Fanfic Challenges

Official and unofficial fanfic challenges can be posted here. Official ones will be posted by Admins but anyone can issue a challenge to their fellow writers. Rules & due dates (if applicable) should accompany each challenge.

  1. Started by MaryAnne,

Details on this section coming soon....

  2. Started by Meadowmufn,

Ok, I promised it in the Appomattox Challenge and here it is! The dog collar challenge... I'm gonna give y'all a few options on this one 1) Write a story in the perspective of Flash (or any other random Hazzard mutt). 2) Write a story in which a dog collar is prominently featured. or for the more adventurous of you... 3) Write a story in which one of the characters ends up wearing a dog collar. (Keep the stories PG-13, please! Of course, you could always send the moderators "alternate" versions that won't be posted. *ahem* ) Y'all have til June 30th. Sadie needs a new collar. And if y'all don't pitch in to help her out with a story or twelve, she's just gonna have to do…

  3. Yep, you read that right. The tables are being turned. First, though, thanks again to everyone who participated in the Bail Bond Bonus Challenge. We had great updates to Dukes of Hazzard Fanfic.com and everybody did a fine job on their stories. I, of course, appreciated the contributions on a personal level, in addition to enjoying the stories themselves. Sal-ute! And now, it’s time for some friendly revenge. I’m officially announcing the Appomattox Challenge, which puts MaryAnne’s authority on the line. Quite simply, if we don’t get in a few stories by April 09, then MaryAnne is to surrender all rank and title to me, unconditionally. Then, I’ll be able …

  4. Started by MaryAnne,

Since our Ghost Post Challenge was pretty successful, we thought we'd try another challenge for y'all! And I'm actually posting this in the correct forum this time. ROFL Anyway! Alex actually thought of this one and I figured that it saves us from having to come up with the idea. Then Val added an extra twist to it and it saved us again from having to come up with the idea! This is working out too well. Strangely enough it's happening at a time when Brian and I are on a temporary furlough to the spirit world. One might think there's treasonous thoughts lurking within the innocent minds of some Hazzardites. Not that we're paranoid or anything. Heh! But we are known to be…

  5. Well cousin, it's been three whole days since I posted the challenge announcement. Gotcher story written yet?

  6. Started by Meadowmufn,

We've all seen tv shows with a character getting amnesia, being trapped (in an elevator, freezer, vault, etc), role reversals, twins, the trip out of town (Hollywood, Hawaii, etc), mistakenly thinking they're dying, etc. Well, I issue an ongoing challenge for folks to write a Dukes of Hazzard fan fiction story using a commonly used tv cliche. Of course, many Dukes episodes featured some of these same cliches, so you may also take one of these episodes and re-write them a new way, perhaps switching the characters around. Feel free to list your favorite cliches in this thread to spark some ideas for our writers!

  7. Started by MaryAnne,

  10. Too late for a Christmas challenge? Tonight, was reading through previous holiday stories. There are some really good ones, that were only a few pages. Focused on one character. Terrific longer stories too. Here is the challenge: Write a story that takes place around Christmas or New Years. Even if you only get part of it done, share a preview and turn in when finished. Maybe you have a story that you've never submitted, submit it! Does that sound good?

  14. It can be scary, doesn't have to be. Maybe just a few minutes or hours. One of my favorite stories I ever wrote, took a small nap, woke up from a dream and started typing. 4 hours later - there was 15 or 16 pages to turn into MaryAnne. There wasn't much editing either. Granted, not every story will be that same result. Unless you try, how can you know that same wonderful feeling? I challenge those who haven't written a solo story, to attempt too!

  15. Started by Val Strate,

I have an idear here. I'm going to try this tonight but I don't know when I'm gonna finish. I would like to see what others would come up with as well if they tried this. What about a song challenge? Write a story with created or orginal Dukes characters. Make it a story that follows or uses the words of one of the following songs. Sometimes short stories are best for this but long would probably work too. Here's some songs to pick from: Nickleback: Savin' Me Far Away Next Contestant Faith Hill: Sunshine and Summertime Fireflies Like we never loved at all Simon & Garfunkle: Sound of Silence Homeward Bound Willie Nelson: The Party's Over Blackjack County Chains Mr. R…

