  1. Sorry for the extended downtime. Due to price increases in some of the software I was using on the server, I had to migrate to a different server/software combo. Still working some kinks out, but I think the site should pretty much be up and running again. I took the opportunity to also update the forum software to the latest and greatest.

  2. Merry Christmas, everyone! We're expecting snow this weekend. Might not arrive in time for a white Christmas, but it might get here Christmas night/Sunday morning! We have a new pup this year (Troy passed last November). We got her from a rescue in Texas last June and she just turned about 1 year old last month. We're really looking forward to her first Christmas and to see how she reacts to the snow. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a prosperous and happy new year.

  3. Thanks. I miss you guys too. I've been super busy, but I'm currently on leave for the rest of the year due to work stress. I think you can count on two fingers how many years in the past decade or so I haven't had a surgery or a medical procedure of some type. Fortunately, aside from stress and fatigue, I'm doing pretty well right now and I'm looking forward to Christmas and my birthday. All the presents have been bought and wrapped. The house is decorated, the tree is up. The nog is chilling in the fridge (and we have a little rum in the pantry to mix in... ). I'm ready!

  4. Glad to hear you're recovering @HossC. Gallbladder issues run in my family. My paternal grandmother, dad, and sister have all had theirs out and doctors are monitoring my nephew's, which will probably have to be removed eventually. I've had my own scares and testing for the same, but so far no surgery. I've had five other surgeries in the last 13 years though, so I completely understand that soreness and problems with coughing. Take care of yourself.

Yeah the housing market is crazy here. One realtor they interviewed said he's never seen anything like it in all his years. Said he schedules open houses then has to cancel them because the owners get a cash bid right away. Some of the local home inspectors are actually hurting for money because they're not doing inspections like they normally would be scheduled to do.

It's crazy around here and where my sister's family is retiring in Idaho. They got in at the right time. The week after they bought their new home, prices went up $15,000 and a month later, they were $50,000 more!! We were going to move too, but that'll be too rich for our blood by the time we're ready. But the good news is that our house is worth almost 2x what we paid for it 17 years ago.

  6. Just me and hubby by ourselves this year. We can't go over to my sister's this year like we usually do. Our dog passed away last month, so it's been hard. We haven't been able to find another dog. Competition for rescue dogs is very fierce around here and every dog we've applied for is pretty much gone before they even get to our application. We're not really in the Christmas mood this year.

    Looks like you found them.

I'm not a huge fan of change, but I really like the more prominent use of the mid-blue in various places. I also see we're back to circular avatars, but I don't even mind them this time around. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date, MM.

I'm not a huge fan of change either and, believe me, I just about had a mini-coronary when I realized I'd have to do the theme from scratch. But, I think it turned out better (and easier) than last time. I like the mid-blue too. I wanted to break it up a little more than just orange and dark blue.

I think we could do with some sort of box around each post if that's possible. At the moment it's difficult to see where one post finishes and the next begins.

The only other thing I've noticed so far is that the HNet banner only seems to go about 3/4 of the way across the screen.

Everything else looks good. Thanks, MM.

Yeah, those are the 2 things I haven't been able to figure out yet, but I'm working on it.

  9. Just to follow up... I got the final pathology report from my procedure. It says "no neoplasm identified". I'm pretty sure that means I'm still cancer free. Yay! I have a follow up with my doc on the 23rd to go over everything. I have an echocardiogram coming up on Monday and I think after that, hopefully, that should be the last of the medical tests/procedures for the rest of the year.

My brother has had medical issues throughout his life, and had half been expecting to be told to stay at home and isolate. He never was, and has been working in a food store serving the public since lockdown started. Some of his colleagues are only just starting to return to work now.

I hope all goes well for you next month, MM.

Thanks. My oncologist is cautiously optimistic that I'm still cancer free.

Now we found out our niece has it too. We suspect a lot of family members did but they have all recovered from their cold-like symptoms so it looks like things are improving. My wife goes back to work tomorrow and I'm officially off quarantine tomorrow too but I'm still avoiding anybody else for another week just to be safe. Besides, I'm retired now and don't have to go anywhere. While things are improving for my family I feel the pain of other families that are just getting started. Keep us updated MM on your test.

I probably won't be tested until mid-August (my procedure's on the 20th). I'll let you know how it goes, though.
