Good one Skipper.....LOL.....I never did hear from that guy again.

That is SO COOL that you found this Skipper. I sure miss BoJamesDuke. She was awesome and was a good friend. I wish she would stop by and visit the HN once in awhile but I suppose that's how things go on forums. Yes, Skipper I sure appreciate you being the first to friend me on FB and I will always be thankful for that....and thankful you have been such an amazing addition and contributor to the HazzardNet. You have added a lot of excitement to the 'ole HN and we are so lucky you joined. My wife did get me another tablet....a cheap one so it won't be as big of a deal if it breaks down so I might return to FB but I was thinking of waiting until after the election to avoid all the insanity the next several weeks.

Thanks as always for keeping us informed.

Meal & Beer/Moonshine with Dukes cast members
RogerDuke replied to Skipper Duke's topic in General Discussion
I'd pick John too but only because I have never met him and he still seems interested in the show. Sonny would be my top pick if I hadn't already met him twice. I've always loved his character and his real-life personality. I haven't met Catherine either so she would be my second choice. Stars I have met include, Luke, Cooter, Rosco, Enos, Coy, Big Ed Little. -
I feel your pain Spike. When cool temps come in September my allergies are at their worst. The last few days have been pretty bad. I don't usually take medicine but since we were around other people I had to this weekend. My wife's father was in the Army in Germany in the late 70s and we get together with her friends (and their husbands) from high school every year so this year we met near Penn State. The actress Julianne Moore went to school with my wife. She showed her to me in the yearbook and she doesn't look that much different than she does today. My wife hasn't spoken to her since high school. Beautiful day today. I slept in and then worked on firewood. Astronomy tonight!

I just got back from a 3 day trip and I'm exhausted. I'll catch up with some of these post later but for now, just wanted to say that I'm happy to be back on the HazzardNet. I hope everybody had a great weekend.

Crazy weekend ahead so I probably won't watch an episode until Monday.
-
Cooling down here too. No rain forecast for the next several days and we sure need it. Our well is good but a lot of folks are going dry.

I didn't notice but I thought she looked familiar! Thanks for the info.

The Great Insurance Fraud.....season 5 Rosco is pulling people over for traffic violations and giving them the option of a $300 fine or buying a $150 policy from Hoggoco Life Insurance that pays out a million dollars if you die. Two scammers named Ward and Lavinia get a policy with the intent to collect the million. They rig a car up to make it look like Ward is in it. The car goes off a cliff, blows up and sinks in Bottomless Lake just after the license plate falls off. The bad thing is that the 3 younger Dukes were in the General on the same curve at the same time it happened. Coy was driving and even though it wasn't his fault he blames himself for some odd reason. Rosco threw Coy in jail and Jesse was forced to put the farm up for his bail and then Coy went in to a deep depression and even had nightmares. Lavinia showed up and surprised Boss with a claim of Ward's death and demands her million dollars. She explained that she knew the insurance was a scam and threatened to turn him in to the State Insurance Commission if he didn't pay up. To avoid getting sued, Boss signed everything he owned over to Rosco who immediately started to treat Boss as bad as Boss always treated him. After finding a yellow car that he thinks might have witnessed the accident, Vance meets Lavinia and gets knocked out by Ward and tied up. Lavania then calls Boss and tells him she will accept a quarter million in cash to settle the deal and he agrees and then eats the paper he signed giving everything to Rosco. Jesse and Coy rescue Vance and he tells them that Ward and Lavinia have a helicopter coming to pick them up. After locking Boss and Rosco in a closet, Ward and Lavinia take the money and grab Daisy as a hostage. After the chopper took off from the Boar's Nest, Daisy smacked and choked the pilot enough that he had trouble controlling it and dropped close enough to the ground for Vance to grab onto one of the landing feet. He then drained the fuel out and forced it to land and the bad folks went to jail and it was another Hazzard Happy Ending! --The bad guy was listed as Wade in the closing credits but they called him Ward the entire episode.

