  1. I'm wishing there would have been more eps with Sheriff Little, and that we would have got to see some bad-natured rivalry between the Sheriffs of Chickasaw and Hazzard County. I enjoyed Sheriff Little because he had it in for everybody, equally. He had no use for the Dukes, and he couldn't stand Rosco, and he didn't like ol' Boss Hogg. One gets the impression that Sheriff Little didn't like Hazzard County as a whole - or, he was somewhat jealous of it's freewheeling antics. Chickasaw County always seemed like it wasn't any fun. No wonder, eh? Brian
  2. There's a lot of inconsistencies, especially in the first season eps. Rosco would have a watch on in one scene, and later on it's gone. Same is true with rings. I suppose if there was a pond-dunk scene coming up, Rosco would shed all the trinkets. Heh heh. I'm gonna have to watch the Season 1 DVD's again and name some of the eps to look for. Brian
  3. We've had some various stages, awright. I wonder what HazzardNet will look like in another 5 years. Will it be video-interactive and we'll all be staring at one another via webcam? Might be fun, but I'd be tempted to forgo some of my more smarmy remarks. I shouldn't worry too much about the HNet future. I got my hands full with the present. Brian
  4. Oh, have a beer and relax. Just don't drive afterwards for God's sake Brian
  5. Anybody can make a mistake - though this is a serious one. I hope Tom confronts the issue with integrity. There's an old rule of thumb....when ya mess up, fess up, and do what you can to make things right. Brian
  6. Over-ripe bananas might make for good cooking, but come on, I'm not looking for more work here. What's the use of peel n' eat food if it's beyond bein' easy? Also up there on my "thhbpth!" food list are tomatoes that are under-ripe or over-ripe. Under ripe, and they're not tasty. Over-ripe, and the innards turn into a slimy goo. No good for sandwiches. Blaugh. All this probably explains my fondness for basic foods, like cereal dry from the box, and chips straight from the bag. Brian
  7. LS3, you are correct. The main objective is for MaryAnne and I to wear each other down, to the point one of us misses responding to the other's post at some point. I think we kinda got a head start on that. Heh heh! Brian
  8. Right. The Post Hogg thread is a safety zone. Posts by MaryAnne and I, in this thread, don't count towards nothin'. Brian
  9. MaryAnne, that's fine. Posts count whether we start somethin' new, or post in an exisiting topic. Here's the one wrinkle I had, though....each "round," each of us would have to also start 1 new topic. Here's how I'd put it, originally: I also need to add, that we can freely exceed the number of required posts, we just can't post LESS. This okay with you, o' esteemed, worthy opponent? Brian
  10. Brandy, the Dukes cartoon series originally aired in 1983, I think. There were only 20 episodes. Brian
  11. Kitty, for the love of God, Wisconsin is the "Dairy State", not the "Beer State." Granted, WI has it's share of party shindigs and it's not unusual for taverns to outnumber everything else in a small town. Despite that, I don't think the state has the market cornered on drinking. That being said, Tom's had a long and successful career - without any such incident like this, until recently. Unless we find out otherwise, I'm chalking it up to a single event and a bad decision on his part. Ask anybody why they were driving drunk, and they'll tell you stuff like this: "I felt ok." "I wasn't going that far." "I called for a ride but I couldn't get ahold of anybody." "I was being careful and going slow." The worst thing about having your judgment impaired by alcohol, is that you don't think your judgment is impaired. I said it in another post and I'll repeat it here. I'm just glad there was a cop around who noticed Tom's driving and stopped him. This coulda been worse news, had Tom hurt himself or hurt somebody else in the process. Tom made a mistake, and a serious one, but thank God it wasn't worse. Brian
  12. All I got to say, is thank God there was a cop around to see Tom's erratic driving, and stop him. Before Tom hurt somebody or hurt himself. Kudos to the law on this one. Brian
  13. Lemme just declare this particular thread a "safe zone", where MaryAnne and I can leave minor taunts or general remarks without worrying about them "counting" for this or that. Because I felt compelled to answer that last post. SNORT. Man this is already hard. MaryAnne, I can't tell if I can't find your posts, or if you haven't posted yet, or what. AAAAAHHHH!!! Brian
  14. Something else I hate.....over-ripe bananas. Blaugh. Why is it, they go from green to black within 3 days of getting them home from the store? I try to eat healthy. I buy bananas. Then I throw away bananas, because for the half-hour they were at a nice ripe yellow, I forgot about 'em. Brian
  15. Val, I think rating posts would be a neat sidebar, but it's kinda subjective. I personally have no objection to any bonus points or other special category judging that y'all might wanna craft up on the side. Judges are welcome to PM messages to each other, email, instant msg, whatever to sort it out. The one thing you can't do, is tip off me and MaryAnne about anything. Though of course you're free to post your own remarks, so long as there's no "hints" about a location of a post one of us hasn't found yet, ect. Might be neat to have special ratings beneath a post. Say for example, I leave a scathing, but humorous remark aimed at MaryAnne. You could assign a "smartass value" to the remark based on a scale of 1 to 10. Have to be careful though, because if I push things too far, MaryAnne could just delete my HazzardNet registration as a whole. Game OVER! Heh! Brian
  16. Maybe not, but I'll take it anyhow. Also, lemme just say in advance, no hard feelin's, no matter who refs for what side. Brian
  17. MaryAnne, despite yer smarmy attitude, I find your rules reasonable enuff. I suggest we commence fire....I mean, start our contest tomorrow, on Saturday. We start easy. 2 posts each, left in seperate places in the forums. We got 48 hours from the time of the respective posts, to remit a response to the enemy - um, opponent, and start a 3rd. Only thing is, we gotta take our group of referees and split them up in respective ref teams. Awright....choose sides! Lets see if this is even. Judges, refs, watchdogs and passerby, declare what contestant you're gonna monitor for! (This outta be interesting, to see where loyalties shake out....) No matter what ref team you're on, though, you'll have to be impartial about making sure everything's played fair. Brian
