  1. Welcome to the HazzardNet! Susan is my wife's name!

  2. Okay, so let's review. Some folks like me don't like the word mafia. Some folks here view the word "mafia" differently even though they don't like the real mafia. Well, I think the Dukes of Hazzard is the best show to ever be on television and my wife thinks General Hospital is. I love her with all my heart and I've given up trying to convince her I'm right and she's wrong....and.....we still have a wonderful marriage despite our disagreement. I've accepted the fact that she's wrong about what the best TV show in history is and she'll probably never see the light. She's done the same. She tolerates the Dukes of Hazzard and I tolerate General Hospital. Friends don't agree on everything....be they next door neighbor friends, forum friends or married friends. But they can still be great friends. I respectfully make a motion to let the healing begin. It hurts too much to see people I love not getting along. Hmmmm, maybe we can find common ground and start a thread explaining why Dukes is better than General Hospital. Now if I can just find a way of convincing my wife to read it.
  3. I'm sure it's in my notebook but I never check it when doing trivia because that takes the fun out of it. I'm going to say the Courthouse because that's all I can think of. I know the sign in front of the courthouse has several things written on it (and they change on occasion). I'm not sure but that's my educated guess.

  5. I guess I'm a little old fashioned because I'd never wear a shirt with the word mafia on it. I suppose this whole thing does have a bit of a generation gap to it. Older folks like me think of mafia as being a bad thing and younger folks don't look at it like that because the word's evolving. It reminds me of the cowboy/Indians thing from the 60s. When I was young and heard the word Indians, my normal reaction was to think "bad" because they always looked like savages in the movies of that era. Now we know better. They were just folks who were defending their land and (like all cultures) there were bad people amongst the good ones. Later, movies like "Dances with Wolves" changed the way we looked at good and bad. Now the word Indian isn't bad anymore. For some reason the word mafia is turning into a good thing. I have no problem with words evolving and changing from bad to good or vise-versa as long as we don't rewrite history and make it sound like the murderers in the mafia were some kind of heros. Unlike cultures that have good people and bad people in them I've never heard of good mobster. Language might evolve but a mafia hit man will always be a murderer no matter what happens to the word mafia.
  6. Hmmm, I'm just wondering if Cooter's wife is a Big and Rich fan. Words in the English language (and probably any language) change in time and often that can lead to things getting stirred up like they have here. Nobody's to blame. It's just one of those things that happen when language evolves. It makes me wonder what the word mafia will mean 100 years from now. If we're all still logging into the HazzardNet in 2111 we'll all get a chuckle about this. Hopefully my long white beard won't get in the way of the keyboard.
  7. Congratulations Kristy and Denver!! That's awesome. As soon as Kameron's old enough to type get him to sign up for the HazzardNet!
  8. Welcome to the HazzardNet!

  9. Hmmm, Loomis is the only one I can think of but I wouldn't bet the farm. I know Loomis was a town name and a sheriff's name but there might of been others.
  10. Cool! That statue was the exact thing Mick was talking about when he said that in Rocky III. Of course if your General Lee would have been parked there nobody would have even noticed the statue!

  12. Hey Garrett, my friend that I'm always talking about that's a huge NASCAR (and Dale JR) fan went to Charlotte. It was the first BIG race he's ever been to. He had really great seats. I was watching the end and jumping up and down when it looked like Dale was going to win. I couldn't believe he was that close and couldn't finish. It's not that I wanted Jr to win but I really wanted my friend to have a good memory that will last a lifetime. Oh well, he's only 21 so hopefully he'll get another chance. He's already trying to plan a trip to Daytona. I was pretty disapponted in the language from Jimmie Johnson's crew chief. For some reason the time delay wasn't working so I imagine somebody's getting fined by the FCC. I realize the engine blew but, come on, a lot of kids were watching and he disgraced the whole race team with his immaturity and lack of discipline. When he left work today I reminded my friend to check his gas gauge.
  13. To quote Mick in Rocky III "A definite ting a beauty"
