There's a video here which discusses the penalties and gives a brief explanation of where the louvers are and what they do.

  3. Here's a just-posted Knight Rider Historians video. In this one, the owner of a screen-used General Lee takes it to Ray Kohn for a bit of work. Other than a few new items like the battery and tires, it's in original condition, complete with battle scars, dubious welding and evidence of several paint jobs.

Well NASCAR really knows how to pour salt into an open wound. Not bad enough that Elliott is out...let's go penalize the entire team of Hendrick while they are at it, right? Well that's what they did. NASCAR confiscated their hoods before last Sunday's race and found something wrong with the hood louvers. Whatever they are. Kyle Larson wasn't too concerned about it...but I guess he should have been. Highest penalty since Michael Waltrip's penalty in I think 2003. I think he got a $300,000 fine back then (I am pretty sure that is when he put jet oil or jet gas in his cars. It as something bizarre like that). Hendrick got $400,000 fine. The drivers got a 100 point season fine, and if t hey make the playoffs, 10 point play off fines. Crew chiefs got suspended. Plus more...I'll post the article. Perhaps Chase Elliott is the lucky one after all of this...as he is not named as punished, since he is out (I assume). Alan Gustafson, his crew chief, is. I'm pretty upset at NASCAR over all this. I view it as NASCAR picking on the top dog as they are the team to beat, right now. But I am sure that is the fan in me wanting to be upset. I don't even know what the hood louvers are. Anyways...enough of my petty opinion. Here is the article. https://www.nascar.com/news-media/2023/03/16/nascar-cup-series-2023-atlanta-101/ Sorry Hobie...your guy Denny Hamlin also got penalized. But he got penalized 25 driver points and $50,000 for intentionally wrecking Ross Chastain. Denny needs to learn to keep his mouth shut...he pretty much came out and said he intentionally wrecked Chastain after the race. Hendrick is going to fight their charges...don't see how Hamlin can after admitting it to the press he intentionally wrecked Chastain. Sorry Roger...I don't know any other Georgia drivers out there racing right now other than Chase Elliott. Though they will be racing in Atlanta this weekend. Does that count?

Over the years Bo and Luke used many QUARTS of oil in the General Lee.

  8. I watched the YouTube videos as they came out, and those gave me inspiration to make my own 1/10 RC General Lee, with the Team Bluegroove body and a Traxxas 4 tec 2.0 vxl as the chassis not nearly as professional as anything posted here, with the main problem being that the is roughly 1cm to wide, so the tires stick out 5mm on each side, but they don't look to bad, definitely a different look though.

    Smokey And The Bandit

Until I just googled it, I didn't realize that the Diablo Sandwich probably originated in Smokey and the Bandit (I assumed it preceded the movie). Apparently, Jackie Gleason improvised a lot of that scene. There's an article about the Diablo Sandwich here. It mentions that while the Old Hickory House at Forrest Park (as seen in the movie) closed years ago, there is still one in Tucker, GA. While a couple of cheeseburgers and a glass of iced tea cost the Bandit "dollar and a half" in 1977, the cheeseburgers are now $6.29 each with a tea at $3.58 (that's $16.16). The Diablo Sandwich is $6.99. The Old Hickory House website is here.

Buck OWENS Got caught in the Celebrity Speed Trap in 'Hughie Hogg Strikes Again'. I didn't remember this phrase, so I checked it out. Weirdly, the closed captions have it as "He'll foreclose quicker than a mineral swimming nickel dipper". Likewise, in 'Baa, Baa White Sheep' Cooter says that Boss "Changes into a black suit quicker than a mineral-swimming nickel dipper" (again according to the closed captions). It's not the first time that the closed captions have been slightly out. After listening to both, I think he actually says "...quicker than a minnow'll swim a nickel dipper". There was a small discussion about this line back in 2007.

NICKELdipper! He'll foreclose quicker than a minnow will swim in nickeldipper. (Cooter in Hughie Hogg Strikes Again.)

  13. I am brave! I have eaten the Smokey and the Bandit Jackie Gleason (Sheriff Buford T. Justice) meal of Diablo Sandwich 4 times now. 3 times sandwich only. 4th time the complete meal sandwich and Dr. Pepper with it. My mom tried it in the Slider version. She said "To hot for me Bobby." The 1st 3 times I ate it, my nose ran after I finished it. I see why he ordered a drink with it. To help cool it off. So hot. That's why while eating, he patted himself on the chest and went "Whoa!"

Oh no, I don't know who to root for. Anybody from Georgia? Even better, northern Georgia....and is good enough to have at least half a chance of winning anything?
