HazzardNet Announcements

News and Announcements regarding the website and forums, posted by the Admin.

  1. Well, I finally updated the forums to the latest version. The company that makes the software was going to stop supporting it by the end of the year. It looks a lot different, so it will take some getting used to. I will probably be making changes here and there to settings, colors, layout, etc for a bit. If you run into any problems or you have any suggestions, please add them here or PM me. We're dragging HazzardNet kicking and screaming into the future! 🤣 RIP Old HazzardNet. You served us well. We'll miss you!

  2. Started by Meadowmufn,

Howdy, folks! I will be attempting a software update on the forums this weekend, most likely Saturday. If all goes well, we'll have spiffy new forums. If all doesn't go well, I'll be rolling back to the current forums software. Wish me luck! I'm going to need it.

  3. Started by Meadowmufn,

I'm planning on updating the forum software this weekend, April 8th. It might be unavailable for a short while.

  4. Started by RogerDuke,

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm getting a little depressed that the HazzardNet seems to be past its prime. I know we've had ups and downs here but this downturn in posts seems to be a little more serious than the down cycles we've had in the past. Don't get me wrong, there's still some great things going on here, like Roth and Hoss's behind the scenes thread and Garrett's very active NASCAR threads but overall this place has gotten slower than a snail running on fumes and two flat tires in molasses. We need to find a way to do something about it. Let's use this thread to kick around some ideas. My first idea is to revive the trivia thread so that's what I'm g…

  5. Started by Meadowmufn,

I have finished migrating to the new forum software. Welcome to the new forums. Excuse the dust as I get some of the kinks out and continue to tweak the look and feel. Not everything tranferred as smoothly as I'd hoped, so you may have to re-do signature pics or avatars. If you find any anomalies, please PM me or post here about them so I can investigate. Thanks!

  6. Started by Meadowmufn,

I just realized that I have 999 posts and decided to mark the milestone with a special 1000th post. Now, I know many of you folks have more posts than me. The ol' Meadowmufn has been pretty busy and hasn't been able to keep up with a lot of you younguns (and a few olduns). LOL. I wanted to use this post to sincerely thank all of HazzardNet's wonderful members that have made this website home and have helped me, Brian, and MaryAnne build HNet into a thriving Dukes of Hazzard community. Y'all are like a second family... kinda dysfunctional, but family nonetheless. It's hard to believe I created my first Dukes of Hazzard website over 12 years ago. That website evolved into…

  7. As ya'll know, we promote all things Dukes of Hazzard. Not just one cast member, but all of 'em. We do our best to keep ya updated on everybody's appearances and projects. We try to be as fair and balanced as possible in this respect. One of the ways we keep promoting the Dukes of Hazzard, is by reminding the programming directors and media producers that there IS a big Dukes of Hazzard fan base. One of the ways we can show that, is by Facebook "Likes." Since so many big companies are taking Facebook very seriously, we've had to do the same. By no means are we slowing down our main site here. But a boost in our FB numbers will help as we pursue the release of "Enos…

  8. Started by Meadowmufn,

We added a new classified ads section to HazzardNet. If you have anything to sell or are looking for particular items, post an ad! http://www.hazzardnet.com/classifieds/

  9. Started by Meadowmufn,

By the power vested in me as the owner of HazzardNet, I hereby declare HossC as the newest moderator of our forums. Many of you know he's a long time veteran of HazzardNet and has been keeping a keen eye on the forums in my absence, so I figured we'd make it official and give him moderator superpowers to toss any spammers and riff-raff in the hoosegow.

  10. I've decided I'd put together an all-purpose suggestion thread here so on the rare occasion that any of us actually do any work around here, we'll have an idea of what you'd like for us to improve. So, what would y'all like to see here at HazzardNet? We do have some guidelines... 1) It has to be feasible both financially and in terms of our collective skills. 2) It has to be something that can be accomplished in a month or two. We have short attention spans. 3) I'm sure there's something else I wanted to put here, but... well, refer to #2 about the attention span. So, ask away!

  11. I think I may have figured out the solution to the login problem. It had to do with not updating instances of http to https. I think I've resolved the problem. Please let me know if you still encounter issues. -Mufn

  12. Started by Meadowmufn,

We're trying out something new here at HazzardNet. A little toolbar should show up at the bottom of your browser that allows you share HazzardNet on social networks, check out our YouTube gallery, translate the site to other languages, and chat with other folks currently on the site. There are no downloads or any changes to your browser. It's all in the website code. Please give us feedback on it. Do you love it? Do you hate it? Do you like it, but with there were some changes? Post your feedback in this thread!

