  2. I was watching a Beverly Hillbillies episode earlier this year and the whole time the credits ran at the end there was a carton of Winstons in the corner for an advertisement. It was one of the old black and white BHs. Since it has been illegal to advertise cigarettes for 50 years or so I wondered if that was legal. I do wonder if they will make it legal to even show a cigarette on TV someday.
  3. Welcome, Waylon Jennings......season 7 Waylon Jennings comes into Hazzard County driving a full sized semi that contains his mobile Country and Western museum with things more valuable to a redneck than the contents of King Tut's tomb. Two guys named Buddy and Jeb wave him down for an autograph but steal the museum and get away just before Bo and Luke arrive to untie Waylon. Buddy and Jeb were hired by Boss and they get away after the boys try to catch them. The boys go back to Waylon and before he can explain things, an exact replica of the museum comes around the corner. But, it's not a replica. It is the real museum and is driven by Betty Jo Page, hired by the insurance company to protect it. It was then explained that the first truck was a decoy just because it was possible something like this could happen. When Buddy and Jeb pull into the barn where Boss and Rosco are they are shocked that the truck was empty. Boss was planning on getting $100,000 from the insurance company for the return of the truck. Since he liked country music he would have felt guilty to ask for more, prompting Rosco to say "That probably is one of the most generous selfish things you have ever done." The truck went to town where Enos was assigned to guard it all night. Betty Jo started to suspect the Duke boys, especially after finding out they were on probation. At night, Buddy and Jeb knocked Enos out with chloroform and took the museum. In the morning Betty Jo put a bug on the General so she could follow it. Later, the boys found the decoy truck and Betty Jo found them so she definitely thought they were guilty. The boys then found the real museum but got caught and tied up by Buddy and Jeb. They got away when Rosco and Enos came to arrest them. Daisy found out that a ransom note for $100,00 was sent to Betty Jo. Her company wired the money to Boss and she went with him and Rosco to Eagle Rock Meadow to make the exchange. Bo, Luke and Waylon got there too but the bad guys got away with the money and the truck (museum not attached). Luke shot a dynamite arrow in front of them and a fistfight followed. 'Ole Waylon even got in on it. Buddy and Jeb got arrested and Waylon sang "Never Could Walk the Line" at the Boar's Nest. --Waylon even got to experience a jump in the General Lee. Moments later he got another one....over a raised drawbridge. -- The stuff in the museum was pretty cool, Hank Jr's steel guitar, Willie Nelson's cut off pig tail, Buddy Holly's motorcycle and, the latest addition, a picture of the Dukes with Waylon. --- What a great scene and story!....At the Duke farm, Waylon and Betty Jo sat down with the 4 Dukes for a meal. Waylon told the story of how his guitar was stolen just before his first professional gig. A stranger came along and helped him get another. That stranger was a feller named Jesse Duke --Does anybody know if the museum was footage of a real museum?
  4. We're the same way. We're making restrictions but not as severe as the last time. For example, in order to enter Pennsylvania (starting Friday) you have to have had a negative covid-19 test. This is a bit like the mask requirement. It is only intended to be for politicians and officials to feel good because it is not legally enforcible in 99% of the cases. That may change when Joe Biden takes office in 2 months. Erie County had 134 cases today....a little better than yesterday.
  5. Sorry if I didn't word it well but yes, the routine test was fine....no cancer. Here in the US the health department recommends a test at 50 and 60 years old.
  6. That is awesome! Three cheers for MeTV. When I first saw the post I thought it said MTV. That's the music channel that doesn't have any music. I guess it's a sign of the times. CMT doesn't much music either even though their M stands for it too. The educational channels don't have any educational shows and the news doesn't have news anymore (only opinions).
  7. The covid numbers are going absolutely crazy here. Almost every day is a new record and many of the daily records aren't just getting beat, they're getting shattered. We were averaging about 20 a day but the past several days we've been averaging over 100. Yesterday we had 176. My wife works at a hospital and she said they're pretty full. There hasn't been any runs on the stores here....,yet. Your wife likely saw a meteor from something called the Leonid meteor shower, so named because the meteors originate in the part of the sky where the constellation Leo lies. Early this morning was their predicted peak. Does she drive east when she goes to work? If it wasn't in the east then it was unrelated to the Leonids. I had a rough morning. I had a routine test for colon cancer. Everything looked clear thankfully. I just ate a sandwich now. It's the first thing I've had since Monday Night Football.