Enos in Trouble.....season 5 The Duke boys gave Enos a ride to the depot to pick up his footlocker that had just arrived from California. While loading it in the General, two bad guys named Burke and Carter hold them up at gunpoint demanding the locker but the General gets away after a chase. Boss is excited about his new business venture, General Hogg's Southern Fricasseed Pigs Feet as Rosco informs him about the attempted robbery. Boss suspects Enos or the Dukes have something valuable. While at the Duke farm Enos flips through the locker but finds so surprises. The locker stays at the farm when the boys drive Enos into town because Boss wanted to see him but on the way there the bad guys start shooting at them but they get away. Later, back at the farm, the 4 Dukes go through Enos's locker and Daisy finds a flashlight full of stolen emeralds that Enos didn't know about. Boss and Rosco overhear the news when the Dukes call Enos and tell him they're bringing the gems into town. Burke and Carter steal a car and Rosco chases the Dukes with the hopes of grabbing the emeralds but his car ends up in a tree. When the boys give the gems to Enos Boss demands them but the boys know Boss will keep them so they whisk Enos away while the bad guys are ransacking the farmhouse with Daisy and Jesse safely watching at a distance. After the Dukes and Enos bury the emeralds, Enos snags Daisy's jeep and drives to town and turns himself in to Boss. Enos told him he wouldn't reveal the gems location until the California police arrive because he had called them. Burke and Carter then pretend to be the California police but when they are quickly exposed as phonies they kidnap Enos and drive away. The General, Dixie and Sheriff's car take off after them and they get away but not for long when the Dukes see their car at an abandoned barn. To create a distraction they light some leaves in metal barrels and call the fire department. Once again the bad guys get away with Enos but it's the General Lee, Coy and Vance to the rescue. Later, the real California police pick up the emeralds. -- Funny scene with Rosco picking thorns out of Boss's booty after he fell in the briar patch. Later, Boss had a pillow tied to his sore behind. -- A rare sight of a General Lee headlight. Coming into town the left headlight cover was open.

I love that song! Cooter sure looked different in that movie.

I nominate Skipper and Hoss.

There is a very high percentage of these places that were built on the exact spot that a real castle stood earlier. Or, the remodeling job was so extreme that there is hardly anything left of the original. It could be just a matter of pride too.....like someone who has a pond but calls it a lake. I doubt there are laws against anybody labeling something a castle but I could be wrong. Boldt Castle certainly wasn't built for defensive purposes. The author of this book, Jasmina Trifoni, does appear to be taking liberties with the word castle so I tend to agree with you.

The Hazzard Hustle.....season 5 Boss set up an illegal horse race betting operation in Rapaho County with a guy named Swifty, who hooked all the phone betting lines through the Duke farm's phone so in case Boss gets caught he can frame the Dukes. The phone rings constantly at the farm even though the Dukes can't hear any voices on the other end. While Boss and Rosco are in Rapaho, Boss puts Enos in charge but he lets it slip to the Dukes where Boss is so he sends Enos and Rosco out to arrest them....which they do....but they got away. New Boss, Billie Tucker and her massive thug named Bull find out about Boss's betting scheme so they visit him and Rosco. Bull shows them that they are angry when he bends Rosco's pistol barrel. Boss blamed the Dukes and sent Billie and Bull to their farm. In order to draw them away from Jesse and Daisy, Coy and Vance told Billie that it was their operation and then hopped in the General. After a chase Billie's car got stuck. While that was going on, Boss and Swifty moved their phone lines to a different location in Rapaho. The boys found out where the old operation had been and went back to tell Daisy and Jesse. Then the boys found the telephone pole that Swifty had tapped into and Vance listened in and figured out how the operation works. Daisy and Jesse found the location of Boss's new betting sight and Billie and Bull found Coy and Vance but the boys got away again. All 4 Dukes then met in Cooter's garage. The next day was the big Dixie Derby so Daisy dressed like an old lady and bet $150 on "Country Dancer" at 50 to 1 odds. Vance had spliced into the phone lines and beat Boss at his own game and knew who the winner would be. Billie and Bull then showed up and took the suitcase full of the better's money. Coy and Vance chased them and used a well placed dynamite arrow to crash their car. The betters got their money. Boss lost his money and the Dukes donated their winnings and their phone stopped ringing. -- This episode should have been titled "Rapaho Hustle" since most of it was in Rapaho County -- Cletus was mentioned again....still on vacation

I'm not sure if there is a clear definition of a castle but for whatever reason the author included it.

The only one on your list that is in my book is Windsor. It has such an amazing history. Boldt Castle and Biltmore are the only 2 in the US that made the top 50. We visited Boldt Castle a couple years ago. Other favorites from my book? Hmm, Highclere, Chenonceau, Schloss Schwerin, Neuschwanstein, Peles, Chambord, Leeds.

We had grandkids all day today and yesterday. They sure keep us young.

