Hey y'all I was looking for behind the scenes Duke pictures earlier and came across this website http://hookedonhouses.net/2010/05/16/gilmore-girls-dragonfly-inn-and-scenes-from-stars-hollow/ which is dedicated to the tv show "Gilmore Girls". Don't ask me why but I read through the page, and found there to be a couple of Duke references. The local diner is called "Luke's Diner" and originally it was meant to be run by a character called Daisy, but because of the number of female roles already, the producers opted to have the diner owner called Luke. Here's a picture of the actor that plays Luke (Scott Patterson) I don't know about y'all but he does seem to bear a resemblance of sorts to Tom Wopat during his Luke Duke days. There's also mention of Luke having a troubled young nephew (sound familiar) come to visit him. Anyone want to "hazzard" a guess as to what the nephew was called? No he wasn't called Bo,he was called Jess. Isn't amazing how the Dukes can crop up in modern day tv? I wonder is the Gilmore Girls script writer a fan of the Dukes?
  3. Rosco and the General, casually hanging out in my front yard I've ordered a load of things off eBay for Rosco, but they haven't arrived yet. I know I keep saying this, but I will make a video of Rosco chasing the General. I was cycling Rosco home from my acting last Wednesday night at about 10pm,and I had my sports bag on the luggage rack. I was cycling perfectly legal, when all of a sudden I saw flashing blue lights and a Garda (irish police) car go by me and slow down. I stopped on the sidewalk beside the car, and the Garda asked me where I got the bike and did I know that cycling around on stolen government property is illegal. I answered that I had legally bought this bike, and repainted it myself based on a fictionious police department. At this point they got out of their car and began inspecting Rosco. After a quick glance they realized that I wasn't cycling one of their police bicycles, and were turning around to get in their car when one of them asked me "by any chance you didn't base this bike on the sheriff car from the Dukes of Hazzard?". I replied that yes I had and then spent the next fifteen minutes talking about the Dukes, showing him pictures of my second General Lee, and told him about my original one that was stolen. He said that he was and still is a big fan of the Dukes, and would keep a lookout for my stolen General. I asked him if he was a member on any Dukes websites, and when he said no I recommended that he sign up to HazzardNet. It never ceases to amaze me how many people still remember Dukes, even after being off the air for almost 30 years
  4. Here's a couple of shots of the Duke Farm post Dukes. I'd just like to thank BrianColtrane for providing me with the screencaps This first shot is of the Duke Barn. It was taken from the corner of the farmhouse As you can see the doors are shut (as far as I know this only happened once during the series,in the episode Limo 1),and the hay bales present in every episode are gone,as is the white fence that separated the hay bales from the farmyard. This is purely speculation, but I believe the fence and hay bales are missing because the bad guys truck needed to circle the whole house. This next shot might bring a tear to your eye (it did to mine anyway). Imagine what poor Jesse would say if he found out his house was set on fire by Universal Studios!! Here's a shot taken moments previously, which shows the farmhouse wearing a light yellow coat of paint Any eagle eyed fans will notice that the wall seen just inside the door during Dukes is gone, and we can see right through to the other side of the house. This shot leads me to believe that the farmhouse was also used for some interior shots during Dukes You've just got to imagine that the big empty space infront of Hasslehoff was once two bedrooms, and at the left side of this shot was where the closet where Boss hid in during "Ding Dong The Boss is Dead"
  5. Unfortunately I failed to mesure the size of the wooden mounts I would need, and as a result I had to yank out the pedals and cut into te frame to allow for ground clearance I know it's hard to tell, but hopefully you can see how bad the bend is in this next picture Sorry for clogging up the forums with more bike pictures, but I'm done for now
  6. Hey y'all!! Most of you probably figured out that I know a thing or two about bikes, and you're probably thinking to yourself "oh no here's another thread about a bike CDoherty's just built". Well you'd be right!! Except this time instead of building a bike to work on roads and trails,I've built one to work on snow and ice. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the ski bike!! This bike started life 12 years ago as my uncles college bike. For years it got him to and from college. But then with college over and a steady job and income, the bike was left in his garden to slowly rust away. Last summer he and his wife were moving house, and whilst unloading the moving van at the new house the bike was run over by one of the moving vans. My uncle salvaged what he could off it and left the rest to me. Here's what it looked like when I got it As you can see it was basically scrap, but I came up with the idea to mount a skateboard to it,and use it during our annual snow(which hasn't come yet) In this next picture you can see how badly the frame was bent, but hopefully it is still strong enough to support my weight
  7. Thanks a million Brian!! These are perfect I'll add them to the thread tonight.
  8. I can't remember too much about it,but I think it was about an illegal logging operation and a brother and sister trying to stop it. I'm not sure if this will help but the Duke Farm is set on fire, and KITT develops a glitch and ends up with a New York accent.
