  1. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! Tho' that "bad as trekkies" comment a few posts back cracked me up. Well of course we are! Worse than that, probably...at least Star Trek is cool. If only the Enterprise had a Dixie horn. No more beer for me tonight... Brian
  2. I have it from a solid source, that Tom is "likely" to be at DukesFest in 2007, unless he has other commitments that conflict. Brian
  3. You might be a redneck, if the Cracker Barrell hired a bouncer to keep you out. Brian
  4. Well, SOMEONE is sorry about that. Is this why there's a job posting for a moderator on Monster.com ? Hey, at least I wasn't the one who sabotaged the forums while we were gone. I swear, turn your back on MaryAnne for a minute and she knocks the walls down. Brian
  5. Hey ya'll ! Just got back from Nashville today, and thought I'd start a topic for DukesFest feedback. What did you enjoy the most? What didn't work out? It's hard for me to be objective, as I was one of a score of volunteers helping out over the weekend. I saw some dreams come true for a lot of happy people. I also met a number of folks who were disappointed, because they traveled a great distance to see John / Tom and didn't get a chance to get anywhere near them. (When 75,000 people are looking for autographs from six cast members, you know the numbers ain't gonna dice out. ) On the plus side, this was the best DukesFest of the entire run. I'm too exhausted to report on it just yet, but personally I did have a great time. I'll write up a little ditty on it soon. Meantime, check out the great articles Jax posted within the DF topics here. Tell us all about your experience - the shows, the cars, the cast, the hotels, the venue, what have ya! Brian
  6. I'm really going to appreciate the big-screen movie for what it was, after reading about the "prequel" to DVD that's in the works. Blaugh. I guess this falls under the category of "be careful what you wish for." I think all of us were interested in a 2nd Dukes movie, but for cryin' in the beer, we didn't expect them to hit bottom and then start digging for a lower level. At the small prequel budget, I figure any stunt scenes will be leftovers that were cut from the big screen flick. The cast will be assorted members of Broken Lizard with plenty of T&A sidekicks. The good news is, with it being direct to DVD, I can watch it at home while totally drunk, instead of the meager three-beer bracing I had for last year's theatre release. Yeeehawww. *uurrrp * Brian
  7. For those of us who were disappointed in the movie, there's no worse punishment imaginable than a bad prequel. WB seems to be in a race for the gutter. Brian
  8. B.L, here's how it reads: In order to keep the lines moving each actor will sign for free any item you purchase from them and one (1) other item. NO EXCEPTIONS! Do not bring more than 1 extra item to be signed. No one will autograph extra items for a fee. In other words, you need to make a purchase. In exchange, the cast member will sign the purchased item, plus one item that you've brought along. They won't sign more than one brought-in item. This is also how it worked at the car show gigs Cooter did over the winter. Brian
  9. It's an Impala, not a Chevelle, but yeah....nothin' like smackin' it broadside with a semi to trash a classic car. Bastards. I'm really hoping they used a model for filming that, but the scene happened so fast I couldn't really tell. Looks like Supernatural will be back for a second season this fall. Season 1 will be coming out on DVD in a few months too.
  10. While they're at it, they should bring back the Dukes cartoons. What the hell. Brian
  11. tfox80, that's a new one. While I'm not an expert on Dukes collectibles, I'm not a slouch. I've never heard of a Dukes bookshelf. Not that there couldn't be one - there's Dukes of Hazzard bedsheets, curtains, bedspreads, garbage cans....so who knows. It's not out of the question that there's maybe a bookshelf made to go with it. As far as value, it's always in the eye of the bidder. The nature of the object can make a difference, too. For example there's lunchbox collectors who might buy a Dukes lunchbox so they have another item in the TV category of their collection. And of course a Dukes fan might by the Dukes lunchbox - without buying any other collectible lunchbox in their life. Same thing with die-cast cars. General Lee die casts sell like crazy, snatched up by die cast collectors, and Dukes fans alike. I don't know of too many folks that collect bookshelves, so that's kind of a tough one. But for somebody who had a room decked out with the Dukes bedding and curtain set, it could be an Artifact Deluxe. Good luck! Let us know how it turns out. Brian
  12. Howdy, welcome to HazzardNet! Unfortunately, I think you're gonna be outta luck on the replacement. The best you could hope for, is if you had the original store receipt, is to exchange it. But since you're talking back from Christmas, it's unlikely. Most stores require refunds or exchanges to be handled in 30 to 60 days from the original purchase. I had trouble with skipping on a Dukes DVD set, myself. Was on Season Two. Only affected one of the episodes, but it affected it so badly that the episode can't be played. My DVD player doesn't skip on any other disk. I've had no trouble with any of the other Dukes DVD sets, for 1 through 4. You can always try to exchange it anyway - got nothing to lose! Brian
