I've officially gone back to the future. In early 2007 I'd never touched a computer because I had no use for them. Then someone told me that you could find anything on a computer. Of course my next question was "Dukes of Hazzard?" The rest is HazzardNet history. In 2010 I started getting into fantasy sports and then political forums and car forums and astronomy stuff. I got overloaded. Earlier this year I started thinning things out until all that was left was HN and fantasy sports. Now I've even quit fantasy sports and I'm back to living like it was 2007 all over again. Since we got rid of our 12 years old Dell and bought this laptop, fantasy sports has never worked right but I put up with it. It constantly kicked me off and things constantly popped up that were irritating.....and then the viruses came. Six more today alone. So I quit and feel like a big weight has been lifted. And yes we have an anti-virus program and I have a son-in-law who is a computer engineer but none of that helped. I can't 100% sure blame fantasy sports but everything is pointing to that. I hope I don't miss fantasy sports. For now I'm celebrating putting it behind me. If I start to miss it I'll put pop in a Dukes episode. That always seems to fix what ails me.

My Pirates lost in extra innings so I have it on NASCAR right now. The Busch brothers are duking it out in the #1 and #2 positions. I chuckled when the announcer said that nobody races the Busch brothers harder than they race each other. Now they just showed the crash the Busch boys had with each other in 2007 when battling for first. You're right Garrett, that Pirate win in the bottom of the ninth yesterday was pretty crazy.

Will the weekend results count in fantasy NASCAR competition or does this mean our league has the weekend off? I guess it doesn't really matter because I'm going to be in last place like always no matter what the answer is. The Pirates are tied in extra innings against the Astros so I'm not paying too much attention to racing. Thanks for your updates Garrett. I see your Cubs beat the Mets 8-2 today.

Roth, I stopped doing the Duke or Dupes because of lack of interest but it would still be easy to play since hundreds of them are still available here. Just click on a page and scroll to one of them. The trick is focus on Uncle Jesse's picture. That way you won't see any answers before you want to. Then, after you've made your guesses just scroll to the answer....instant satisfaction! In a way, that's better than having to wait two or three days for the correct answers. Thanks for your interest in Duke or Dupe. I'm sure you know you can always post your own for others to answer OR you could even take over the trivia thread....or both! Just make sure you find a middle ground. Questions that are too easy or too hard can be frustrating to people answering.

Don't be confused by the term "reality TV show" Hoss. Situation comedies are making a comeback. I say that because "reality TV" isn't reality anymore. I'd bet a dollar that the folks on Duck Dynasty are using plots written by professional writers. This show is a boatload of fun but I'm certain that these scenes are choreographed just like a sitcom. I don't mind though. I'm not a fan of reality TV either but Duck Dynasty is a situation comedy if I ever saw one.....and it's an awesome situation comedy! I doubt any of the "actors" have had any (or much) acting experience but I'd still define them as actors. I also should probably retract an earlier statement. After further consideration I wouldn't exactly rate it PG. There are enough situations that a PG-13 rating would be warranted.....not many of those situations, but a few. Most episodes don't have any. It sure has been a long time since I had this much fun watching television.

There's an old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I've been very blessed with happiness and I'd worry that my life would change too much if I hit it big so I'm not sure if I'd want to win the lottery. I've always said that half the poor people I know are happy. Half the rich people I know are happy. Half the middle class I know are happy. If that ain't proof that money doesn't buy happiness I don't know what is. Still, it would be fun acting like Abraham Lincoln Hogg and buying black convertible Cadillac and drive around giving money away.

This has gotten confusing. I sent Garrett a check for thirty million dollars and the next day I saw that Hoss has sent the money too. After seeing that Hoss had taken care of it I cancelled the check and had the post office cut it off before it arrived. They sent it back and I destroyed it. Then I noticed that Hoss had just bought a thirty million dollar laptop and couldn't give Garrett the money. Since Garrett is such a good friend I decided to write another check but noticed I was all out of blank checks. I then called my bank to ask for more blank checks but they said that they were going out of business because their biggest customer had just withdrawn thirty million dollars out of the bank to buy a computer and they were forced to close their doors. I was going to file a lawsuit against the bank but then I realized that Hoss is probably the guy they were talking about and he's such a good friend I didn't want to draw him into this mess. Besides, if his thirty million dollar laptop gets confiscated by a civil court judge he wouldn't be able to post anymore. Maybe you should try a bake sale Garrett.