  13. Started by Meadowmufn,

Just a heads up, folks. I'm seriously considering switching to another forum platform and am currently investigating alternatives. I will, hopefully, be making the change sometime in the next week, so there may be some intermittent forum downtime. I want to provide a better experience, including mobile, for everyone and the current software is not as flexible as I would like. If you have any suggestions or would like to provide some input, feel free to post here or PM me.

  14. Started by Meadowmufn,

I poked around a bit and found the setting to enable Facebook Likes at the top of each thread. If you're on Facebook, feel free to share your favorite threads with your friends.

  15. Started by Meadowmufn,

I did something I might end up regretting. I started a HazzardNet discussion group on Facebook. Are any of you on FB and want to be a moderator in the group? Ask to join the group and PM me your name and HazzardNet username. I'm only looking for veteran HazzardNet folks at the moment.

  16. Started by Meadowmufn,

The current version of the forum software will no longer be supported by the end of the year. I'm planning on upgrading to the next version before then. I'd like all your input on when the best day of the week/time I should do it and do you think a) the sooner the better or b) wait until later ? Looks like it will overall be a better experience and it looks like they have a mobile app too.

  17. Started by Meadowmufn,

So, I decided to try my hand at making videos. I decided on a short format quiz to start. I'm sure any of you here can get 100% on this. Let me know what you think.

  18. It looks like CMT has pushed the Dukes off the schedule again. I hope it's not permanent, but it seems like every week, I see the Dukes scheduled on the national listings for the following week. Then when that week comes, this listings change again there's that dumbass "singing bee" or something instead. CMT's Dukes Facebook page has not had an update in several weeks. CMT's main website has also played bait-and-switch; I've seen them list the Dukes for earlier this month, and now, amazingly, they're not being aired for another two weeks. Currently, they have the next Dukes episode airing on May 22nd at 1:00 a.m. eastern. I do my best to keep ya'll updated on Dukes of…

"Whoever gossips to you, will gossip about you." Just a little old Spanish proverb that a lot of y'all should keep in mind.

  20. Started by BoJamesDuke,

I've posted this thread also down in her own character section, but John has reported on his twitter that Peggy Rae, the wonderful woman who brought Lulu Coltrane Hogg to our screens so many years ago, has passed away this week. 'Dukes fans out there mourn the passing of the delightful Peggy Raye this week. Lulu Hogg made millions smile. She's in a better place. John' My condolences and i'm sure many others go to her family and those friends that were so close to this wonderful lady.

  21. Started by Meadowmufn,

Folks, we'll be upgrading the forum software within the next week. The forum will look quite a bit different and might take some getting used to, but it can't be helped. Our current software will soon no longer be supported and the new software is supposed to be more secure. We appreciate your patience as we transition to the new forum. I'll post specific dates/times when we're ready for the upgrade.

  22. Started by Jami Lee Hogg,

Horrible news! I just heard that Dukes stuntman Al Wyatt Jr. passed away this morning. My prays and thoughts go out to the his family and friends.

  23. Started by Meadowmufn,

Someone, who shall remain nameless unless they want to reveal themselves, has graciously paid for HazzardNet's hosting this month via the Ko-Fi widget in the right sidebar. I did, however, create a new badge that I will give out to everyone who contributes. So, if you want to go poking around, you'll probably find said individual. 🤭 Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I won't go into details, but the last 6 months have probably been the roughest of my life and, though I have been a little absent from the forums (though I have been working on a few things in the background), I am so grateful for all of you. I know there's always a place here I can come to get away…

  24. Brian posted a pic today on Facebook of the General Lee jumping with the caption "Happy Humpday" (since it's Wednesday). Well, one of our Facebook fans, Dawn, being the Dukes of Hazzard fan she is, corrected us. It's Happy JUMP Day! I don't know why Brian didn't think of that. It's what I pay him for. LOL. Anyway, we hereby decree that from this day forward, all Wednesdays shall henceforth be known as JUMP DAY! Yeeeeeehhhhhhaaaa! Not yet a fan of our Facebook page? Go to http://www.facebook.com/thehazzardnet and LIKE us!

Howdy y'all! Well I dunno about y'all but I'm tired of seein' that the most users ever on HNet was 35, set back in February of 2005. So I'm issuing a challenge to all our users out there! Every night this week I wanna see as many users as possible here at HNet. I know most of you visit the place in the evening hours so I'm gonna set the time between 7 and 11 pm. Now, obiviously I don't expect all of ya to hang around for 4 hours to add to the numbers but...you're welcome to. LOL. Actually, you don't even have to post anything, just be at the forums page. You could have HNet open in another browser while you continue doing yer thing. Okay, I'm probably asking too much b…
