For those that want to reminisce Nascar has been uploading some classic races to their YouTube channel interesting hearing the v6's in the old Busch series of the 80's.
  2. Sorry about your losses Roger and Hobie. Friday I felt like Al Bundy , even though there was blue sky above me I got drenched from off and on rain showers in the afternoon while mowing. Thought to myself 'is there a rain cloud just following me around' .

Martin Truex jr dominated the Goodyear 400 at Darlington winning both Stages and the race and led the most laps. Only Kyle Larson gave him a challenge for the lead late in the race but the #5 wasn't handling like Kyle Larson would have liked. There were a couple of scary crashes into the inside wall but all three drivers walked away, a testament to the safer barrier and crumple zones built into the car chassis. William Byron extends his top 10 finishes to 10 in a row and that consistency put him #3 in points standings, he is also the only driver with that many top tens this season. Top 10 1 Martin Truex jr 2 Kyle Larson 3 Kyle Busch 4 William Byron 5 Denny Hamlin 6 Kevin Harvick 7 Chase Elliot 8 Ryan Blaney 9 Chris Buescher 10 Ryan Newman

Here's the Gen 7 Cup cars https://www.jayski.com/2021/05/05/manufacturers-unveil-nascar-next-gen-cars/ Unfortunately with this there will ultimately be layoffs following the final race of this season as teams will not need chassis or body fabricators as well as other jobs that will now be handled suppliers https://m.nascar.com/news-media/2021/05/05/vendors-parts-suppliers-list-next-gen-car/ Wonder how long it will be before they move to a single engine manufacturer like they did in the truck series.

Basically it was. I thought Nascar was done "manipulating" races after Brian France was ousted but apparently not. Phantom Cautions became a running gag for years, it was so bad at one point Fox commentators were even joking about them. They should have called the caution for the tire when it rolled away from pitlane instead of waiting for the last car that had not pitted yet to pit, then they waited another few laps after that car pitted to throw the caution. It just reeks of race fixing. And Nascar Officials wonder why Nascar is not taken seriously as a Motorsport in the rest of the world.

    NASCAR news

Nascar Officials once again created controversy with cautions in both the Truck and Cup series races. In the truck race they seemed to randomly call a caution for spinning trucks one time but not other times. In the Cup series with 30 laps to go it was for a tire that was neither on the pit lane or anywhere near the track. Even Jeff Gordon, Clint Bowyer and Mike Joy said there was no need for the caution just before the yellow flag was thrown. Surprise surprise Kyle Busch won the Buschy McBusch 400 race after Nascar's BS tire caution caused multiple wrecks and cautions. Kyle Larson dominated the race and had a big cushion to the 2nd place car before the infamous tire caution. On the restart Denny Hamlin got the lead but couldn't hold off a hard charging Larson and eventually brushed the wall which brought out another caution. On the next restart they never even got a lap in before another wreck and caution. Kyle Larson ended up finishing 19th. Top 10 1 Kyle Busch 2 Kevin Harvick 3 Brad Keselowski 4 Matt Dibenedetto 5 Chase Elliot 6 Martin Truex jr 7 Tyler Reddick 8 Chris Buescher 9 William Byron 10 Austin Dillon Onto throwback weekend at Darlington next weekend. Both races will be on FS1 so more than likely there will be a ratings drop from last year's race. On a sad note Bobby Unser passed away Sunday. He won the Indy 500 3 times in 3 decades, one of only 2 drivers to do that. He also made 3 starts in the Cup series in car numbers 13, 99 and 41. His best finish was 4th at Riverside in 1973. You also might remember him from the Nascar broadcast booth where he worked alongside Benny Parsons from 1986-1992.
  14. Was our 17th anniversary yesterday. Since we're vaccinated we went to the movie theater for the first time since 2019. Seen Godzilla vs Kong, good action packed movie though some of it was predictable. Only four other people showed up, of course they picked the same row to sit that we did lol but they were quiet. Theater's got to be losing money airing a movie for just 6 people though. Wouldn't surprise me that at least one of the 3 local multi-plex theater's will be closed permanently within the year. Have a good weekend.

