  1. Hobie slides in directly after and looks around wondering what happened to Meadow! He's glad everybody made it safely but his concern over Meadow ........wait! There she is! She just pulled in! ( He was worried! )

  2. Garrett Duke's heart sinks heavily in anger and disappointment as he sees Hobie's car catch up besides him after holding such a beautiful lead over him only minutes before. Momentarily his reaction goes back to what he would have done a few years ago when he was in Atlanta and "accidently" swerve to run Hobie off the road, but he quickly dismisses that thought. He couldn't do that to Hobie or anyone in the race. Taking a deep breath, he does the only thing he can do and that is stand on the gas pedal and pray to cross the finish line first. "C'mon Spittin' Cobra," he hisses at his car, "don't fail me now. I'll patch you up and spoil you once we cross that line!" He pats the dashboard of his car and smiles as his beloved car responds with a jolt forward just as he reaches the finish line barely ahead of Hobie who crosses the line a half second after him. Garrett shows an unheard of reaction by pumping his fist up and says, "Way to go, Spittin' Cobra. You did it!" With that he pulls the car over to the right to park in a parking spot and slowly climbs out to watch the rest of the field come through the finish line to cheer them on.

    Hey guys

Welcome to HNet, Knelb4zod. Roger did mention Loretta Lynn, but as he points out, she wasn't caught in the speed trap.

  5. But before Meadowmufn took sixth place the battle for fourth was fierce between Jesse and Emma. Jesse's front bumper crossed the finish line first but when he got out of the truck the race judge (Enos Strate) was already handing the fourth place trophy to Miz Tisdale... Jesse complained "Now Enos, Emmer ran a good race but I'm sure I crossed that there finish line first". Enos replied quickly "Um, I'm sorry about that Uncle Jesse but Miz Tisdale had two fishing poles tied to the front fender of her dirt bike and they stuck out so far that they crossed before your bumper." Jesse erupted " What in tarnation did ya do that fer Emmer?" Miz Tisdale smiled "Now don't you remember Jesse? You was so confident you'd finish ahead of me that you promised to take me on a date to the Hazzard Pond if I beat you." Jesse smiled, "All right Emmer you win. But yer gonna be the one cleaning and frying the fish." She smiled back "I'm okay with that. As long as I can come out to the farm to do it."

  8. Watching from behind, Jesse sees Hobie take advantage of Garrett's misfortune and pull beside his car. From Jesse's view it looks like both cars crossed the finish line at the same time. The checkered flag waves. It appears Jesse won't know the winner until he finishes the race and asks. All he knows is that it looks like a photo finish. Skipper clearly has third place wrapped up. Losing to a guy pulling a yacht is a bit humiliating but Jesse is happy for Skipper. Now, there's the business of fifth place. He looks at Emma. There just might be a photo finish for fifth place too.

  10. Garrett allows a bit of excitement as the finish line comes into view several feet ahead. He glances behind to see his competition momentarily and as he looks ahead he hits a bump and cusses out loudly and regains control of his car. With the finish line coming he feels his passenger tire going flat. Frustrated, but not giving up, Garrett pushes the gas pedal farther down to force his car to go faster in hope of making it to the finish line ahead of everyone else.

Thanks for the info! Sitcoms are typically not my kind of show, but I occasionally watched episodes of a few when growing up (such as Growing Pains & Facts of Life). In the U.S. for a full season, usually 22-24 episodes is standard for original network (CBS, NBC & ABC) shows, including sitcoms. However, sometimes if shows premiere later in a season they will have less episodes. DOH premiered about halfway through that TV season (January 1979), so Season 1 only had 13 episodes. Nowadays though, cable network & streaming shows usually have only around 10-13 episodes a season. Rick should have stayed on DOH.

  12. Jesse comes around the final corner and looks at the long home stretch to the finish line. Garrett is in the lead. Hobie is right on his back bumper. There is a gap between Hobie and third place Skipper. Emma Tisdale is neck and neck with Jesse, now quite a ways behind Skipper. This thing will be over soon folks. Unless something changes dramatically Skipper will finish 3rd. But 1st and 4th are anybody's guess.

The show that Rick left for was "Amanda's". He played the chef, Earl Nash, at Amanda's by the Sea - a hotel run by Bea Arthur's character Amanda. The show was based on the iconic British sitcom "Fawlty Towers", but was cancelled after 13 episodes. The show also starred Fred McCarren, who was Neil Bishop in "The Big Heist". "Fawlty Towers" famously (at least on this side of The Pond) only ran for two seasons of six episodes each (six episodes is the standard season length for British sitcoms), and they were four years apart due to the stars/writers getting divorced in-between. Here's the first episode of "Amanda's". I assume by the picture quality that it hasn't been released on DVD or repeated lately. Rick appears at just over eight minutes in.

I've just checked - he hasn't logged in since September 7. I hadn't realized it had been that long.

  17. Just offering a little Uncle Jesse advice here. And a little reminder. Any time a new person joins and puts up their first post we should all respond. Even if it is with a single word "Welcome". I have been in their situation before....checked out a forum and received little response for my first post. That doesn't mean I didn't come back the next day. But it can be just enough reason to get them to stay. If they are interested in Hazzard enough to post in the first place, they just might be someone who hangs out for a long time. ❤

No, I was referring to Brian Coltrane’s original comment that Rick Hurst had left DOH to do another series as well, that also got canceled.