Hi. First of all, I'm a reader, now a writer, but I enjoy most of the stories I find here. Is there any Enos/Daisy/boys writer willing to take on the time period between them all leaving Hazzard and meeing at the reunion? I mean, about Daisy meeting LJ, how Luke got into firefighting, Bo into NASCAR, etc. I am into Daisy/Enos, so I'd like something that covers his reaction to her marriage, going to college, etc, but would take anything. I'm not a fan of 500 page, one liner stories, but would appreciate anyone's feedback. No flames, please, I really am an avid fan of DOH. Thanks, Marilyn

  17. Secret Santa Challenge Short Story – 1500 words or less Main character: Enos Other characters: Rosco and Mrs. Berry Spoiler: Enos's first Christmas working as a Hazzard County police officer. EMS: Holiday Heart Enos had read the new notes written in a case file several times since he had started his shift. The original investigation had occurred during the second week of him being on the Hazzard County police force. Last night, someone tried to rob a gas station on Blossom Road during the time Enos and Rosco were both on shift. When they got back to the station, the deputy had needed to get off duty or risk having the county commissioner call Enos into his office abo…

  18. Started by MaryAnne,

So I noticed in the Sick Day Challenge thread that the following two issues were brought up... 1. I dropped the ball on issueing the Valentines Challenge (*sigh* so much for my tall dark and handsome man in the three piece suit and aviator sunglasses story...dang it...) 2. This challenge section of HNet denotes that only Admin/Mods can post challenges. Well, dip, what moron decided that? Oh. THIS moron decided that. Whups!! Okay, well, since I blew it on the Valentines Challenge, Alex reminded me about how we once did a Luck Challenge (back in '06 I think it was), where you write a story involving luck, either good or bad (or no luck at all LOL). SO! In another post, I'm…

  19. Started by DixieRose_00,

I was just thinking today about writing a crossover having to do with The Dukes and the Bourne movies. I thought it might be interesting to try to do and I haven't seen anyone try it before.

  20. I posted this on the Dukes of Hazzard Forum on FF.net known as "The Boar's Nest" and thought I'd post it here too. The challenge is to write a cross-over with our favorite family with any fandom of your choice. Understandably some parts of canon may have to be ignored for this to work but PLEASE keep them all in character. After all, what fun would it be to read a fic that was a Dukes fic in name only? If you take on the challege let folks know where they can read your story. Either here, FF, or some other site. This could be fun.

  21. Started by DixieDavenport,

Anyone interested in helping me wonder our way through Hazzard to the State Capitol and find out how our favorite mechanic and my big brother, went from the greasy, hairy mechanic to a cleaned up, shaved Congressman?? What made him even interested in running and since he's there, how has Hazzard benefited???

  22. Started by 1hellraiser,

Ok, Lets see how this works. Please respond with crit. How they got caught (spring 1977), The boys are at still site 3, with Cooter. When Jesse pulls up. “Bo, Luke you boys get ready for the run, and Cooter will go back to the garage.â€, Cooter leaves as the boys begin to box up the shine. “Hey Luke we gotta go to Marietta, then all way to mobileâ€, Bo explains. “yeah I know it’s a hard run, after were done, we’ll stay in mobile overnight and sleep, we got at least a good 7 hour driveâ€, Luke describes. The last jug is boxed, for the 30 gallon run. They walk back to the house. “You boys ready, I got a bag filled with …

  24. Started by Brian Coltrane,

Are you a daydream believer? Does love lie bleeding in yer hands? Has cupid's arrow hit a Hazzardite in the posterior? Or are you simply a fan of the Valentine's Day Massacre ? Write a story and tell us all about it. I'm lookin' for Valentine's Day / Romance fics! Yes, you can show a fun-filled date between Daisy and Enos - or, have Miz Tizdale chase Uncle Jesse around the post office. You can show Bo Duke falling for Girl Du Jour, or maybe Daisy gets another disappointment from the latest drifter-passing-through-Hazzard. Happy or sad, 1-pagers or full stories, it's up to you! NOTE, there's just a couple of ground rules, which I'm sure you've anticipated, given…

Here's our theory on Bo and Luke's final run: Bo and Luke are tearing down the road in the General Lee on what was to be their last run. As usual, Rosco pulls in behind them. Luke: Right on schedule. Bo: Good ol' Rosco. Luke: Better go ahead and lose him Bo. He's too honest to let us go with this load. Bo: 10-4 cousin. The general speeds up and Rosco laughs and picks up the cb. Rosco: Okay rookie. Let's see how you hold up with the real pros. I've got a couple of runners heading south on highway 124. Show me what you can do. Rosco drops back and Bo and Luke are fairly confident that they've lost him. Bo: That was almost too easy. Luke: Bo look out! Another police car…
