Waylon Jennings/The Balladeer

For fans of Waylon Jennings

  1. Started by Capt_Redneck,

It has been 10 years since we lost a true outlaw legend. I hope he will never be forgotten. Everyone who sees this thread, try to listen to a song from the original outlaw today and remember the great music he brought us. Good Ol' Boys - Waylon Jennings I'm gone Darrell

  2. Started by RogerDuke,

A co-worker of my wife's had a baby boy a few days ago. They didn't do the test to see if it was going to be a boy or girl. They had an agreement that the father would name a boy and she would name it if it was a girl. It was a boy. He is a Waylon fan and loves the name so there is now a new Waylon in this 'ol world. I talked to the father a couple weeks ago (before Waylon was born) and told him I was hoping for a Waylon. Stuff like this makes this 'ol Duke fan smile!

I know that this is out there in another section, but I thought we could also do it here, under his name. Brotherly Love "Now you can't see the wheels spinning in Enos's head 'cause they're so tiny. But they're really humming. A Baby for the Dukes " Now, about this time Boss Hogg was having a county budget meeting with Rosco and Enos, who couldn't count a dozen eggs without taking off thier shoes.

Happy Birthday on June 15 to that good 'ol boy Waylon I'll meet you at the Boar's Nest for a buttermilk buddy

  5. Started by Laura Duke,

Hello Everyone! I've been re-watching the first and second season of The Dukes of Hazzard. And, I've been noticing something-the opening teasers that start the show (you know, when they say, "Tonight on the Dukes...........) and then they play the "Good ol' Boy" song. Well, on that teaser, I don't think that is Waylon Jenning's voice. But, other Hazzard people tell me it is. What do all of you think? Thanks! Laura Duke

Yes, I'm aware that it's a day late. But, better late than never. Figured since there wasn't a thread like this, I'd make one for him. You can come here and pay your respects to the greatest balladeer we all know and love, Waylon. edit: Just saw the tribute thread and now i feel stupid guys lol. Oh well serves me right i suppose.

I just read in the Dukes of Hazzard TV soundtrack, that Waylon was the narrator in Moonrunners. I wish that I could get my hands on that movie. Unfortunatly due to the fact that I don't have any credit cards I don't think that I can get it off ebay or other online websites. Anyway if it wasn't for Waylon, we wouldn't be here talking about The Dukes because there wouldn't have been any Dukes.

  11. You know how everyone is so easily offended by things these days? Waylon Jennings made a joke about it a long time back before it got this way. In live versions of Mommas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys he reversed the lyric to "Mommas Don't Let Your Cowboys Grow Up To Be Babies" lol. Very accurate to how things are these days. Bout that joking lyric reversal: What did WJ know that we didn't? Seems like he knew at that time how things would end up.

Waylon Jennings in his last major interview conducted by CMT(Country Music Television) shortly before his death on February 13, 2002. "If you got an idea, try it you know. That's what we're all about anyway. An' music, if you start puttin' limits on music, that's it. You might as well take it to the house."

  13. Y'all I am friends on Facebook with the amazing talented Waylon Jennings Tribute Artist Hokey Sloan. His Waylon act is friggin' awesome! Talented man! Y'all should check out his shows! He also partners up with a Willie Nelson Tribute Artist act sometimes for the classic Waylon & Willie duets.

Hey Folks, I'm in the proccess of building a waylon jennings replica guitar. Waylons Guitar was a typical country "Fender Telecaster" he used many different models, but the original guitar was from the earlier 60's...for everyone that surely has seen the opening of the dukes theme on tv, shows waylon playing his leather covered telecaster. Let me take you on a Trip back in time about 12 years before dukes was even heard of... at this time, waylons guitar didnt look like we all know it now, it was a white colored guitar that was used in the filming of the movie "Nashville Rebel" this was when waylon had only released 2 or 3 records of his musical career. Below is a pictur…

  18. Started by RogerDuke,

There's a new television commercial out there. It's for Volkswagen and it features Waylon singing "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys". I saw it twice this weekend and was thrilled to hear Waylon's voice. Has anybody else seen it yet?

  19. in US History class, we are learning about the 50's and just finished watching a movie on Buddy Holley. our teacher told us about how Waylon almost got on the plane with those guys. he flipped a coin and he lost. you probably knew that already but what i got to thinkin bout was, what if he would of got on? what would the dukes of been like? but then i realized that if he would of gotten on, there wouldn't of been too much weight in the plane and it might not of crashed because the bigger guy is who he flipped a coin with. atleast thats what our teacher told us was that the big guy weighed too much and caused the plane to crash. i'm not sure how credible that is though cau…
