  1. Watching through 'Along Came a Duke' earlier, I remembered that it was the episode which used the Warner Ranch as a filming location - see my earlier posts here. Sadly, all the famous buildings on the ranch e.g. the Bewitched house, the Lethal Weapon house, the Christmas Vacation house, the Friends fountain etc. were demolished a couple of years ago to make way for additional sound stages. I found this video which documents some of the other buildings on the ranch. This longer video shows the buildings mid-demolition, and highlights the ones I mentioned above.
  2. The silver/gray Gran Torino in 'Along Came a Duke' dates from the mid-70s (there were very few exterior changes between 1974 and 1976). It has redundant trim across the roof, so I'm guessing that it once had a vinyl roof of some kind. I think that one of the rocker panels comes off when it rolls, revealing red paint underneath. The car that Luke pulls the bad guys from has body colored door jambs, so either the props guys did a really thorough job respraying the car or there were two different cars used. Did anyone notice how Jeb Stuart Duke fell off his bike when he arrived at the crashed car? The car that Daisy drives in 'State of the County' is a 1975 Mercury Montego - a sister car to the Gran Torino. Although I'm sure that many cars were reused, I doubt that it would have been worth their time reusing a cheap rolled car.

    NASCAR news

We've had a couple of weeks without races in F1, but they're back this week with the Belgian Grand Prix - one of my favorite circuits. Most of the headlines have been about how Red Bull sacked their team boss, Christian Horner, a couple of days after the British Grand Prix. He's held the job for 20 years. Various reasons have been given, but apparently it didn't come as a big surprise to many in the team. BTW. He's married to Geri from the Spice Girls. Under the new team boss, Max Verstappen split the McLarens to qualify in second of today's sprint race. He passed Oscar Piastri on the first lap and went on to win the race. Oscar finished second ahead of Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc. There were also good results for Esteban Ocon (Haas), Carlos Sainz Jnr (Williams), Oliver Bearman (Haas) and Isack Hadjar (RB) who all scored points (only the top eight score in sprint races). You can see the sprint race highlights here. For tomorrow's race, Lando took pole ahead of team mate Oscar, with Charles in third and Max down in fourth. Red Bull finally got both of their cars and both of feeder team RB's cars into the top 10. Lewis Hamilton had a terrible time qualifying in his Ferrari. In the sprint race qualifying he was eliminated in the first session after going off the track at the final corner, and in the main race qualifying he exceeded track limits on his fast lap and had his time deleted, also eliminating him in the first session. You can see the qualifying highlights here. We could have another wet race tomorrow (the Spa track is famous for having its own micro-climate), so anything could happen!
  4. Well spotted, Webb. You seem to have a slightly wider frame than I do as my copy only extends to the lamp. Jimmie was probably meant to stop a foot or two further back when then set up the shot. There are a few other scenes in this episode that were obviously filmed in a studio. I can see a corner in the scenery in one shot, but no edges like you spotted. I noticed something else in the Boar's Nest scene. When Bo sneaks into the back of Rosco's patrol car, the driver's seat is all the way back, so there's hardly room for Bo to get his legs in. We can see the seat in this position as Rosco drives off, but we can't see Bo. When we do see Bo, he's got his whole body between the front and rear seats, so the driver's seat must be about six inches forward. I'm sure Rosco would notice that much movement - I know I would!
  5. How about Les Seymour from 'Dukescam Scam'? We never see him, but the Dukes nearly hit him. As Waylon says: "That's Les Seymour's truck. And old Les can't even drive nails."

    One Word Song Titles

I've just heard that Ozzy Osbourne has died at 76. His death comes just weeks after he reunited Black Sabbath for a farewell concert with a raft of special guests. We've had 'Paranoid' before on this thread, so here's a solo hit: Ozzy Osbourne - Dreamer
  12. The Baxley Sisters in 'Coy vs. Vance' were also named after the Baxley family who worked on the show. BTW. Another widow gets mentioned in 'Gold Fever'. To get Jesse to open his mouth, Luke says, "This puts me in mind of the time when old Jess was laid up and Widow Campbell stopped by in the middle of the night...". Jesse interrupts him and I don't think we ever find out any more about Widow Campbell's visit!

    Hey guys

Welcome to HNet, Knelb4zod. Roger did mention Loretta Lynn, but as he points out, she wasn't caught in the speed trap.
  16. Cletus claimed he'd been taking KARATE lessons in 'Lawman of the Year'.

    Kenny Rogers

I'd have to add 'Coward of the County' and 'The Gambler' to your choice, Roger. Now, should I walk away or should I run - I never seem to know!
  18. I wasn't expecting the reunion to be on a British morning magazine show. BTW. I converted your link to an embedded video - I think more people are likely to watch it that way. Here's David Soul on 'Top Gear':

The show that Rick left for was "Amanda's". He played the chef, Earl Nash, at Amanda's by the Sea - a hotel run by Bea Arthur's character Amanda. The show was based on the iconic British sitcom "Fawlty Towers", but was cancelled after 13 episodes. The show also starred Fred McCarren, who was Neil Bishop in "The Big Heist". "Fawlty Towers" famously (at least on this side of The Pond) only ran for two seasons of six episodes each (six episodes is the standard season length for British sitcoms), and they were four years apart due to the stars/writers getting divorced in-between. Here's the first episode of "Amanda's". I assume by the picture quality that it hasn't been released on DVD or repeated lately. Rick appears at just over eight minutes in.

    Kenny Rogers

Kenny's version isn't the original, although it is the version I like best. Ol' Red was written by James "Bo" Bohon, Don Goodman, and Mark Sherrill, and first recorded by George Jones in 1990. Kenny's version came out in 1993 and Blake's version in 2001.
  23. You obviously haven't read any of Hobie's previous posts.