Vance's Lady....season 5 Coy and Vance went to the bus stop and picked up Jenny Waldon. "Two or three years ago" Vance and Jenny were "engaged to be engaged" but she didn't like the country and he didn't like the city so it didn't work out. On the way to the farm, a thug named Dugan who was working for Senator Jason W. Maynard, tried unsuccessfully to run them off the road. Jenny had been Maynard's secretary and discovered that he was stealing money from taxpayer funds and Maynard was after her because he didn't want her to report him to the authorities. He was also trying to make it look like Jenny was the guilty party. Dugan told Boss about Jenny and Boss wanted to get in good with Maynard (Boss had fantasies of becoming president of the USA someday) so he left with Rosco in his convertible (not Boss's car, Rosco's.....his roof was taken off when chasing the boys earlier.) They went to the farm to get Jenny but she was gone with Vance so Rosco went to arrest Coy instead but he got away and picked up Vance and Jenny. After a chase Jenny explained to the boys what was going on. She then ran away because she didn't want any of the Dukes to get hurt but Enos found her. He didn't have her for long because the boys rescued her. Since Dugan had the telephone system effectively shut down, the boys had to get Jenny to Atlanta to report Maynard and his thugs. They hopped in Jesse's truck with Jenny. Daisy and Jesse hopped in the General Lee as a decoy but the General was caught by Dugan and his co-thug named Wade who had just gotten into Hazzard. The bad boys got on the CB and told the good boys that if they didn't come to the farm Daisy and Jesse might get hurt so they all met at the Duke's place. Vance had the CB on when Wade and Dugan confessed and then they took Jenny away at gunpoint. Boss heard the confession on the CB and decided to help rescue her. Vance got on top of a big tree branch and jumped on the moving car and with the help of others, saved his sweetheart. Maynard, Dugan and Wade ended up in handcuffs and Vance ended up with a sad heart when Jenny left. -- This isn't the first time Boss has dreamed of becoming president. When he said "I may just get into the oval office yet." Rosco responded "And it would fit your little chubby figure." -- Boss told Enos that if he becomes president he might make Enos "Secretary of the Inferior."

Big Daddy.....season 5 Boss's father once told him that he would only inherit his millions if he becomes an honest, successful person who is loved by his fellow citizens. So when Boss gets a telegram that Big Daddy Hogg is coming to town he gets a little nervous and he stages things to make it look like everybody loves him and before you know it, Big Daddy's limo is pulling into town for the reunion. Earlier, Boss had Rosco switch the General Lee's CNH 320 license plate with one on a pick-up truck of a guy named Jenkins, who had just gotten the bad end of a deal with Boss for stolen merchandise. While Cooter is gassing Jenkins' truck up he notices the General's plate on it and calls the boys. Jenkins sees Boss on the street with his Daddy and Boss wants to show how good he is so he gives Jenkins the money he deserved. Moments later Jenkins sees Ernie, Big Daddy's limo driver, and Waylon hints that Ernie or Big Daddy or both are crooked. While Boss is on the street giving away money, Big Daddy and Ernie conspire to steal Boss's money. Later, the 4 Dukes catch Jenkins and got the plate back. Jenkins escaped but not before tipping them that Ernie is crooked. Big Daddy and Ernie see Boss open his safe and Ernie pulls out a gun and takes $50,000 from him. Ernie is only pretending to be working alone. Big Daddy is in on it. When Ernie tries to leave, the limo is blocked in so he hijacks Vance and the General and later kicks Vance out. Out in the country Cooter sees Ernie and Big Daddy meet up and Ernie abandons the General and hops in the limo. The Dukes figured out that they had been working together and told Boss on the CB but of course he didn't believe them. Everybody ended up meeting and sorting things out. Big Daddy thought Boss would be mad but just the opposite was true. Boss was proud of him and happy to know that he was just like his Daddy. He later realized that his Daddy kept $5,000 of the 50,000 but didn't even bother to chase him down. -- This was a very well written episode even though it was odd that Big Daddy had never been mentioned in the past 5 seasons. -- I don't rely on my "Unofficial Companion" book much but it said Cletus's last episode was two episodes earlier. Either it was wrong or the episodes weren't aired in order they were filmed....which is what I suspect since he was in this one. Seeing him was a nice surprise.

It was probably screaming "You're nuts!" (sorry...couldn't resist)

Hey Hoss, I just picked up this huge book about the 50 most beautiful castles in the world. It's a picture book but has a decent amount of information too. It's no surprise that the majority of them are in your area. Do you have any favorites?
-
That's an interesting question and is certainly possible. On the other hand, Coy rhymes with boy and Bo doesn't. I wouldn't be surprised if you are right though.
