  1. It's true that Tom wasn't excited about making Dukes appearances while his Broadway gigs were in full swing. But he recently made a Dukes-related appearance - on his own - in Indiana. Tom is still touring here n' there for musical shows, but I don't see a reason for him not to participate in more Dukes events. It's possible that the reception he got on the Smallville set warmed him up to the notion. Brian
  2. I'm not sure "dwarfism" is any more flattering. Maybe it would be kinder to say "vertically challenged." Brian
  3. Happy New Year to everybody! My resolution? Lessee.... I think I'll quit spending so much time on Dukes of Hazzard message boards. Maybe get a life.... NAH!! Seriously though, I don't make "resolutions", somehow that word never did anything for me. I now make "plans." That way, I'm forced to think of how I can accomplish something. So, my new years plans are to : Buy real estate Restore my ' 67 Impala Granted, these seem mutually exclusive, given the $. But I like a challenge. Maybe if I quit buying Dukes DVD's.... Brian
  4. I'm looking for any "official" info on the Season 6 and 7 releases, and have not found anything yet. Anybody with confirmed info, please let us know. As I mentioned on another thread - I've only found a new "Complete boxed set" with seasons 1 through 5. Don't know if they're just trying to milk the first 5 as much as possible before releasing 6 and 7, or what. If they don't release 6 and 7, it'll irritate the heck outta me. Brian
  5. I don't know if Jay C is "locked in" for directing the Dukes sequel, if there is one. But the rest of the movie cast reportedly has contractual commitment to a sequel. Maybe that's why Knoxville and SWS have been quick to say they don't want one - Knoxville has other projects lined up, and SWS finds gigs easy enough. Jessica Simpson is the one out of the bunch who desperately needs a sequel to keep her name in lights. ( Hell, I think she filed for divorce just to keep her name in the tabloids.) I'm no expert on this stuff, but it seems likely that WB is just going to quietly count the cash for the next several months. They have worldwide receipts to gather up, and no shortage of prospective sequels and re-makes to bankroll. And honestly, I think they may have realized that their casting choices were not the strongest - or wisest picks - for something as enduring as DOH. But they're locked in to using this same cast, so the creative horizons for a sequel are narrow. Knoxville and SWS are not "country" by any stretch of the imagination. Jessica can only deliver lines if she sends them through the mail. This forces another script based on what Knoxville and SWS can work with best: more "Jackass" and "American Pie" type of humor. Jessica can walk in front of the camera wearing a bikini once in awhile, and the rest of the movie is filled with car chases. Presto! Sequel made easy. There's no question that WB made money from this flick. I think the bigger question for them now, is if the sequel would do at least as good financially. That's a tough one to call, as the first movie had the benefit of curiosity. But would "more of the same" draw enough of an audience? Brian
  6. Where did you see the info about the season 6 release? I've been combing the net trying to confirm it - and I can't find a dang thing about it. In fact, WB has released a "box set" of seasons 1 through 5, and they're calling it a "Complete" set of the series. Now, we all know that ain't complete. But WB may have decided not to bother with 6 and 7. I hope I'm wrong, so any info you've got would be appreciated. Brian
  7. I'll be happy to look it over, if you'd like. I'm sure there's other folks here who would be willing to help, too. So take yer pick! Brian
  8. In the Unfounded Rumors department, here's this for ya. It looks possible that Gy Waldron's 1975 "Moonrunners" movie, could be coming to DVD. I have no idea how soon, or if for certain. If you're interested in it, I'd recommend signing up for email alerts on the Amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005JOK8/qid=1135830447/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/002-5798661-3110443?n=130 If Dukes fans show enough interest in Moonrunners, we might help push the DVD along! Brian