Here's the ultra confusing format for the all star race https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2021/04/28/chase-elliott-denny-hamlin-martin-truex-joey-logano-kyle-larson-nascar-all-star-race-format-revealed/ Good luck following this during the race. The starting lineup will be set by a random draw. The first round is 15 laps. An inversion will take place (minimum of eight cars and maximum of 12) before the second round, which is 15 laps. The entire field will be inverted before the third round, which is 15 laps. Another inversion will take place (minimum of eight cars and maximum of 12) before the fourth round, which 15 laps. Starting positions for the fifth round will consist of the cumulative finish from the first four rounds. The lowest cumulative finisher starts on the pole, second-lowest starts second, etc. All cars must enter pit road for a mandatory four-tire pit stop during the fifth round, which is 30 laps. The fastest team on pit road during the mandatory stop will earn $100,000. The starting positions in the final round, which is 10 laps, are set by finishing positions in the fifth round.

  18. Tuesday I transformed a bare concrete front porch/patio with four planters. In two large round pots at the east and west corners I planted large Elephant Ear bulbs which should get about 5-6 feet tall for a bit of privacy with a surround of Petunias which will hopefully drape over the side. In between those large pots I placed two rectangular raised garden bed planters with various flowers. Then I surrounded the area with a small plastic picket fence, it's not the size I would have chose but it's what the homeowner wanted. I'm looking forward to seeing it in a month or so when the plants have filled in.

Joey Logano took a scary ride Sunday at the end of Stage 1 when Denny Hamlin turned him launching Logano into the air nearly landing on Bubba Wallace's car. Thankfully Joey Logano was fine. Matt Dibenedetto came close to getting the Wood Brothers racing their 100th win but blocked the wrong line and Brad Keselowski went on to win. This win ties him with Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt jr on Talladega wins and is also his 35th career win. Matt Dibenedetto arguably had the fastest car as he was able to make power move passes without pushes from other drivers. Part timer Kaz Grala managed to finish 6th place for Kaulig Racing. Surprisingly there was no 'big one' that took out half the field as there usually is at Talladega with this pack racing package. Top 10 1 Brad Keselowski 2 William Byron 3 Michael McDowell 4 Kevin Harvick 5 Matt Dibenedetto 6 Kaz Grala 7 Tyler Reddick 8 Austin Dillon 9 Ryan Blaney 10 Cole Custer

  23. I didn't mean straight as in a person's sexual orientation, I meant straight Republican ticket as in they only vote Republican. Maybe it's only an Ohio saying lol.
  24. Hope she has a good fast recovery Roger. Been a long week. Got called back to my part time cleaning gig. My dad also had a change of heart and paid the neighbor, of course it took a little persuading by me and my uncle. Wife and I got our second vaccine shots Friday. I once again just got a little drowsy and just some arm soreness. Wife had similar reaction to the first dose just less severe this time. One of her coworkers got covid last week, of course they were at a family function so likely spread it to them as well. They ended up going to the ER but wasn't severe enough to get admitted. Looks like the drug cocktail they gave him is working though. The lady that I set the new pc up for has a tendency to click on everything. She called the other night about 10pm or so saying that a pop up said she needed to call some number to get her pc cleaned etc... She called the number and had it out with the person on the other end after they said it was going to cost $500 to do a virus scan and that hackers were stealing everything blah blah blah. I told her she shouldn't have even called the number since she has McAfee on the pc and that Microsoft wouldn't charge for a virus scan. Looks like I'll have to go over there and do a thorough check of the pc to make sure nothing is on it. Moral of this is don't click on everything you see on websites, especially ads or clickbait story's. They went a step further now, non gay voice actors can't do the voices for gay characters now . Might as well go even further and change all the kids voices to actual kid voice actors, I'm sure someone somewhere is offended by all the adults doing the kids voices too. Disney has officially ruined The Simpsons with all this stupid P.C. crap. When I heard Bruce, oops I mean Caitlyn Jenner was running for California governor as a Republican I laughed so hard my stomach hurt . I thought there's no republican that would vote for that, at least until I chatted with this one person that votes straight republican no matter who's running and they actually said if it was running for Ohio's governor they would vote for it. I laughed so hard again that my stomach hurt. It's unfortunate that none of the late night tv comedian's won't be making jokes about it due to the current social climate as that is comedy gold. Sorry for the long post but yeah it's been a long week...
