I need some help from people that aren't my real life friends. I don't know whether or not to join my school marching band. I'd be the only bass clarinet player. The band really needs one because apparently they're the only one that doesn't have one. All my friends that are in it are saying that I should. I can't decide though. Any thoughts?

I've been searching for a classic bicycle for a while now,and whilst cycling home last night I saw one in a dumpster. I went up to the house and offered them €5 for it,and went off to take it out and bring it home. Today I got my first proper look at it... All i can say is this beautiful pre 1970's ladies racer had been ruined by presumably a drunk ape with a can of white spraypaint. They didn't bother to tape off any areas, they just sprayed any available spot. My first thoughts were that this was going to be a ghostbike (a bike that's sprayed white and left in a spot where cyclists have been killed, but after a few phone calls it turns out that the organization that org…

As y'all know, I'm not from the US, but I'm aware that a lot of you are. Since I've been on HNet I've made a conscious effort to try to spell words the American way (when I remember there's a difference) - I just thought it would make things easier. George Bernard Shaw said "England and America are two countries separated by a common language.". We have trousers and pavements, y'all have pants and sidewalks (although trousers are called pants here in Ireland), but sometimes we even spell common words differently. I found the following spelling test on quiz site Sporcle earlier. It gives the US spelling of 44 words and you have to enter the British spelling. It was probabl…

I was planning on going to an American car show today (this one where I sat in a General Lee last year), but various factors conspired against it. Luckily there was another car related event much closer to home: Cannonball Ireland 2011 came to town. Unlike the namesake movies from the '80s, this was not a race, but just a charity fund-raising cruise of some very expensive cars including Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins amongst others: There were a few American cars there too: They all parked up in the grounds of the castle. There must have been several million dollars' worth of cars on show.

Today at 1:51 pm Est, a 5.8 earthquake rattled the Eastern US. States as far away as Ohio felt the tremors. No deaths were reported, but there were some injuries and damage. I live in Knox County, Ohio and I was taking a nap in my room, which is upstairs (I live in a 2 story house) at the time. I felt my bed shaking and woke up and looked around, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but I noticed my birds were making more noise than usual. My cockatiels and parakeets are usually quiet when I'm sleeping, but even they were making noise. When I went downstairs, (about 2 hours later...yes, I stayed in my room that long xD after I woke up) my mom told me there'd been…

I had a little accident at work today. A heavy piece of metal fell on my head and cut it open and knocked me out. I came back to the real world before the ambulance arrived but then fell unconscience again. I woke up again and got loaded in the ambulance and barely remained awake but was confused on the way to the hospital. Luckily the cat scan showed no serious damage and I was released under the watch of my wife. I feel fine but she's going to have to keep an eye on me for a couple days. I have a severe concussion and 7 metal staples but things look good. Here's the amazing part. I've always heard stories like this but never thought I'd experience one. For a while I sa…

I'm going through my old VHS tapes and putting some up on ebay for cheap. There are a few movies, but mostly DOH episodes (the Columbia House collection). All the DOH tapes have been opened and viewed once and are in pretty good shape. If any of you are interested, you can check 'em out here: http://shop.ebay.com/meadowmufn/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25

Howdy Folks, Since this is the off topic thread I thought this would fit right in here nicely, for whom it may concern. Disney has released information concerning a Lone Ranger Movie that will be in production for release in Dec 2012! All though I highly disagree with there choice of cast for it I hope that this will grant an opportunity for the children of today (adults too) to meet a Legend of yesterday. The Lone Ranger, most famously played by Clayton Moore was one of my greatest hero's while I was growing up. A character who stood for law and order, who fought for the just. So in honor of the one and only, in memory of the man who not only potrayed as a man of law a…

Well, two months ago, I bought a three month old puppy that after a few days of great thought and effort, I named Rosco. (Bet you can't guess who I named him after? )He is half doodle and half corgi, ****zu, and Bichon. He is very energetic and ornery...and cute. He is now five months old. He has joined my household with my other dog that is now almost six and a half years old and is named Lilly (I bought her when she was six months old and she had already came named as Lilly). She is half corgi, a third bichon, and a third s-h-i-tzu. She is very loving and caring, protective of me. And poor ol' Lilly seems to be the victim of Rosco's orneriness...I am hoping one day t…

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those affected by tornadoes in the south. Many have homes, properties, and even, sadly, many have lost relatives. Hopefully, things get better for them soon.

I was watching TV 24 (ABC) local news tonight out of Erie Pennsylvania and saw a terribly tragic story. There was a fire near Erie PA and two men were unable to escape and were killed. Of course I wouldn't be reporting this tragedy here if there wasn't a Dukes connection. The camera was filming scenes of the remains of the home and one of the clips showed a room that had several shelves with toy and model cars. Some of the cars were melted and damaged but a few weren't. The car in the middle of the group was a General Lee. My heart goes out to the families of the victims.

I need to have someone help me put a good moonshine avatar picture on my profile and by the way, is my last name supposed to be Hawkins or Harkins? Remember now, I'm buzzing, plus I am almost completely computer illiterate. Thank you ahead of time.