  9. The Dukes movie DVD, after 1 week of release, was solidly in the #2 position for sales volume for that release period. ( This data is from 12/11/05.) The movie ahead of it in sales, was "Fantastic Four"." Not a bad start. I can only surmise that the movie DVD ran strong through the Christmas shopping season. Odds of a sequel? Hard to say, but the chance has to be there. Brian
  10. There's definately a few things worth avoiding on the net, and that, Jamanda, would be one of 'em! Anyhow, a couple of people have asked me for some tips on writing romance stories. ( That's like asking a cat for swimming pointers, y'all.) But in the interest of bein' helpful, I give you the following. ROMANCE WRITING MADE EASY! Here’s a fun guide you can use to build your story framework. Pick an answer for each item: The hero of the story is a: 1. Soldier 2. Pirate 3. Highwayman 4. Aspiring Politician 5. Celtic Warrior The hero’s heart has been scarred by personal tragedy. Namely: 1. Death of previous lady love 2. Death of entire family 3. Death of dog 4. Casino losses 5. Missed breakfast The hero, despite his wayward life, is noble and lovable because: 1. He’s filthy rich 2. He looks good in costume 3. He has a good heart 4. He has one or two friends 5. He sprang for pizza last Friday night The hero initially doesn’t care for the heroine in the story, because: 1. She’s a tart 2. She’s one of the enemy 3. She’s smarter than he is 4. She doesn’t like football 5. She talks too much The hero finally falls in love with the heroine because: 1. Opposites attract 2. She’s charming beneath all that sarcasm 3. She’s beautiful 4. He feels sorry for her after treating her awful through most of the story 5. All the other women hate his guts The heroine, after enduring suffering and endless sacrifice to prove her courage and love, eventually: 1. Tells the hero to go chase himself 2. Tells the hero she’s carrying his baby 3. Tells the hero she’s actually a princess who’s filthy rich 4. Tell the hero she didn’t mean it when she pelted him with rocks 5. Tells the hero she’ll marry him There ya go! Nothin’ to it. Brian
  11. Bo Duke Girl , As evah-denced by somebody else, I did, in fact, have "the badger state" as the correct moniker for WI. So there. I noticed on that handy link, that MN is also known as the "Land of 10,000 lunatics." Actually I woulda thought the population woulda been higher. Just KIDDING! A little gentle fun.... MN folk are right up there with people from IL, in my book. Brian
  12. Yes, there were a couple reasons. First, Sonny (Enos ) had a return clause in his contract, if his own spin-off series "Enos" failed. It did. So for the first few eps of Season Five, Enos returns while Cletus is still around, and we get to see them on duty together. The episode, "Coy Meets Girl" is the last episode to include Cletus. Rick Hurst left Dukes in order to take a role on a new CBS series. Unfortunately Rick's new gig cancelled within 3 months. I always thought Cletus was a lot of fun to watch. It's a shame the Hazzard payroll didn't allow both deputies to remain. Brian
  13. Are you a daydream believer? Does love lie bleeding in yer hands? Has cupid's arrow hit a Hazzardite in the posterior? Or are you simply a fan of the Valentine's Day Massacre ? Write a story and tell us all about it. I'm lookin' for Valentine's Day / Romance fics! Yes, you can show a fun-filled date between Daisy and Enos - or, have Miz Tizdale chase Uncle Jesse around the post office. You can show Bo Duke falling for Girl Du Jour, or maybe Daisy gets another disappointment from the latest drifter-passing-through-Hazzard. Happy or sad, 1-pagers or full stories, it's up to you! NOTE, there's just a couple of ground rules, which I'm sure you've anticipated, given our family audience: 1) Keep it at PG-13 and under, please 2) Traditional gender pairings, either "boy-meets-girl" or "girl-meets-boy." Any questions, just ask me. I'd like these in by 02/10 at the latest, so I can get them posted before Valentine's Day. Send your completed stories to : briancoltrane@yahoo.com Have fun! Brian
  14. To all my friends and kin here at HazzardNet, I wish you the very best for a warm and happy Christmas. On Christmas day, may your hearts be lighter and your smiles brighter! God bless you all, Brian
  15. We had a total of 7 Christmas Challenge fics sent in! Wow! You can read them here: http://www.dukesofhazzardfanfic.com/Fanfic/singlestories.htm Happy reading! Brian
