I just got a free bike to trash. Any good ideas?
HossC replied to CDoherty95's topic in The HazzardNet Garage
I saw it a couple of weeks ago. The same group also did a minivan with the seats at the back that could do wheelies. -
Monday's Facebook picture of Ace's used car lot reminded me how clean my original version of the sign was. Ace's cars may have been clean, but his sign wasn't. Here's an updated version with more realistic colors. I replaced the larger text with more accurate outlines instead of using the closest match font. While I was reorganizing my artwork folder I realized I'd done another couple of signs that I'd never posted. First is the banner from the Drag 'n Fly contest in 'Goodbye, General Lee'. And here's three of the logos that appear on the race suits.

With the limited number of parts you can salvage, how about something like one of these?: -
I made my own Persona for Firefox, although I haven't uploaded it anywhere. It just has the General leaping through header. You can tell by the HNet banner and Firefox interface that this screengrab is now a couple of years old .

The Darlings Are Coming (Uncle Jesse on Andy Griffith)
HossC replied to TXZ045's topic in Denver Pyle / Jesse Duke
I thought I'd revive this thread after I saw the sad news that Andy Griffith had died earlier. I posted links to the episodes of 'The Andy Griffith Show' with Jimmie some time ago, but I didn't get around looking out the ones with Denver. He starred in six episodes between 1963 and 1966, including the one that TXZ045 has already mentioned. He played Briscoe Darling, head of the Darling family (the boys were played by The Dillards) who mainly lived up in the mountains. They were like a cross between The Beverly Hillbillies (which ran around the same time) and the Beaudrys. NB. All but the last one are black and white. The Andy Griffith Show (S3E25) - The Darlings Are Coming The Andy Griffith Show (S3E31) - Mountain Wedding The Andy Griffith Show (S4E25) - Divorce, Mountain Style (Not currently on YouTube) The Andy Griffith Show (S7E06) - The Darling Fortune (Not currently on YouTube) Denver looks very different without his beard - here he is in 'Briscoe Declares for Aunt Bee': Even in color I'm not sure I'd immediately recognize him - well not until he started speaking anyway . -
Well done Tim .

Are you sure . I'm surprised there are still cheap cars around after the scrappage scheme took so many off the road. In case you haven't checked, you'll be looking at €333/year for road tax on a 1300cc engine. Thanks to changes last year you'll also have to get an NCT (safety check) every year on a car over 10 years old.

There's an explanation from MaryAnne here.

I had to get another one when I started because I used Hotmail. Now I use the new one for HNet stuff, although you can just set up another one for registration and get it to forward any mail to your Hotmail or other email account.
-
I know you can't sign up with any Hotmail address. I don't know if they've added to the list since I signed up

It logged in automatically for me tonight, albeit after a short delay. When it has made me log in it works with my usual HNet username/password.

I've spotted a couple of WB locations this weekend over on Failblog. Both have been seen previously in grabs I've posted from 'The Dukes in Hollywood' etc. The first is from LMFAO's 'Party Rock Anthem', although someone's replaced the original song with the Cantina Band music from Star Wars in this short clip: . is approaching half a billion views in YouTube! The video was filmed on Hennesy Street. Here's a reminder of how it looked in 'The Dukes in Hollywood'. The second is a picture of a Batmobile golf cart. None of the commenters have yet realized that this was taken on Brownstone Street on Warner's backlot. The building at the end is part of New York Street. Here's how in looked in 'The Dukes in Hollywood'.

