for shouting something out. We were in the second row, and I knew to stay quiet! Tomorrow is as close as I'll get to Dukes - one of the acts I'm seeing is from Georgia .

Danica was driving an Indy car in the Indy 500 yesterday. Although Indy and Formula 1 cars are both open-wheeled, that's about as far as the silmilarities go. It was IndyCar where Danica originally made her name, before she switched to NASCAR. I don't follow IndyCar, but the commentators mentioned that the cars had lower downforce than previously at this year's race, and most of the crashes were cars spinning while following in the "dirty" air of other cars.

I got to see most of the Indy 500. Who would've thought that both races would have Aussie winners? Congratulations to Daniel Ricciardo and Will Power.

I'm watching the Monaco Grand Prix now. I may try and catch the Indy 500 later.

As the page loaded and jumped up and down a bit, I got to read Roger's comment (above) after MM's latest post, and thought he was referring MM's mother-in-law coming over! Have mother-in-law jokes ever been a thing in the US? In the UK, Les Dawson used to be known for them in the '70s/'80s:

I recently discovered that they've made two seasons of a French version of Wheeler Dealers with Gerry and Aurélien (instead of Mike and Edd/Ant). By the end I was starting to recognize more and more of the car parts in French, despite last studying the language over 30 years ago and forgetting most of the little I knew since then.

I guess you have a while to wait before Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange gets married (she's only 14) .

Thanks for posting the video, Roth. It's good to see Tom enjoying himself in Europe again. I think he likes meeting Dukes fans - the owners of General Lee replicas I met at last year's American car show had both met him. He's certainly quite happy to talk about the show, and is very generous with his time.

So it retained its roof moldings like General Lee? Didn't Charger 500s have flush rear windows? Maybe that's part of the story.

You probably wouldn't have liked the buffet anyway, Roger - I didn't hear any mention of squirrel on the menu! The British channels have had three or four days of people trying to guess every aspect of the wedding, which means hours of "experts" talking about nothing. It's only a few weeks since the last royal baby, and the TV coverage was nearly as bad for that. This time they managed to find quite a few Americans to interview, and some of them are almost as mas as the British fans. About ten years ago, British comedy duo Armstrong and Miller did some parody royal correspondent sketches as part of their show. Watching them back, they're not that far from the real thing!

Sadly, I didn't get invited. I guess I didn't spend long enough with the groom's father last year . With an American bride, are you getting a lot of coverage in the US? I know some of y'all will have to get up very early to watch the ceremony live.

Even more so if Roger's the first one to post it! I haven't bothered to read up on the subject, but they were discussing it on the radio earlier. Apparently, the "Laurel" sound is at a lower frequency and the "Yanni" is at a higher frequency. Older people tend to hear "Laurel", although if you listen to the clip for a long time, some people who originally heard "Laurel" start to hear "Yanni".

I could only hear Laurel. I'm obviously not as Hardy as I thought I was!

A lot of these drivers were well before I took an interest in NASCAR, and I don't tend to watch/read much outside the actual races, so I'm quite pleased with 30/47. Two of them I got because of Dukes, and I'll credit another three to Garrett . Some of the questions were lazy - I counted three where two of the wrong answers were the same as each other, another had Danica Patrick as a possible answer for a picture of a male driver, and my favorite where the driver's name was on his car in the background!

I remember earlier winners, but I think the first show I remember watching is around 1980. The 1980 contest was won by Johnny Logan of Ireland with "What's Another Year", followed by the UK's Bucks Fizz with "Making Your Mind Up" in 1981 and Germany's Nicole with "Ein bißchen Frieden" in 1982 (Nicole sang her victory performance in German, English, French and Dutch). I always used to say I wouldn't bother watching Eurovision, but now I normally seem to have it on if I'm home. In case you missed the results, Roth, the Netherlands got 121 points, easily out-scoring the UK's 48, although Ireland got 136. All were dwarfed by Israel's winning score of 529!

I've found myself watching the annual Eurovision Song Contest again. They've just had the entry from the Netherlands (Roth's home country), and it was a country singer with the stage name "Waylon". It's certainly different from the other songs, and I quite liked it. Here's his performance from the semi-final two nights ago:

Inspired by Roth's search, I checked out a popular car selling site in the UK. They only had two of the older Chargers for sale. The first is a restored 1968 model in black with a supercharger and big wheels (it looks similar to the 1970 Charger in the first Fast and the Furious movie) for £70k (nearly $95k). The second looks like a beautifully restored 1969 R/T in blue, but the price is £80k (just over $108k). Another site, which specializes in classic cars, has a black 1968 Charge for £85k ($115k). For comparison, there's also a 1972 Charger for under £20k. I assume that these are the top end of the price spectrum. When "Wheeler Dealers" shipped a 1970 Charger back to the UK and fixed it up in 2011, they sold it for £20k ($27k), and that included fitting a Dixie horn!

Can either of you add any more info, because it doesn't ring a bell at the moment?

I know that this is a very old thread, but it seemed silly to start a new one. I was watching the 1965 movie "The Loved One" earlier, and spotted a familiar face playing the lead. Here's Robert Morse, aka. Dewey Hogg, as Dennis Barlow. The movie's a rather strange yet enjoyable satire on the funeral business in Los Angeles. It dates from two years before "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying", the Robert Morse movie which had its title parodied in his Dukes episode, "How to Succeed in Hazzard". In "The Loved One", Robert pulls off a quite convincing English accent throughout, although a brief attempt at what I took to be Scots isn't as good. There's quite a list of well-known co-stars, including Rod Steiger, Milton Berle, James Coburn, Sir John Gielgud, Roddy McDowall and a cameo for Liberace as a casket salesman. Additionally, Lionel "When they met...it was moider" Stander plays a newspaper staff writer masquerading as an advice guru, and Paul Williams (Little Enos in SATB) gets his first acting role as a boy genius rocket maker, despite being in his mid-20s at the time.