  8. Morocco Bound The Dukes were planning on taking a ferry from Gibraltar to north Africa to go to a race in Cairo but Boss tricked them about the departure time so they were late. Daisy jumped the General onto the moving ferry though. At a hotel, Rosco got his bag mixed up with another guy and before you know it, Rosco was making wishes to the genie that squeezed out of the bottle he found in the bag. He told Boss what happened so Boss wished for a billion dollars in gold. The gold was crushing Boss so Rosco wished it would disappear. Daisy then got the lamp without knowing what it was and the Dukes and Boss started racing across the desert. They were all caught by a gang of middle-eastern guys and tied up. It was Flash to the rescue, getting the lamp and wishing them free. Daisy got the lamp again and granted the genie his freedom. A magic carpet ride then brought the Hazzard folks back to their two vehicles and it was off to Cairo.
  9. The Dukes of Venice The Dukes stopped to snap some pictures of the Roman Coliseum on their way to Venice and the General Lee got stolen. The thieves then robbed a bank in order to finance an even bigger job they had planned in Venice. Boss stopped at the bank later and told the Italian police it was the Duke boys even though he knew better. The thieves used their money to buy an exact replica of the priceless Marco Polo's Teapot. They stole the real Teapot and put the fake in its place but a museum employee discovered the phoney right away. The thieves got away with the real Teapot but eventually got caught by police boats and a floating General Lee that the Dukes got back. The police arrested the thieves and even arrested Boss and Rosco until they got everything sorted out.
  10. Jungle Jitters Coy, Vance and Daisy were low on gas in the middle of the South American jungle and when they stopped to get the gas can out of the trunk it was gone and they realized Boss stole it. They were forced to take a short cut near a volcano that was starting to come to life but they got held hostage by natives. Boss and Rosco later got caught as well and all were thrown in the same secured area. After they all broke loose, Rosco and Boss stole a giant diamond off one of the natives big idols and the pair got captured again. They were going to be sacrificed to the volcano but the Dukes saved them. They all hopped in Boss's car and drove to the top of the volcano just in time to stop the General Lee from being sacrificed. The General jumped over the mouth of the volcano and so did Rosco in the Cadillac with Boss and Flash. They all got away safely.
  11. These cartoon episodes all start and end the same way. Uncle Jesse is back at the farm with his pet, Smokey the racoon. Jesse is reading letters sent by the Dukes. The letters let him know how their trip is going as they race Boss, Rosco and Flash around the world. Unless Jesse says something vital to the plot, I will not mention in every review that he was on at the beginning and end. The cartoons start out with Coy, Vance and Daisy but later Coy and Vance are replaced with Bo and Luke. These reviews will be much shorter than the regular episode reviews. The first episode is titled "Put up Your Dukes" Coy, Vance and Daisy are driving the General Lee through Australia. Boss, Rosco and Flash are driving Boss's Cadillac there also. The Dukes meet their cousin Willie who has a prized kangaroo named Benny who is a champion boxer, defeating any human he faces. Boss knows that Benny is valuable so he hires two bad guys to steal him but the two double cross Boss and take his Cadillac along with Benny. In a scene from "Find Loretta Lynn" Benny drops posters of himself along the road to leave a trail. Daisy, Coy, Vance, Boss, Rosco, Willie and Flash all squeeze in the General and follow the posters to a mine where the thieves are hiding. Inside the mine, Flash sniffed Benny out and he got rescued.
  12. Happy Birthday General Lee......season 7 After getting chased by Rosco and Boss and then getting away, Bo and Luke return to the farm to find Daisy, Jesse and Cooter celebrating the eighth birthday of the General Lee, complete with a birthday cake. Luke recalls that he was just out of the Marines and Bo was just out of high school and the episode fades to 8 years earlier. Bo and Luke were in an old brown Ford pick-up truck and got pulled over by Boss and Rosco. Rosco had a moustache and Boss was thinner with more hair on the top. Rosco impounded the truck and the boys were picked up by Jesse and Daisy in the white Ford truck. They went back to the farm and admired the souped up engine the boys built. Bo and Luke had their eyes on a $10,000 prize at the "Hazzard Road Race Championship" but had no car for their engine. Meanwhile, robbers Ginny and Rick had just stolen $50,000 in gold dust at Capitol City and made a getaway in a black 1969 Dodge Charger but crashed and were caught by Capitol City Sheriff Snead. Before they were caught they hid the bags of gold behind the instrument panel. The 4 Dukes went to Boss's house and asked for a loan but to get a lower rate Daisy had to agree to work at the Boar's Nest. Bo and Luke borrowed Cooter's truck and picked up the 10 year old Charger at a Capitol City junkyard and took it to Cooter's Garage. The robbers broke out of jail and went to Hazzard to find their car and gold dust, while Boss and Rosco were spying at Cooter's because they were concerned the new race car could beat Boss's #13 car. Ginny and Rick confronted Bo and Luke on the street but the boys got away after being shot at. The next morning the General Lee breathed life for the first time and then got painted orange because that was the only color Cooter had enough of. The 01 got painted on the sides and Bo said "We started out with nothing and it's #1 here all the way." After the flag was painted and horn installed, Jesse named the car. Later, Ginny and Rick saw the boys and started chasing them but then history was made when the General jumped it's first creek. The boys got to the race just in time. Rosco said he'd shave his moustache and Boss said he's eat his hat if the General beat Boss. While sitting in Boss's car, Rosco was the announcer in the 5 car race but Ginny and Rick joined in until Luke shot their tire out with an arrow. The other cars crashed and then some of the gold dust fell out from behind the General's instrument panel. The General trailed by a lot but caught up and jumped over Boss and Rosco to win the $10,000. Boss ate his hat and Rosco shaved. Ginny and Rick got caught and the gold dust got returned. Fade ahead 8 years and Boss and Rosco show up to interrupt the birthday party and the boys jump in the General and the chase is on! -- Ginny was played by country music star Janie Fricke. -- The guy who sold the black Charger incorrectly called it a 1968. -- The General's first jump in this episode is the record breaker that is featured in the opening song. -- What a great episode....a favorite of many Dukes fans. The most famous car in the world is still the most famous.....and likely always will be.
