A radio show I regularly listen to featured Steve Winwood in its weekly "four songs from one artist" section earlier today. This track didn't come up, but I dug it up for a listen anyway. It's the third post in this thread with the same title, but they're all different songs. I spotted the name Jennings in the writing credits, but it turned out to be Will Jennings, not Waylon. Valerie - Steve Winwood A few years ago Eric Prydz released a dance track called Call On Me which featured a sample from the chorus of 'Valerie' (for those of you who know the track, I picked a video with a still image rather than the aerobics one ). While we're on Steve Winwood I thought I'd include another track from when he was in a group called Traffic. I picked it because just this morning I was reading about a man called Charles Hatfield. Nearly 100 years ago he was offered $10,000 by the San Diego city council to use his secret mixture of 23 chemicals to make it rain and fill the Moreno Dam reservoir. It subsequently rained for most of January 1916, the resulting floods caused $3.5 million worth of damage, and the council refused to pay up. In 1956 his story was told in the Burt Lancaster movie 'The Rainmaker'. I don't think there's any connection between Charles Hatfield and this song, other than the title, but I couldn't resist the coincidence. Rainmaker - Traffic (Live in Santa Monica 1972)

This is my opinion as someone who has English as their first language. "Blonde" is a female with blonde hair, the male equivalent is "blond". I wouldn't use "brown" on its own to describe someone as it's likely to be taken as a not very politically correct reference to skin color. If you're wanting to refer to hair color, your choice is either "brown-haired" or "brunet"/"brunette" (male/female). Hope this helps. I'd never heard of it before, but you're right. Sorry, I misunderstood you. It looks like there's a camera on the left, so maybe they're doing a run-through and getting sound levels. Alternatively, it could be held on some sort of mechanical support arm, but I can find very few pictures where the boom arm isn't being held directly by a person.

They definitely used those boom mics for outside filming because they're visible in a couple of scenes. Both of these pictures are from the Bloopers thread. In the first from 'Carnival of Thrills' you can see the mic centered at the bottom: In this one from 'Hazzard Connection' you can see the mic at the top right and its shadow next to Rosco:

The owner wouldn't let me go through the window. Probably just as well seeing as the door locks were still sticking up. It wasn't an exact replica because it had a black interior, but is was the way the owner wanted it, and I was grateful for the chance to sit inside. I've seen pictures of the red room - it's quite impressive. I have been to Beaulieu, but it was about the time Dukes started ie. over 30 years ago - you can imagine how cool a monorail was to a small child in the late '70s . My brother went a few years ago, so it's probably time for me to go again. The show I really want to get to is the Goodwood Festival of Speed (again in the south of England). They have road and racing cars of all ages and from all over the world, along with top racing drivers, and some of the old cars go racing!

They're not so easy to see in Europe are they? I've been lucky enough to see three. The first I saw on a freeway in Richmond, VA. back in 1983, but I didn't get a good look. Then, a few years ago I went to The Cars of the Stars museum in the north of England. It's closed now and I think the collection went to Florida, but one of their exhibits claimed to be a genuine screen-used General Lee. They had several Bond cars and Batmobiles etc. as well, but they only allowed you to take photographs if you spent a certain amount in their gift shop. It was a quite a small place and the no photo policy really sucked, but it's a shame the cars have gone so far away. About two or three years ago I went to an American car show here in Ireland and finally got to sit in a General - you should've seen the smile on my face . BTW, Roth, what's the Haynes Museum like? I planned to go a few years back, but never made it.

Here's a few screengrabs to explain the geography. First is the General approaching Starr Recording from the northern end of Spring Street: This is the building that used to be on the opposite side of the street: Daisy then waits in the General in a car park which is between the studio and the freeway on the aerial maps. The back of the studio is the building above the hood on the right. Boss's Caddy escapes by driving down the ramp behind the General and going north up Williams Street (the road parallel to the freeway). This is the view looking north-west from roughly where the General was parked. The brick building on the right has now gone. The white sign just to the left of the Atlanta patrol car is actually on the far side of the freeway. The General pushes the patrol car out of the way and heads south on Williams Street. And yes, I had heard the story about the antenna.

I did notice that, but forgot to include it in my post. The back of those buildings (where the famous hood slide was filmed) has also changed considerably. Here is an aerial view from 1978 with the Starr Recording building highlighted for reference. Spring Street goes north to south roughly in the center of the picture: This aerial from 2013 shows the freeway is now much wider, and the little row of buildings by Starr Recording is about the only part of the whole area to remain untouched. The turquoise square on the lower right side is actually the top of One Atlantic Center, an 820 foot tall skyscraper.

Great pics of Atlanta. I still find it interesting that the buildings on that side of the street have survived virtually unchanged, but the other side has changed beyond all recognition. I thought I'd posted a Google Maps link in the Hazzard Square thread, but it was actually hidden away in the trivia thread (and no longer works for some reason): Recent Street View of Starr Recording building on Spring Street NW. I'm going to agree with you about the two people you named in the last picture, but can't offer any more names.

Sorry to hear that you're still having problems, Roger, but you're not alone. Unfortunately, it sometimes goes with computer owenership. Last week I did a regular Windows update and an anti-virus update, and one of them seems to have stopped Adobe Flash working properly. That doesn't just affect YouTube, but also a load of other sites that use some amount of flash on their pages. When I tried reverting to the previous setup, my computer spent about 20-30 minutes going through the motions before telling me the operation had failed for an unknown reason! After trying various unistalls/reinstalls I think I've fixed it by changing a setting in Flash, but it was a pain to track down.

Rain delay in Kentucky - it'll probably start too late for me to see all of it . When the race does start, there will be a competition caution at lap 30 to check tire wear. No re-fuelling will be allowed until then.

I've just checked out the Everything DUKES of Hazzard Related Tribute PAGE - Corey Eubanks is the lead admin for the page. Cindy Wills was a new name to me, but it looks like she doubled for Cathy in some of the stunts (her IMDb page lists some other stunt work, but not Dukes). Her name appears among the 'Likes' under some of the posts.

It looks like most of the pre-race coverage of tomorrow's race in Kentucky has centered on Kyle Petty's comments about Danica Patrick. In an interview with SPEED, Petty said “I don’t have a problem with her being a marketing machine -- more power to her.â€, but he went on to say “ … Danica has been the perfect example of somebody who can qualify better than what she runs. She can go fast, but she can’t race. I think she’s come a long way, but she’s still not a race car driver. The Chickasaw car must be from one of the later seasons as it doesn't have the fangs on the front. It immediately made me think of the stunt below from 'Hughie Hogg Strikes Again'. It's clearly not the car from that stunt, but something similar could produce the damage seen above.

I heard this on the radio a couple of weeks ago for the first time in ages. I'm suprised it hasn't made it to this thread before: Jackson - Johnny Cash & June Carter One of the listeners suggested that Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood's version is better. Was it my imagination, or were there even more commercial breaks than usual today? I'd swear that several times they only showed two laps of racing between commercials. Garrett, I'm sure you're happy with the result, but you forgot to mention DW jointly giving the command "Drivers, start your engines" and saying "Boogity, boogity, boogity! Let's go racin' boys and girls" - I bet you liked that bit too .
