No, the higher the score, the better. The bad thang is, I posted that quiz in 2006 and you just got around to taking it. Of course, I never got around to writing the HazzardNet moderator aptitude exam...which is probably just as well.

Before he was Boss Hogg, Sorrell Booke had a role as a Southern Sheriff in a gum commercial. Anybody remember "Freshen Up Gum?" This commercial looked like it belonged on Hee Haw, right down to the hound dog. But the set looks like it could have been in The Dukes of Hazzard, doesn't it? And little did Sorrell know at the time, but that whole cheek-pinch thing was gonna be stickin' around... Sorrell Booke commercial

Update: I emailed Wayne. I'll share any info as I get it. If nobody answers me, I'll be honest about that too.

Update: I emailed Gary. Not sure if he's checking that email address anymore, but if I get a response I'll let ya'll know.

I was thinking you could contact Gary, who's actually been to Cliff's place. Gary might have contact info for Cliff, an address or something, so you could get more info. I met Gary only once many years ago and I doubt he'd remember me. But I could try contacting him if you want. The only way I can think of, to really track this all down - and it could be a pain - is to contact Wayne W. who handled the disbursal on the WB's GL's, and see if he had any info on the junked cars. Who got them, and how many, makes and models, ect. Wayne aside, somewhere in WB's records there should be a VIN history of all the cars used in the show's production. It would take some title search work, but once the titles were shown as "salvage" there should be a record of who they were sold/given to. I don't know if anyone has ever approached the issue from this angle. And I don't know if WB would part with this info. Reconciling the VIN's and title records would be an interesting project and a helluva scavenger hunt, if there were other junked, but non-crushed, GL's out there. I also wonder if there's a way to research this backwards - if the cars that were junked in GA had GA title records. Lacking a VIN, I don't know how feasible it would be to check GA records for specific makes/models that were titled to salvage, around the time of the first 5 eps. Now you've got me curious. I might have to go on a quest.

I always keep my eye out for one-of-a-kind Dukes of Hazzard collectibles on ebay. This fits the bill; a "Boss Hogg for President" press kit that includes 3 photos, 4 buttons, a bumper sticker, and other materials. It appears to have the WB trademark on the bumper sticker. Might be fun to get just to read the "acceptance speech" in the kit. Just under 3 days left on the auction, as of this posting. Boss Hogg for President Kit

Another 1969 Dodge Charger/ General Lee replica for sale on ebay here. This looks like a set price listing and not an auction. Seller is asking $23,000, which is in line with what the Volo General Lee went for. Arkansas General Lee On an aside, I'm seeing some ebay listings for General Lees that aren't actually owned by the seller yet. These auctions cause me great suspicion. I mean, how can you sell something you don't yet own? I wonder what cars they're finding, how they're finding them, and what kind of quality you're getting when they have a price up front without a product in hand. If they don't have the car, and don't know the condition of what they're going to find, how...? I don't want to say anything beyond that, as the seller has positive feedback, but...I still suggest strong caution and sharp attention to fine print when you see these IndianaHoop General Lee's. The sleazy marketing with the belly-pierced babe is a nice touch. But, if anyone has had a good experience with them firsthand, feel welcome to post about it, so the rest of us know.

You are welcome, Carlos. It was an interesting question and a good discussion. You do pretty good with that translation thing you use. Sometimes our posts here on HazzardNet don't make any sense in English, I can only wonder what they look like after translation. Maybe it's better than what we start with. Heh!

The original "Killer Shrews" movie of 1959 was...well, so dang bad, it became a cult classic. James Best starred in the original movie, which is reason enough to watch it if you get the chance. Then, you'll be all set for the sequel, due out soon, "Return of the Killer Shrews!" Yes, shrews. Nasty lil' varmints. Eeek. Hey, if they attack by the tens of thousands, it's scary, right? You betcha. I'm normally not one for horror films, but as a lifelong Dukes of Hazzard fan, I can't pass up a movie that has James Best, Rick Hurst, and John Schneider in it. I checked out the official website tonight, and the promo photos look interesting. Have a look: Return of the Killer Shrews Looks like fun, eh? Per IMDB, the movie is in post-production status. Don't know the release date yet, but we'll hollar when we hear of it. Or, one of ya'll will know before we do and post it, which is fine!

