  1. You could always ask: http://www.goldenoakranch.com/contact/ A lot of the early California episodes were filmed there. The barn where they hid Loretta Lynn's RV is still standing, and it looks like the covered bridge is back.
  2. If you're running Windows 7 or higher, Paint.Net is a huge improvement on Paint, and it's free. You can download it here. If you want a more complex program (which is also free), you could try GIMP. That's available here.
  3. I've finally thought of a question for this thread: How much British TV makes it to the US? I wouldn't be on this forum if US TV wasn't shown in the UK. As well as Dukes, I grew up watching action shows like CHiPs and the Fall Guy, and comedies like Cheers and M*A*S*H, amongst many, many others. I know that the US has a habit of remaking UK shows with varying success. The Office did very well, but two shows featuring Rick Hurst, On the Rocks (Porridge) and Amanda's (Fawlty Towers) only made a single season. Are US audiences familiar with the original shows?
  4. Here's a map from Richard Cummins' website. I believe CDoherty may have posted it before, but all of his images disappeared in the Photobucket debacle. A larger version can be found here.

    NASCAR news

I've mentioned F1 pit crews before, but they do things very differently. An F1 pit crew consists of about 20 people, including three to work the manual jacks (one is a backup at the front) and two to hold the car steady. There's also three on each wheel: one to take the old tire off, one to operate the wheel gun, an one to put the new tire on. F1 doesn't currently have in-race refuelling, and the same pit crew have to service both cars in a team, but that's generally only between one and three times in a race. Also, the cars mainly come in at staggered intervals rather than in a big group. With that many people, you can change four wheels in 1.92 seconds: I'm not sure how reducing NASCAR pit crews from six to five will make things fairer. We'll have to wait and see.
  8. RIMFIRE RIDGE - (mentioned in "The Sound of Music - Hazzard Style")
  9. The replica nudge bars like the one you posted are bolt on items, but I believe the narrow ones in the show were welded. Take a look at www.lostgenerallee.com where they were trying to work out if they had a screen used General Lee (bolding by me):
  10. I use an image host to post my pictures (although I can't recommend the one I use), so I don't know what limit you hit. Hopefully MeadowMufn will see your question. The picture you posted shows the wide nudge bar. The earlier one was about a foot shorter.
  11. The General always had a nudge bar, but there were two different types. The one used in earlier shows was a stock item (I think it was designed for pickups) which was welded to the front bumper. In later shows, they moved to a wider custom nudge bar which was welded directly to the chassis. The second one was obviously much more practical, but many fans find the original narrow bar more aesthetically pleasing, even it it did fall off in some episodes. The screengrab below is from the beginning of "My Son, Bo Hogg".
  12. Roundabout There's a roundabout (or traffic circle as I believe they're known in the US) called Charlie Brown's Roundabout in northeast London. It got its name from a nearby pub which was demolished in 1972. The landlord of the pub and his father before him were both called Charlie Brown.
  13. You're right, Hobie. The kid is Jason Lively, and he returned to Hazzard as Rod Moffet in "The Boar's Nest Bears". Two years after that, he played Chevy Chase's son in "National Lampoon's European Vacation". Technically, Ernie Lively is Jason's stepfather. He was also in "One Armed Bandits", as Dobro Doolan. The part you're referring to is Longstreet B. Davenport, who showed up for three episodes in the second season. His final appearance was as Clyde, the Guard in "The Ransom of Hazzard County". NB. Ernie's first four appearances were credited as "Ernie W. Brown".
  14. Thanks for letting us know, MM. By chance, I watched "The Hazzardgate Tape" (Mel's other Dukes appearance) yesterday.
  15. "Flash and me, we're traveling INCOGNITO." - (Rosco in "To Catch a Duke")
  16. The crossed flags seem to be popular with people who build replica General Lees, maybe because of the affection in which they hold the Georgia episodes. Personally, I like them, but I wouldn't consider them essential.
  17. "GREAT GOBS of GOOSE GOO" - (Rosco in "My Son, Bo Hogg")
  18. BOSS sings BASS - (a claim from "Daisy's Song")
  19. Here are the crossed flags from "One Armed Bandits". I don't remember seeing them in other episodes, although they may be visible in other Georgia episodes.
  20. Ray YOUNG played Dell Webber in "The Late J.D. Hogg"