We all can certainly relate to having a love-hate relationship with our computers. It's especially frustrating when you don't know much about them. I'm quite certain I'm the most computer illiterate person here on the HazzardNet. Being computer illiterate just makes things 10 times more frustrating. I was going to try Hoss's idea of putting the computer in the blender but then I realized that I'd ruin it.....the blender that is. I hope you get your problem fixed soon Hoss. By the way, if I have a computer virus is there any way I can spread it without knowing I'm doing so? I'm not suggesting that I might have caused Hoss's problems but I do want to act responsibly. I never post links (because I don't know how) so I suspect I can't spread this virus. My computer's been fine lately though so the news isn't all bad.

LOL Those two screen grabs were a really thoughtful thing to do Hoss!

I have to admit, I'm now a fan of Duck Dynasty. This time of the year I don't watch much TV but I've gotten hooked on these rednecks. For those of you who aren't aware, it's the #1 show on American cable television. It's nice to see there's still shows out there with values similar to those on Dukes. This show has no offensive language or sexual situations and is about as PG as you can get. I suppose I shouldn't say none at all....but hardly any. Despite it's (relative) wholesomeness, it's #1. There is hope for this old world. My favorite character is Phil. That's probably no surprise since he's the most Uncle Jesse-like character. Although I wasn't very happy when he acted like his grandchildren were an inconvenience. Any other DD fans out there on the HN?

I hope you had a nice birthday Garrett. Thanks for the update. My daughter and her family are in town for my grandson's birthday so I didn't see any of it.

Thanks for these responses. My son-in-law says that we have contracted a virus and he was unable to remove it. After doing a few procedures the computer is fine for now but he's not optimistic that it will last. I suspect I got the virus from playing fantasy baseball but I can't be sure so I won't mention which venue I play fantasy baseball in. If the virus isn't their fault I wouldn't want to hurt their reputation....especially since I'm sure that they do everything they can to prevent hackers from doing bad things. I have decided to quit fantasy sports after baseball season is over. It's not just the concern of viruses. It just takes up too much time and I was a much happier person when the only thing I used a computer for was HazzardNet and e-mail. Thanks for all the work you've been doing on the server Meadowmufn!

He certainly is missed Garrett. He would have turned 93 today.

After drinking his iced tea Jesse moved into the living room. He sat in his recliner and starting reading the farm report in the middle of the local/regional section of the newspaper. Before he knew it he was sleeping. Five hours of cutting firewood had finally gotten to his old muscles and bones. Moments later he was dreaming of running from revenuers in his old Ford that he had named Black Tillie.

Welcome to the HazzardNet Roth. It sure is nice to have you here. I also like the name Roth. In fact I've been working on a book for years and the main character is King Roth. Don't get too excited. It's my second book idea and the first one didn't get published so I doubt this one will. We hope to hear a lot more from you, Roger

I really do hate computers. I only started using them because I was told I could find Dukes related stuff on the internet. After using the HazzardNet for a few years I started branching off to other things but now I'm going in the other direction and am down to three things. Now all I use this contraption for is HazzardNet, e-mail and fantasy sports. I'm slowly phasing my way out of fantasy sports for various reasons and it looks like I'll end up being where I was when I first started, just HazzardNet. I seem to be a lot happier when I'm on this thing less. One of the reasons is all the problems I have with it. They're constant. Thankfully my son-in-law is a computer engineer and cleans it up several times a year. Right now it's all messed up again. Luckily he's coming over Saturday but the way it usually works is that he fixes it, then a week later more problems develop. Then I'm stuck with this piece of junk for a couple more months until he comes again. Sometimes I think we were better off with our 12 year old Dell. Anyways, I'm sorry for not logging in but I get so frustrated with computer problems that it's just becoming not as fun anymore since I'm constantly fighting pop ups, disconnections, long delays, and every other imaginable problem. It takes an hour to do the simplest thing. Hopefully things will get better after my son-in-law visits. For now I'm cursing the invention of computers and probably won't be logging in for the rest of the week until my son-in-law can fix this thing and explain why it hates me so much. Maybe it's because I told it the only thing it's good for is the HazzardNet. Oh well, at least it's good for something.

A few hours later Jesse walked in the farmhouse after returning from cutting firewood on the back 40. He noticed the Hazzard Gazzette laying on the dining room table and grabbed an ice tea and sat down. "Hmm" he muttered quietly to himself, "the big race is coming up. That means the boys will be arguing over engine tuning, tire pressure, carbeurator adjustments and oil additives." He then smiled. "Yep, it's an annual tradition around here." Jesse stood up several minutes later, "Now I wonder where those boys are."

My Pittsburgh Penguins just won in overtime so I just turned it to NASCAR. They just went to a commercial while playing Danger Zone from Top Gun...NICE!