  13. Does any of that stuff ever come up for sale?
  14. I'm having so much fun with the episode reviews I decided to do all 20 cartoon episodes as well. I'll post the first two later today. It's a bit sad that the tradition of Saturday morning cartoons is gone but it sure was a fun era while it lasted.
  15. We just got our first measurable snow of the season. Lake Erie has a dramatic effect on weather patterns and snow. Some places got next to nothing and some got 5 inches. We only got an inch or two. I sure love Christmas so this puts me in the mood. It won't last. 60 degrees in the forecast in a couple days.
  16. I sure wish I could help but I can't. It's not even ringing a distant bell. Am I correct in assuming all the other stuff was on the show? So cool!
  17. Cooter's Confession......season 6 Cooter's old friend Jonas Jones is driving a delivery truck through Hazzard County with a load of auto parts that Boss paid for in advance. He stops to help a woman who is faking having a broken down car and is blindsided by her accomplice and they steal the truck. Their names are Bart and Ruth and they are working for John Harris, the owner of Capitol City Distributing Company. Enos pursues Bart in the truck (only to warn him about the trucknappers....he didn't know it was recently stolen) and was joined by the General Lee but it got away, along with Ruth driving the car. Jonas hitched a ride to Cooter's and told him what happened. He also told him that he would be the number one suspect since he was a convicted felon. Cooter found out Rosco was going to arrest Jonas and figured he owed him a big favor since Jonas saved his life in a fire in Oklahoma ten years ago. He gave Jonas some cash and told him to take off for Florida so he did. Cooter then decided to take the blame and protect Jonas by confessing to the crime so Rosco locked him up. Before Jonas could leave town, the Duke boys caught him and explained what Cooter did and took him to their farm, where he met with all 4 Dukes. Later at night, Bo and Luke broke into the distributing company and found the parts that were stolen from Boss. They knew the crooks wouldn't strike again because that would prove Cooter's innocence so the boys broke a reluctant Cooter out of jail so they would strike again and get caught. They rented a truck and Luke went to Harris, who gave him a hauling job, with Luke knowing he would be robbed. Sure enough, Luke came across Ruth, pretending to be broke down. He overpowered Bart but Ruth knocked him out and Bo and Cooter were late to the scene since they had to get away from Rosco and Enos. Bo, Luke and Cooter ended up catching the pair and, back at the Capitol City warehouse, Daisy and Jesse (armed with his jogging outfit and shotgun) caught John Harris. -- Where does Waylon come up with them?...... "Well, don't that fill grandma's drawers with nightcrawlers?!" LOL -- Jesse, "A stranger's just a friend we've never met.".......Waylon, "Ya know, somebody ought to write a country song about that, but I can't think of a word that rhymes with Hazzard." -- Tomorrow I'll move on to season 7.
  18. Yes, those emerald ash borers have destroyed all the ash trees. I have been cutting up as many as I can because if I don't they will be no good in a couple years for woodstove firewood. They will still be good for outdoor campfire firewood for a few years even though they are already starting to rot. I have also had my neighbor and brother-in-law take as many dead ash trees as they can. I hate to see anything go to waste. Most of my property is soft maple and from everything I'm hearing the bug cannot survive on any other kind of tree. If it ever attacks soft maples my 22 acres will turn to a parking lot.
  19. I'm sure you had those 50mph winds we did Spike. As big part of the eastern US did so that means Skipper did too. A dead ash tree fell by our mailbox and blocked the road. My chain saw is in the shop but I managed to use s bow saw and cut enough of it back to let traffic through......not that we get many vehicles on our back road. The township should finish it tomorrow. I was happy to see my Pittsburgh Steelers stay undefeated today. It is the best start in their history and they've had some pretty good teams. I'm old enough to have been a fan since before they won their first Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs are still the team to beat.....if covid doesn't shut everything down.