Here's the JL official info. Scroll through it to get location, hotels, and the event schedules. Sounds like a lot of fun, and it's FREE! Of course, they want you to buy lots of toy cars. Keep in mind, Sonny may be charging for autographs, I don't know what the going rate is. Johnny Lightning shindig in Iowa

I fear the worst for those cars. Based on the lore I once knew, just about everything was crushed. I don't know if the cement in Lee1 had anything to do with it's escape from that fate. As of Lee1's discovery, there were also 2 surviving patrol cars, junked but not crushed. I don't know what happened to them either. I'm gonna share a link that's kind of touchy. My purpose here is to give you whatever info may be useful, not to dig up dirt, but this is the best accounting that I know of. I don't know if Gary's email still works, but it's in this page. Lore of LEE1 discovery By the former webmaster of the NAGLFC. (pre-CGLFC era)

From Hoss's post above: "I nearly missed this one. O'Connor Paint Supply, which has been a part of Hazzard Square since 'Swamp Molly' (the first California episode), has disappeared. It used to be in the empty store roughly in the center of the picture." This one makes sense. You can't be surprised that the paint supply store went out of business, considering how often painters ended up getting their ladders knocked out from under 'em by a patrol car. Heh heh. Seriously tho', this is amazing stuff, Hoss. Great work!

Tom Wopat Concert 6/20 - Live Streaming
Brian Coltrane replied to Brian Coltrane's topic in Tom Wopat/Luke Duke
I watched it, was a good performance. Tom sang one of his trademark songs, "Makin' Whoopie", and also featured the "50 Checks" song from "Catch Me if you Can." And I've never heard a jazz rendition of "Summer in the City" before but they did a heck of a job with it. At the end of the show, Tom is giving kudos to the band, naming each performer. "Ted Firth on Piano"... ect. Then Tom says, "And if you didn't like the show...I'm John Schneider!" Clever, ain't he? That cracked me up. By the applause though, I don't think Tom had anything to worry about. -
Then you might also wanna drop a line to Jerry Rushing, who inspired Gy Waldron. I know you're probably already aware of this, but for those reading the thread who are not - the movie "Moonrunners" was Gy's first effort at the telling of this lifestyle. Moonrunners was edgy, gritty, and somewhat dark, perhaps truer to Rushing's experiences but less suitable for television. Aw heck...Mufn, we need to do a page on the Moonrunners movie. Add it to the never-ending project list. Anyway, back to Jerry Rushing. I've had the pleasure of speaking to him a couple times, he's been at some Dukes shindigs in the past. For many years now he's been a reformed man. In his youth, he was worth avoiding by his own admissions. And drawing on my own personal insights, I'll say this. If you take the person who Rushing eventually became, and combined it with some of the exploits of his past, you have a true living "Duke."

Good eyes, Roger. You're right. That's the early 80's era Warner logo. Another clue, is when I went to save this image to my computer, in order to enlarge it - the name of the image came up as, "Studio Sign." So it looks like this was something displayed outside of the Warner Bros studio. The question that remains is when this billboard is from. It has Flash, and Enos, which tells us that it's probably after the "Enos" spinoff ended and Sonny returned to the show. But I can't figure out what they mean by "Bigger and Better than Ever." Off the top of my head, I can't put this together with a particular season. And I'm not sure it would be related to the return of John and Tom, post-strike; sadly the show didn't make it much further thereafter, even though the scripts were better. (while many of the car stunts were fake or re-used clips) I'd be surprised if WB went through this only to cancel the show a year later, but...anything is possible. Other guesses, anyone?

What a great question. I have no idea where this was displayed. It's interesting that the billboard does not say "CBS" anywhere on it. Only says "Friday 8 pm Channel 2." Given the size and scope of this thing, it looks like it would have been displayed outside of a studio or network affiliate. I'm still surprised it doesn't say "CBS" though. I'm also guessing that the shadow on the billboard is a palm tree, making another guess that this was displayed in L.A. All wild guesses. Maybe Hoss has some ideas?

Thanks Hoss, that's certainly more affordable. And you can make money with a tow truck. Or, you can sink money into General Lee Dodge Chargers, like this one in FL. Steep price, bidding starting at $33,000. Wow. Not to get picky, but I'm not sure this car would meet the elitist requirements of a true GL replica. I can't tell if there's a rollbar, and it's a 68, not a 69, but...whatever, I'd be happy to start with one of these, ya know? Also appears to have been signed by some cast members. Florida General Lee On an aside, I noticed the Volo General Lee went for something around 25 grand. Not a bad price. The cheaper project General Lee, seems to have been removed from the listings. Looks like that seller may have been getting pretty low offers.

Thanks for posting about it, Roger. Always feel welcome to shout it out here on the Forums, and I can put a post on the homepage prior to the event. Looks like they have two more shows coming up this summer -I'll keep 'em on the radar. Anybody who goes through such lengths (and heights, and risk, and expense) to pay tribute to the Dukes of Hazzard, deserves some attention.

the real General Lee er I mean one of 'em
Brian Coltrane replied to Daisy Duke 01's topic in The General Lee
Thanks for posting, DaisyDuke01! And Hoss, as usual you come through with the verification, thanks! Ya know if Hazzard County had it's own FBI office, you'd be running it.