  16. The 1:18 RC General is already showing up on ebay for double the Walmart price. But I honestly don't know of a Walmart that has any in stock, anymore. It seems Walmart had an exclusive on these. There were a couple of online retailers offering them ( check our merchandise page for a company we know of ) But I couldn't tell you if it's stock there, either. The 1:10 RC is also getting dang tough to find, and I also saw that on ebay for $147.00 recently. Wasn't sold yet, but that's what somebody was trying to get. Yikes. Brian
  17. TimDuke, which gig did that happen at? Was it at Cooter's Place back in VA? This sounds kinda familair but I don't want to open my mouth if it ain't what I think it was. Brian
  18. Inga, since you brought up Chipmunk's Christmas, I could not stop myself from sharing this parody. My apologies http://www.toonedin.com/movies/chipmunk.swf
  19. Thanks, Tim! Your help over there was much appreciated. I know you help the fans on that board a lot, and I'm glad you said something here about that sharkk guy. He was being a jerk for his own sport, and I almost shrugged it off...but he was upsetting the kids over there, and that's uncool. Like you, I couldn't let it go unanswered. He deserved opposition, and boy howdy he got it. Thanks again. Give a hollar if there's another brawl ! Brian
  20. Darrell, that was a fine speechify you gave there. Tho' personally I didn't expect anyone to apologize for anything. Spirited debate, conducted respectfully, ain't a problem. Granted, some empty beer cans got tossed back and forth on a few topics, but hell. We'd all get bored with each other if we were in total agreement. And after watching CMT repeatedly remove all traces of lively banter from their message boards, I appreciate the fact that we can air our opinions here, take our stance, and pitch some over-ripe tomatoes once in awhile. You summed it up best; families can disagree and still be family. Your gesture is appreciated, and hopefully anyone who got a little scuffed in the debates, will appreciate it too. Brian
  21. That looks like a jump that the North American General Lee club did at Covington a few years ago. Man, shoulda had some ballast in the trunk, eh? Nice footage, though. Brian
  22. Well, the epic battle resulted in the CMT mods deleting the enemy's recent posts. ( my lighthearted banter appeared to have riled him. ) Then, the Anti-Duke must have posted something nasty again, because the whole dang thread has now been wiped out! YEEHAAA!! I claim victory. Credit also to TimDuke and also Rich72 for giving that Anti-Duke hell. There's a couple other weak Anti-Duke threads on there, but they're mild enough to ignore. The CMT mods also have a hair-trigger on the gun after all this, so I'm gonna behave whenever I'm strolling across their turf. On an aside, I did invite landsharkk to bring his fight over here on HNet, but he didn't take me up on it. I'm still kinda suspicious about who that guy is / was. For somebody that supposedly hates Dukes, he made out like he knew every message board about it and half the users. Eh, whatever. Brian
  23. Darrell, I gotta chime in on your fan base assumptions. Don't take what you see on the message boards as any indicator. Going off of HNet's own traffic rankings, I can tell you that the fan base is pretty dang big. Much as I'd like to think our Forums are compelling - it's actually a small percentage to the main traffic. We get emails from people all over the world. This isn't just a group of twenty people on the same five message boards. Trust me on that. We wouldn't have kept upgrading servers over the past 5 years had the fan base been shrinking! I ain't just whistlin' Dixie. You're my buddy, but you're dead wrong on that assumption. Have a beer. Brian
  24. Well, see? If you were silly enough to try that in MN, then it's pretty darn likely a Wisconsin person could try opening a beer bottle with their teeth. I suppose that's why ya got those twist-off caps on plastic beer bottles now. Brian
  25. Good point! It's just as well the Hazzard County law didn't wear bullet-proof vests. With as often as they went flyin' into the pond, they woulda sank right to the bottom. Welcome to HazzardNet, Duke o' Chicago! Brian