  20. The Fortune Tellers......season 6 While Bo is away on the NASCAR circuit, a fortune teller named Madam Delilah and her short assistant, Three Pack pull into Hazzard County and the first two people they meet are Luke and Daisy. Meanwhile, Boss is worried because Lulu is planning on cashing in $100,000 worth of bonds that have matured. Her Uncle Jasper gave them to her 20 years ago. She doesn't know it but Boss cashed them in years ago and replaced them in her wall safe with counterfeits. Delilah and Three Pack showed up at the Boar's Nest but Rosco kicked them out after she read Lulu's fortune. Boss planned to fake a robbery and grab the fake bonds but quickly saw that Lulu had changed the combination. Later, while Daisy was alone in the Boar's Nest counting the cash, Delilah called to distract her while Three Pack snuck in through a vent and scooped the money up and got away without being noticed. When she called Rosco to report the theft, he thought she was the guilty party but with Luke's help got away. They eventually figured out who stole the money and how, when they found a thread of Three Pack's clothing on the vent. Boss and Rosco then met with Delilah and Three Pack and Boss convinced her to trick Lulu out of the safe combination. She succeeded and then led Lulu out of the house and into the van while Three Pack grabbed the bonds with the intent to double cross Boss and keep them. Of course, they didn't know they were fakes. They got away in the van. Boss was happy because he wanted the counterfeits gone anyways but he knew Luke and Daisy were after the van so he went with Rosco to stop them. They chased them but got stuck and then the General blocked the van and it flipped over, caught on fire and blew up after the two got out. Boss was happy because the fake bonds burned up and Daisy was happy because her reputation was cleared. Bo then called the pay phone at the Boar's Nest and talked to his cousins and uncle. -- Rosco attempts a hood slide. It didn't go well. It was funny though! -- Hmmm, I wonder why Rosco didn't get anything from Uncle Jasper. Maybe he did but Boss swindled it out of him long ago. -- Only one episode left in season 6. Cooter's Confession is next.
  21. Mr. Low Tech here doesn't really understand how all that stuff works but I agree that HazzardNet needs as much exposure to other Dukes fans as it can get.
  22. The Ransom of Hazzard County.....season 6 Enos's patrol car broke down so he got a ride in the General Lee with the boys and Daisy. Bo drove through a phony school crossing and Boss and Rosco pulled them over but to their surprise Enos popped his head out of the back window and since he was a witness Rosco couldn't ticket Bo. Boss wanted to fire Enos but he knew the townsfolk would revolt so, in a ceremony at the Boar's Nest, he "promoted" him to Commissioner of Records and stuck him in the courthouse basement where it is dusty and full of cobwebs. The ceremony was also the introduction of Boss's new deputy, Billy Joe Coogan, who got to work right away and arrested Bo and Luke after a car chase. What Boss didn't know was that Billy Joe had an accomplice named Eddie and the two were planning a scam. Jesse provided the bail money and while the Dukes were breaking the General out of the impound yard, Rosco and Boss discovered a note from The Doomsday Gang (Coogan and Eddie). They were demanding $150,000 in county fund money or they'd blow up the town. To show they were serious, Eddie called Boss and told him to look out the window and then blew up Rosco's sheriff's car. While the car was still smoking Rosco told the Dukes about the gang and their demands. The Dukes made a connection between Coogan and Eddie just as the two bad guys were planning on releasing the water in Hazzard Dam to get the money. (They didn't think they could get enough dynamite to blow it up). The Dukes then found out Coogan was a known criminal and also figured out the plan to release the water and flood the valley. Luke went to the dam but got knocked out by Eddie. Enos found out Coogan was a member of the gang but Coogan ended up locking him, Boss and Rosco in jail and taking the county money and driving away. He told Eddie to turn the valves and start the flood, which he did. Bo, Daisy and Jesse then caught Coogan and went to the dam to help Luke stop Eddie. They turned the valves off before too much water was let go. Coogan and Eddie got thrown in jail. Jesse made sure the money got returned to the county. Enos got his job back. -- Coogan reminded me a lot of Cletus. He could pass for his brother. Or maybe it was just the uniform. -- When the boys discover a map of Hazzard Dam in Coogan's sheriff's car they figured out what was going on. It was raining in that scene. This might be the only scene in 7 years where it rained. Does anybody know if that is correct?
  23. Now, that's an amazing coincidence Hoss!
  24. How have you been airdream? It's good to hear from you again. That blue house looks like Boss's......even though it was white on the show.