  13. Yes! MaryAnne is celebrating her birthday today! I'd tell you which one, but I don't want her returning the favor in a few months. What I will tell ya, though, is that MaryAnne is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. Please join me in wishing her a very happy birthday! Happy Birthday, cousin! May the dearest wish of your heart, come true. Mush, Brian
  14. I have to admit, it looks like I've lost my own challenge. @#$%&*!!! MaryAnne told me I missed responding to one of her posts, and now that I looked around a little bit....I think I see the one she's talking about. I"m waiting for our judges to rule consensus before I give any concession speech tho'. Brian
  15. MaryAnne has advised me that I missed one of her posts and the 48 hour window has elasped. ( She was very nice about it, not nearly as smug as I would have been.) Because there's a legit chance I missed something, I'm not replying to anything else until the judges here have time to look things over. So as of 9:00 central time, Wed 03/22, we need to tally up. Thank ya, Brian
  16. Oh crap. I did?! I might have...... I guess that means I'll be lookin' for a job one some "Eight is Enough" message board. Or worse. Since obviously I can't keep up with the frantic pace of this joint. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! Brian
  17. Pipsqueak! That's something Rosco wasn't used to being called. (Though I'm sure he's been called worse. Heh! ) One of my favorite scenes with Sheriff Little...and I can't recall what ep it was.....was when he was working for Boss, and he was guarding the Dukes in jail. They escape, and they're in the process of climbing out the courthouse window, and Little nabs Bo by the scruff of the neck and slams him into the file cabinet. Now that's law enforcement. Not that I root for the Dukes getting beat up; it's more that worthy opponents make for interesting drama. Ain't 'dat right. Brian
  18. GAH!! Are there any other fandom sites hiring for smartass moderators? I could end up moderating a "Knight Rider" message board if I'm not careful. And you, MaryAnne....you'd have to hope some "Miami Vice" site needed extra help....or somethin'. Brian
  19. I'm a moderator, not a doctor. But here's a great website where you can type in searches for all kinds of medical questions. http://www.webmd.com I wouldn't think there's any real harm in decaffinated green tea. It contains antioxidants, and it's basically a steaming cup of swampwater. (I'm not a big fan of hot teas, I'll admit it. ) There's some medical debate on whether or not there's measurable health benefits to green tea, but I've never seen anything that suggested it would be harmful. Brian
  20. Brandy, My condolences on the loss of your classmate. It's very hard to forgive a drunk driver for robbing someone of their life; of all "accidents" this is the most preventable. Some years ago, I witnessed a drunk driving accident in broad daylight. Watched a car speed through a stop sign, never slowing, and t-bone a van. I won't describe the details of the scene, but the van that was struck was overturned, and it had kids in it. Getting behind the wheel drunk amounts to a homicidal intent. But most drunk drivers get behind the wheel thinking they are "ok to drive." This is the mistake; not recognizing, or admitting, that one shouldn't be on the road. And it's nearly impossible to take one of those height-weight charts and figure out how much you can "safely" drink in an hour or two and still be able to drive home. And bartenders don't use scientific measuring when mixing a rum and coke. I've had mixed drinks that barely tasted of booze and didn't affect me at all; and I've had the same mixed drink slap me upside the head after drinking half of it. The alcohol content in wine varies, too. Some are 7.5% alcohol by volume; others 10%; I've seen some with more. So is it "safe" to drive after just having a glass or two of wine? Beats me, but nobody can afford to be wrong. Brian
  21. Westerns! Don't even get me started. To the already great lists, lemme add one from several years ago. "The Quick and the Dead" with Sharon Stone. Also dug "The Alamo" which came out a couple years back. My all-time favs are the classics already mentioned, and more too numerous too list. But I'm glad that Hollywood still cranks out new ones once in awhile. Brian
  22. There's a couple episodes we shouldn't count, sanctioned or otherwise....like "Strange Visitor to Hazzard" and the entire Coy and Vance season. Brian
  23. It's doesn't help that my opponent is relentless. Jeeze LOUISE MaryAnne, I just got caught up, I refreshed the page, and...pow. Your tire tracks are all over the place again. Gaaaaaaaaaaaah. Brian
  24. JulieDuke, Right now this is kind of a grudge match between the two of us. ( The HazzardNet staff has a proud history of trying to get on each other's nerves. ) We will have future Post Hogg contests for non-staff members. It's too much fun not to let other people try it! One thing tho', this is harder to keep up with than it looks. GAH! Brian
  25. Let's face it, you and me get less qualified for this gig as technology advances. Or, since this is Hazzard, we're actually more qualified by the virtue of bein' less sophisticated. What if Meadowmufn gets into a buncha new programming stuff and decides she actually wants capable people running this place?? AAAAAHHHHH!!! Brian
