Bo nodded in reassurance that he would stick with Candy and also him, keeping the General steady as Luke got ready to make the transfer.

Luke took a deep breath and jumped his foot slipping a little as he did. Pushing himself towards the right window he held on, trying desperately to pull himself up again.

Bo's heart skipped a beat as he saw Luke slip, shaking his head.

"Luke!"

He quickly sped forwards and pulled up next to Candy's car for Luke to hold on to.

Finally Luke managed to balance himself enough between the two cars to push himself up and scrambled getting inside the passenger seat of Candy's car. "Less you want to go to jail for takin me over state llines I'd pull over..."

Candy looked to him briefly, scared out of her wits at what Luke had just done before pulling over gently, seeing Bo pulling up behind her.

Luke swallowed. "We need to talk."

Candy sighed, not looking to him, sniffing again.

"Why...you said all you wanted to at the hospital...you got your opinions on me now...what's the point in talkin'..."

Luke sighed. "I want you to prove I'm wrong..." he stammered. "Please... prove me wrong."

Candy looked to him, tears tracing down her cheeks again.

"Prove you wrong about what?"

"Prove me wrong...that you don't love me..." his voice hesitant and shaking.

Candy sobbed softly, sniffing.

"Of course I love ya...I tried to tell ya...i'm gettin' a divorce to stay here in Hazzard with you...I don't wanna leave ya again..."

Luke sighed running a hand down his face. In some ways it would have been easier had she said no. "I love you Candy...I do...but...I'm just gonna tell you...what you did...I have a hard time believing you ain't gonna hurt me again...when you set out to use me."

Candy looked away again, shaking her head.

"Then why did ya even come after me...you ain't ever gonna trust me again anyway!"

"I don't know!" cried Luke. My head's tellin me to turn tail and run the other way...but my heart..." he began swallowing.

Candy looked to him, swallowing hard and sniffing as tears continued to fall.

"Your heart what..."

Luke swallowed and took a step forward, biting his lip before saying, "My heart's tellin me to hold on..." He took her hand. "I love you..."

Candy swallowed, gripping Luke's hand back.

"I love you too...but...but...you don't trust me...how are you gonna be able to trust me...we can't have a relationship without that...it'll never work..."

Luke sighed. She had a point. Still... "You know...my uncle always said that the way to build trust is to take chances..." He swallowed. "I've been without you...I don't like me wiithout you..."

Candy looked up at him, hands still held in his.

"I....I don't like being without you either..."

Luke swallowed and leaned forward cupping her head in his hands and kissed her gently.

Candy swallowed too as he cupped her head in his hands, closing her eyes as he leaned forward and his lips touched hers again, kissing him back softly.

Luke's arms reached around her and pulled her close, deepening the kiss, oblivious to the fact that Bo was watching.

Candy melted into his arms once more as Luke hung onto her, relaxing into his embrace and kissing him back just as deeply. Her arms snaked round his well muscled middle and held him tight.

Bo watched from the General with a small chuckle to himself...boy did Candy make a difference on Luke, once the most famous for not wanting to show public displays of affection.

Luke didn't break the kiss. Instead he slid one hand to her small waiist the other buried in her hair as he bent over her, their shadows merging together in the sun.

Candy had never felt happier than when she was in Luke's arms, feeling his hands where they were supposed to be, hus arms wrapped tight around her and protecting her from everything else in the world except his love.

Bo rolled his eyes, sitting back in the General's seat and looking up at the roof of the General.