  18. Oh, you just used the wrong word. That's awright then. Nobody minds if ya use the wrong word. We won't get picky. THBTH! Awright, Val asked about rules. Hmm....rules.... do we need any stinkin' rules? Brian
  19. I think "Committed" fits, yeah! MaryAnne, as far as you typing slow so "I can keep up".... ha ha. Very amusin'. At least I can spell. ( "Dual" is like..two, and "Duel" is me shooting your fool head off. Maybe after I win, I can talk Meadowmufn into installing a Spellcheck in the Forums for ya.) Brian
  20. 48 hours. Hmm. Well, considerin' we each have other responsibilities, and duties here as well, I suppose that's reasonable. Besides, you type slow. Doesn't look like anybody wants to get in the middle of this, though. No volunteers for referees. ( Given our last challenge of a couple years ago, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. But hey, we promised no violence this time. ) Brian
  21. Yes, bait! So now that my esteemed peer and partner in crime - er, partner in Hazzard county business, is paying attention.... I propose a friendly little challenge here on the Forums between myself and MaryAnne. Nothing like the dire duels of the distant past where we tried to annihilate one another for sport. Though that always drew a crowd and we're probably not above mayhem if the occassion should call for it. For now, though, I'm thinkin' more of a chase-and-race through the forums, that would pit each of us against each other and against the clock. Each of us would have to pay attention to what the other is doing, as well as do our best to confound each other. For example, on Friday night, I'd leave 2 different messages in the Forums, and so would MaryAnne. By Saturday night, we'd each have to find and respond to the other's messages - plus each of us adds one entirely new message, elsewhere. So by Sunday, we'd each have three messages to find and respond to, and a fourth message to start. It would snowball until one of us found it impossible to keep up with and missed a message. That's the basic idea. The messages/responses would have to be a minimum of one complete sentence. Far as other rules....just like any event in Hazzard, we'd have to expect outside factors comin' into play. Which means if other folks respond to our posts, that's fine, that's what the Forums are for. MaryAnne and I still have to find each other's posts though, and leave a comment on that thread as well. Also, things like computer crashes and net outages could happen to either of us. Just like how a car can break down in a race. If there's downtime caused by whatever factor, it doesn't stop the clock. Only thing MaryAnne and I have to come to terms on, is how much time is allowed for the responses to be posted. 24 or 48 hours, ect. We would also have to agree to having a couple of neutral parties officiate the whole deal. We'd have to each pick 1 or 2 from whoever volunteered. Finding neutral officials is gonna be tough, because I'm sure that everybody will be betting on me to win. What say you, MaryAnne? You in? What terms? And if MaryAnne accepts this challenge, are there any early volunteers for officiating this mess? It would require counting and tracking our posts, their locations, the time of original message and the response, ect. ( all times based on HNet time.) Absolutely no cheating or "hints" to be given by the officials to the combatants - I mean, contestants. ( I can do my own cheating, thankyaverymuch......just kiddin'! ) Brian
  22. I obtained the Dukes cartoons from an ebay source years ago - and though the video quality was poor, it was still fun to watch. The bad news is, most of these cartoons have Coy and Vance in them. Bo and Luke only appear in about 4 eps. The General Lee doesn't talk in the cartoon, I can put that much to rest. (what would the car say anyhow, that ain't already covered in "Yeehaaw?") The General does have some Mach 5 and/or KITT-like features though, that it suddenly displays at a moment's notice, never to be seen again. The true stars of the cartoon series are Boss and Rosco, who are completely natural in animated form. The artists creating the cartoon did a decent job with likeness and expression, and when you add the vocal talents of Sorrell and Jimmie, it's pure fun. Coy and Vance come across as dull as usual, but at least the cartoon versions of them had facial expressions that occassionally changed. Brian
  23. Glad you're enjoying HazzardNet! You're always welcome to post in the Chat section of the forums, if you wanna gather up a few folks for a yap in the HNet chatroom. Or, to keep the gathering more contained, you can always leave a private msg for a few of your buddies here and organize it that way. Depends if you want to leave the door open for all passerby or just meet a couple folks at a time. Have fun! Brian
  24. I've been taking a look at the number of posts we've got on record for everybody. I was just curious because MaryAnne had posted an announcement about trying to break the traffic laws - I mean, the traffic records, for number of users on the forums at one time. To do that though, poeple gotta have somethin' to read. I myself have been slacking off in the babble department. I'm way behind in my usual news hunting - though I have been doing Hazzard-related business. For herself, MaryAnne was on leave for a few months. (We are very happy she's back! ) Toward the last couple months here though, things did kinda die off a little bit, and I'll take responsibility for that. Yet, I notice here, MaryAnne has 914 posts, since June of 2001. I have 1078 posts since December 2001. I figure her leave of absence, and my later sign-up, kinda balance each other out, so timewise we're about even. Which means she's got some catching up to do. If she's game, I might have a friendly challenge to offer, that would help even up the score. So, we'll just leave this message here as bait. Brian