  9. Hoss could you mail me one or two of the little barn that Daisy hides out in in "A Baby For The Dukes",the gates of the Harver mansion and the lake where Boss's car goes into. They are both in "Undercover Dukes" Go raibh maith agat!
  10. Hey y'all!! As some of y'all may know I recently started a thread on Valencia Oaks Movie Ranch. Unfortunately it's slowed down considerably because I can't find any decent quality pictures. So if someone is able to do screencaps of the ranch I'd really appreciate it!! And also if anyone has the Knight Rider series and feels like posting screencaps of the Duke Farm and Boars Nest from an episode in Season 2 or 3 I believe, they would also be much appreciated Thanks y'all
  11. I'd forgotten about those threads Hoss, thanks for bringing them back up. If I remember correctly Pico Canyon Road has a FedEx located somewhere on that road,so it must be open to the public. Moparmotel I'd say due to their close proximity you could get in all the Valencia/Newhall locations in a day. And I remember reading a story somewhere that its possible to follow the Synx River down to Indian Dunes, although I'm not sure if the Indian Dunes section is fenced off or not. Although it wasn't technically given any screen time, I've heard that both the Veluzat's shop and Rich Sephton's shop were and still are in Newhall. And the Veluzat's Melody Ranch contains a few leftover charger and monaco parts.
  12. I don't know about Lake Sherwood but as far as I know Valencia was burnt up in the fires a few years back. But I think the sets were torn down by that stage so nothing was damaged. I saw your post about going to LA and looking for Dukes locations. The first ranch (Golden Oaks Ranch) is still used as a movie set although I think you can get a tour of the ranch if you precook it. Lake Sherwood was turned into an exclusive country club, and the only way you can get in is by a reference from an existing member. Valencia Oaks Movie Ranch (now Lyons Canyon Ranch) is owned by a developer, but it's unlikely that the ranch will ever be developed now as it's apparently in a fire zone. As far as I know there's a chainlink fence on the Old Road entrance, but you can get in from the housing estate just north of the ranch if you're not up to climbing a fence. I'm in the process of gathering information on Valencia Oaks Movie Ranch and putting it into a thread here on HNet. A tree fell down on one of the main trails in the ranch, and as a result the whole southern track and it's branches have become overgrown and disused. The lake had long since dried up (probably at the same time as the fires) and the meadows and empty lots you see in the later seasons have become overgrown with brush and weeds. I'm sure once you get out to Valencia you'll recognize certain areas from certain episodes. And don't forget to take plenty of pictures!! They sure help out me and Hoss when it comes to finding locations.
  13. Lyons Canyon Ranch is the same as Valencia Oaks Movie Ranch. Its about 1/2 of a mile south of Valencia, just off the I-5
  14. You're meant to think it's a silo,but in reality it's one of Boss Hogg's stills
  15. Hoss I believe if you go turn the camera around from the wooden bridge and travel down a few hundred meters you get to the place where the 2 bad guys in "The Ghost Of General Lee" are released at the start of the episode.