New member, LA filming locations

The address you give is the entrance to the Lyons Ranch , also known as Valencia Oaks Movie Ranch. CDoherty has a thread about it here. -
The Official Dukes of Hazzard Trivia Thread
HossC replied to Meadowmufn's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Trivia
I've only seen it once, but I'm going to guess that that's the one set in Ireland, so I'll go with E) People (after the 1959 movie 'Darby O'Gill and the Little People'). -
My General Lee Parts!
HossC replied to Moparman's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Collectibles & Memorabilia
I can't get them to show either, and I'm not sure why. The code is hidden in the post, I've converted the pictures to links: -
Here you go Roger - it's model #AMM964: 1969 Dodge Charger "General Lee" (Improved) To borrow from that link, the "improvements" are: 1) Improved placement and look of roof graphics. 2) Improved placement and look of door graphics. 3) Improved finish applied to Vector wheels. 4) Removed Charger & R/T emblems in grille. 5) Removed R/T emblem from taillight panel. 6) Removed Charger emblem from c-pillars. 7) Removed front and rear side marker lights. 8) Removed chrome wheel opening moldings. 9) Removed headrests. 10) Removed spare tire and jack. 11) Removed cruise control equipment under the hood. 12) 383 engine (not 426 or 440 as in past releases). 13) Removed padding/insulation detail from underside of hood. 14) Longer antenna made of a thinner material to better replicate the "whip" antenna. 15) Added primer to chassis with gloss black Mopar overspray. Idea is to hint at the General Lee's origins as a black 1969 Dodge Charger as seen in the Dukes of Hazzard "Happy Birthday General Lee" episode. Here's an Ebay search: Ebay search for Autoworld General Lee They're currently going for about $65 + P&P. I'm not sure if this is a limited release; the Ertl Authentics was limited to 5000 (I think) so they were trading for several times their original price before this one came out.

Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon - Neil Diamond This is the original from 1967, although 'Pulp Fiction' helped popularize .

This is the last track from E's debut solo album 'A Man Called E', recorded a few years before his work with Eels. I apologize for the video - it's the only one I could find on the whole internet! It's a slideshow tribute for someone's Scottie dog. Don't let that spoil your enjoyment of the song.

Of course Petey Willis needs a support vehicle, so here's his pickup truck. I used Uncle Jesse's truck as the basis for this one, but over 90% of it had to be recolored or modified in some way. I have to admit, it didn't look right until I added the larger wheels. In addition to the new wheels it also gets a front nudge bar, larger mirrors and a chrome roll bar. Note that the "Petey Willis" script is similar to the one on the car, but not quite the same (that would make things too easy!). I'm not sure if two separate trucks were used here, or if they just changed the rear bumper. I modeled the one on the left (because it's the same as Uncle Jesse's), but the truck also appeared with a thinner bumper complete with (unreadable) license plate.

I've given all the best known vehicles their own threads, so I thought I'd start one for some of the miscellaneous vehicles. I can't promise they'll all be multiple views because they take ages. I'll kick it off with Petey Willis's 1968 Chevy Chevelle Malibu from 'Welcome Back, Bo 'n' Luke'. The hood comes complete with a Corvette L88 scoop. The sponsor stickers all seem to be for fictional companies, and reappear on race cars in other episodes. I've noticed that in many episodes there were two or more similar vehicles playing the part of one. There are two distinct "ice cream" trucks in 'Swamp Molly' and in this episode there were at least two Chevelles. For the majority of the scenes they used the one in the lower picture below, but the top one was used as they drive away. The differences I spotted are the sticker placement on the front fender, the thickness of the "55" on the door and the flared wheel arches. The wheel arch modification seems quite rare; I only found one or two pictures of similar cars when I was searching for reference photos. It also seems odd that they spent all that time on matching paint jobs and then messed up with the stickers.

Here’s the shot of the “Hazzard County Fair Grounds†(“Fair Grounds†appears as two words on the sign) that CDoherty mentioned. I have to agree that the building in the background is about the size of the Boar’s Nest, and the back of the Boar’s Nest does get used in later episodes (pictures to come), but I can’t match the landscape to the location. Even back on a 1980 aerial view the area behind the Boar’s Nest was grassy and quite small. On this picture you can see a row of telegraph poles with distinctive street lights running down the side of the fairgrounds. I haven’t seen these anywhere on the ranch. I think there might be a railroad track on the other side of the fence; there’s definitely a road or track because a car and someone on a bicycle can be seen traveling past at various points. If there is a railroad it may be part of the Filmore-Saugus line that was slowly abandoned after the Santa Clara River trestle was washed out during a flood in 1976. I’ve been tracing its route on old maps and it’s easy to forget that Santa Clarita didn’t exist until 1987; before that it was Canyon Country, Newhall, Saugus and Valencia, and mostly open farmland. In the background of this picturel you can see some dark cylindrical structures on the hill. I don't remember seeing them in other episodes, and haven't found them on any aerial maps. Looking in this direction you can see one of the ubiquitous water towers above Jesse's head. I wondered if it might have been a real showground, but found nothing on Google. I think, at least for now, this location will remain “unknown†unless anyone can persuade me otherwise.
