  1. Hmmm. . .that is a hard question. At least for me. Then again, it shouldn't be too surprising to me since the only 'new' or current show that I watch regularly is Numb3rs and Dog Whisperer and I don't see any connection between Numb3rs and Dukes. Especially not Dog Whisperer. So I guess I can eliminate Numb3rs and Dog Whisperer from the list.
  2. Happy birthday Mini! I hope that your special day was a great day and that the new year that lies ahead for you will be filled with everything good and happy - you deserve it! Have a great birthday, Mini Hogg!

  3. Yeah I saw that. It is neat that you were able to find a line or two that reminds you of your favorite characters on the show. My signature is from Toby Keith's song "Jacky Don Tucker" that says " You play by the rules you miss all the fun" or something like that...I think it reminds me of what my personal character, Garrett's, attitude is.

  4. I am not a Taylor Swift fan at all, but do give her credit to making it how far she has at her age. They play her and Carrie Underwood here all the time and it gets tiring.

Am a huge Alan Jackson fan. Enjoy his music and he puts on a good show. ;) I have most of his albums/CDs at home, I think his first two or three tapes of his I don't have. Very talented and very Country.

Hope you enjoy the CDs. :D

  5. Yikes, that doesn't sound fun at all! I think I'd consider it a bad day if I got any one of those last two mentioned, not alone both of them on the same day! Hope your leg is doing OK and that the ive stuff is going away also! I have sensitive skin so I can imagine how painful and itchy it has to be!

  6. Well. Happy belated birthday. I hope it was a good one. :D

  7. Congratulations Roger on your new addition to your family! I'm sure you are a proud papa! Glad to hear the baby and mom are doing well...you'll have to place your good influence on little Luke by playing him ol' Waylon songs and putting on your Dukes DVDs. You can't start 'em too young, now can we? LOL. Once again, congrats Roger. I am happy for you!
  8. I'm on for a little while if you want to chat. If not, hope all is going well with you.

  9. Don't get me started on how they protrayed Uncle Jesse on the movie. He would roll over in his grave seeing what they did to his character. He was definately not doing a good job at playing the patriarch part by doing things and saying things he would have wooped the boys if they even thought of doing it! Though I didn't think anyone had stuck to character in the movie, which had upset me, it was Jesse's character that had upset me the most in the movie. As I said, Lori, I am glad that you were able to see past the negativity on the movie and beyond everyone else's negative and angry repsonses of the movie. It is great that someone has found something in the movie that they like and are willing to back it up. It is great to see you sticking up for what you feel and all that. I highly respect your opinion, as you should know by now, and what you think. Thank-you for posting here. Well there is my two cents worth...for the little that it is worth. I better shut up before I continue to ramble on and on about this subject. I don't mean no disrespect to the movie or the actors or anyone who likes the movie, all that I have stated is all of my own opinion. One that won't change, but none the less, it is only my opinion.
  10. I am on but only for like ten or fifteen minutes. I am signed into chat right now. ;)

  11. I have a converter box and though I don't get to watch it very often, do like it much better than how it had been before. Before I had only gotten one or two stations that would come in. Now I have a few more than that...including CBS which I am excited about. I generally go to my parents' house Friday nights and over the weekend so I can watch their cable, but now I have the option to stay home Friday nights and can still enjoy my other favorite TV show (besides the Dukes of course ) Numb3rs which I look forward to watching every Friday night. Anyone else watch it here? LOL. Anyways, of when I find the time to watch my TV, I do enjoy it better.
  12. Hey you're on...I have a few minutes if you wanted to chat.

  13. Nice post Lori. It is great that you are focusing on the positive on the movie...which for me was kinda hard to find. Then again, there will never be anyone or anything that could ever come close to being as good as Tom, John, Cathy, Denver, James, and Sorrell was in the Dukes. They are a cast that is very unreplaceable in my opinion, no matter how hard they tried (though in my opinion, they didn't try very hard for the first movie at least - I refused to watch the second movie). In my opinion, it was a bad idea trying to make the movie in the first place, because to me, nothing but the originals will do for the Dukes. They are what made the Dukes great all those years ago and are still the ones that make the show still great today. I will admit, the plot/story line was a classic Duke plot and that I liked about it. At least the plot was Hazzard-like and the car scenes were awesome. Burt Reynolds I thought did a great and respectable job at playing Boss Hogg. That said, all the other characters were way out of character and there was A LOT of stuff that should never have been put in there or associated with the Dukes. It is very sad that they need that stuff to sell to the younger people today or to anyone. Once again, this is all of my opinion and I apologize if it makes anyone upset. It is just how I felt about the movie. I had went to see in the theater only to try to prove myself wrong about the movie and from the first scene of the movie, I could tell that I wasn't wrong at all about how I felt about it. Even if they stuck to character and held all the values that the original show had, I would have a hard time liking it due to it not being the original actors/actress and so forth. But it was way out of character and I found little to no value in the movie. As I said earlier, I did like your post and did like to see someone finding something positive of the movie. I am glad to see someone giving it a try. Thank-you Lori for your post.
  14. I like that song, Lizzy...I like Darius' music. That would be a good song for the Dukes - maybe right at the end of an episode after they put the bad guys away and have dealt with Hogg and Coltrane. Can see them at the farm, taking in all they have and realize what a great life they have. At least that is what I see when thinking of the Dukes and of the song you are talking to you. A couple of songs that I can think of off hand at the moment that reminds me of the Dukes is "Nothing but the Tail Lights" by Clint Black for what seems to be obvious reasons. Everyone up against the Dukes are generally looking at the tail lights of The General. Another song is "I run to you" by Lady Antebellum (their new song). Maybe not in the sense of the what the song is meant for, but how they start out by saying they run from prejudice, and hate, pestimists and so forth.
  15. Oops...missed out again. Sorry. Am now listening to my Lady Antebellem CD. They are a great new group and enjoy their music and their sound...listening to them and am attempting to write! *Crosses fingers* I haven't wrote a thing in what seems to be months due to this large thick wall that my muses seem to find amusing to put up in front of me from time to time. I have the world's worst muses sometimes - they enjoy the game of hide and seek way too much and I find it way too frustrating! Anyway, I shouldn't complain now that they are wanting to cooperate, as so it seems at least. I am just hoping it will last.