  16. This is a behind the scenes photo of the 2 car jump in the Hazzardgate Tape. This was taken to the left of the impound yard, infront of the Capitol City Junkyard. Being early on in season 5,the ranch was still being developed, and as you can see from the aerial photo from 1980 it was a barren lot. Here's a shot of Ted Barbara jumping the roadrunner in "The New Dukes". Apparently the run up was very short and he needed nitrous oxide. Ted would have used the area in the first picture as his run up. These are all photos that I've found on the web. If someone could post or email me a few screencaps of the Impound Yard and Duke Farm it would be much appreciated. My email address is conalldoherty06@gmail.com Finally I'd like to thank Hoss for providing me with an edited version of the labelled map. Hopefully this new map will be clearer and easier to understand
  17. In this next post I'm going to concentrate on the Hazzard County Impoud Yard/Tom Sarmento's shop. It's labeled as "2" on the map. This first picture is a behind the scenes picture, taken at the gate of the lot. Although the barn isn't included in this shot you can see the shadow of it in the right corner. This next shot is taken from the newspaper article about the 1991 deal. I'm sorry for the poor quality, but it's the best version I could find. This next picture is one I found on CGLFC. It was posted by a member who goes by the name of Corndog. Perhaps he is on HNet as well? The Lee on the right is the "Soundstage Lee" and the Lee on the left is the "Billboard Lee". This is one of the last photos of the ranch that I could find before it fell into disrepair. This picture is one I found on the Smith Brothers Restoration site. On the left is the late Rich Sephton, and on the right is Tom Sarmento. Behind the hill in the background is the I-5 and to the right is where the Duke Farm (1) once stood.
  18. I also stumbled across this video while I was researching the ranch http://www.lostgenerallee.com/home.htm the video is about halfway down the page. James Smith's Lee also featured in Hot Rod Magazine. There's a video of it on youtube Oh and if anyone feels like posting screencaps of any area of Valencia Ranch or emailing them to me conalldoherty06@gmail.com it would be much appreciated!!
  19. Welcome to HazzardNet Ramiro y'all may notice we do things a little different here!!
  20. The next few pictures are based at the Duke Farm (labeled 1 on the map) and Tom Sarmento's shop (labeled 2) This first picture was taken from "Happy Birthday General Lee". You can just about see the road that goes around the lake in the background. This next picture shows the Capitol city Junkyard. It took me ages to figure out where it was,but I've finally found it. I managed to figure out where it was from the hill in the background of this picture, behind Denver's head
  21. Hey y'all! A while back on the Hazzard Square thread I suggested that someone make a thread on the ranches used in Dukes. So I took it upon myself to try and unravel the mystery that is Valencia Oaks Movie Ranch. Hoss kindly supplied me with an aerial photo of the ranch from 1980,so sit back, grab a buttermilk or jug of shine and enjoy!! Here's a link to the history of the ranch http://www.elsmerecanyon.com/lyoncanyon/lyon.htm#sites This is the initial version of the photo that Hoss sent me. As you can see there's a faint outline of the road network Here's a comparison between 1980 and 2005 Now technically I could do a Travis Bell and say that this next picture is my own work, but I got this picture from richardcummins.com Here's the poorly labeled version of the map Hoss sent me. I'll elaborate on this in the future, but this is the basic version of the map
  22. Hi y'all. I was browsing HNet earlier and noticed threads dedicated to the late Dale Coenen and Glenn Call. Some of you may have known them. Unfortunately I joined HNet too late. I've read about Dale on CGLFC,and he sounded like a really nice, kind, considerate, caring person. I haven't been able to find out too much about Glenn, but from what I could find he sounded like a true Duke fan. Caring, helpful, putting others before himself, and jovial. I was hoping that, instead of letting these 2 great Duke fans fade into the background,we could come up with a title for them. I was thinking that it would be based along the lines of the Fan of The Month,or Hazzardite for Life. Or maybe have the Dale Coenen award or Glenn Call award for certain members that have done something outstanding on HNet. A few titles I came up with were "Honorary Duke Fan" "True Hazzard Hero" I'm open to suggestions as I can be shockingly insensitive without knowing it sometimes.
  23. And he was probably as honest as Boss as well. I'd say Mary Harney would be Daisy ;D
  24. Good point Hoss Who would Boss Hogg be though? Michael D or Enda Kenny?
  25. I've just ordered a couple of accessories off eBay,so hopefully they'll arrive within the next couple of days I think it was BrianColtrane who suggested making a video of Rosco chasing the General, and one of my friends (also a Dukes fan) suggested we film Rosco chasing the General. In Ireland we get a week off school in early febuary,so hopefully everything I ordered will have arrived, and I can make a small chase video, with the General winning obviously I haven't decided how the chase should start, but maybe have moonshine involved somehow...