    Well take care!

  16. YOu sound like me going from song to song in mind and all that. I generally have one song or another in mind. LOL.

  17. I love Desperado...Clint Black's version? That is the one I know and love. I like most of his stuff though. What's not to like? LOL.

I like Darius Rucker's music. He has a nice voice and his music seems to stick country. I do have his CD and do like it though it's been awhile since I've put it in to listen to.

CDs are expensive these days...but it doesn't seem to stop me as it should. I'd probably be rich if I didn't buy all the CD's that I have bought and now have. Now I've also gotten into Christian music so I listen and buy both groups as well as gone to a few Christian concerts as well. Mercy Me is my favorite and am now listening to News Boys...if you've heard of them.:)

I like the guy with the deep voice of the Oak Ridge Boys as well. Amazing to think that he wrote the song about kids (can't think of the title of the song). It's a great song that is generally played during Christmas. That is great that Joe sent you a message! I bet that did make your day!

  18. Wow I feel important to see how many messages I've missed since the last time I was online- which seems to be forever ago.;) Thanks for the messages.

Sorry...New Kids are rock or something like that. They started years ago (over twenty I think) as the first big boy band to come out. Now fifteen years later they are back! No longer kids, but good none the less for that genre of music. They are the only ones of that genre that I have seen or follow. Their crowd is more shovey/pushy and more loud/obnoxious than Country...guess I shouldn't say that aloud. Afterall, what does that say about me? I don't think I am one of those and I am sure not all are that way, but there was a lot of that at the concerts.

  19. Yeah, I agree with you, Redneck Girl, about tickets being too expensive. I hope you will get your share in the future. Never say never! ;)

Talking about concerts...I went to three of them I bet you would never guess that I went to. (Reading this, please keep in mind that Garrett's author (me) is a girl ;) ) I have gone to three New Kids on the Block concerts. All three have been within a year of each other (Two back in last October and another in April of this year). They are definately not country, but they were fun. It was interesing to see the difference between concerts of different genres and how different the crowd is.

  20. Redneck girl - LOL sorry we keep missing each other. :) I never thought of who is my favorite Oak Ridge Boy would be...probably Joe since his is the only name I know. ;) They are all great. I love the low voice in thier songs. And I love that Clint Black song! Seems like a song that would go well with the Dukes! :D I love his music though so I guess I am kinda biased.

As for the hat, it was a Billy Ray Cyrus baseball cap that I had bought at a record store or some place like that. He signed the bill of it. It wasw kinda embarrassing, but it was worth it. :)

  21. Hey Lori - Garrett in Texas? I can't even imagine him going down there...I know he likes Lori and all, but I still can't see him down in Texas.

Maybe if you get a bucket of ice water and throw it at Lori, it'll wake her up. ;)

  22. I agree. Rascal Flatts is NOT Country, but there is so much acts that are like that. I like Dierks Bentley as well and his Sideways song is a fun song. What you think Darius Rucker? I have his Country CD and think he is great. LOL...Kenny Chesney is on the radio as I type this...I don't think I could get tired of his music or Keith Urban's or Toby Keith's. LOL, but I know and understand how you feel. I am that way with other artists.

Anyway, I hope you are having a good day!

  23. Redneck girl 01- Give it time and I bet you'll get to see your share of concerts too. I seen Clint Black a couple of years ago at a fair - he was replacing Willie Nelson who was out with surgery on his wrist or something like that - he played song after song for a couple of hours. He was awesome! Oak Ridge Boys was probably three or so years ago, they were great as well! As for seats, they all varied. I got on stage with BRC because my mom shoved me up there...he was singing autographs and I was right there at the stage and figured I would get his, but he signed my sisters and EVERYONE around me but me. So she shoved me up to get his autographed. He was surprised to see me, but he signed my hat for me!

  24. LOL Lori! I hope you have a great, trouble free summer vacation!

I am glad to hear that your muses are working well with you. Wish I could say the same, can't remember the last I was excited about my writing or an idea. Dang muses anyway...if you see Garrett around, send him home! LOL. Happy writing, I am happy for you.

    Once more, enjoy your break!
