Wine (I got given two bottles of French wine this afternoon, although I could've gone with Cognac as I got a bottle of that too )

I don't remember the scene, but the merchandise (bracelet, mink coat, tickets to Mexico) sounds like 'No More Mr. Nice Guy' in season 7.

This should be the final F1 hijack of the year . Last night, Lewis Hamilton won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. It's presented annually to the sportsperson judged to have achieved the most that year. The winner is chosen by the public from a shortlist. "The recipient must either be British or reside and play a significant amount of their sport in the United Kingdom." It's Lewis' second win, with his first back in 2014.

The new strain is most prevalent in London and the south-east of England, but has spread to other parts of Britain as well as a few other countries in limited amounts. It's up to 70% more transmissible, but is said to be no more deadly and they don't think it will react differently to the vaccine. As I said in the other thread, several countries have banned flights to/from the UK. Ireland is only allowing freight to be carried on ferries to/from the UK, and France has suspended all trade links for 48 hours.

Nothing special here either. At the moment the shops are still open as normal, but the number of new Covid cases has jumped for the past couple of days. Everyone's being told to be sensible over the Christmas period and keep social interaction to a minimum. The UK upped their lockdown on Friday night and then again last night. They have a new strain that spreads more quickly, so they're back to essential shops only (tough for all the men who leave their Christmas shopping until Christmas Eve!). Several European countries, including Ireland, have put a 48 ban on flights to/from the UK, so it's a good job I wasn't going home for Christmas.

We had a frost again this morning, but I haven't seen any snow yet. I believe your blizzards are heading our way though!

Yahoo (Yahoo Serious is an Australian actor) The British plainclothes police detectives the Criminal Investigation Department are usually referred to as just the CID, but these letters are said to stand for a considerably ruder phrase in slang. Needless to say, I won't be posting it here!

I used to work in a building which also housed a crèche and an after-schools club for older children. Someone put up signs in the bathrooms about not using "alot of toilet paper". I took them down and replaced them with signs about not using "a lot of toilet paper". About half the people who noticed me changing them couldn't see anything wrong with the original signs! I pointed out that that was exactly the reason I was changing them, so that the kids didn't get the wrong spelling reinforced in their minds. Similar to the "Registeration" story, a local upmarket hotel had "Enterance 100m" on its sign for months a couple of years ago. They eventually changed it.

I was lucky to build most of my collection when there were nearly two dollars to the pound. Postage back then was about $40 for the first model and then $10-15 for each one after that (when ordered together). I was also lucky that the Post Office only charged me import taxes a couple of times! You can buy them from UK sellers on a well-known auction site, but they're around £90-100. If it's any consolation, they will almost certainly go up in value
-
If you're after some consolation: there, their, they're!

Here you go Roger - a quick guide to commas: I can have a look through the reviews if you like, Roger.

If you edit a post it will stay in the same place. It won't appear in the list of recent activity, and the only way we'll know that it's edited (unless you tell us) is the "Edited [Date] by RogerDuke" line at the end.

I haven't seen the movie, but IMDb says that Phil Hartman played Ted Maltin in 'Jingle All the Way'. What a coincidence that this thread is discussing one of Arnie's co-stars when the episode review thread is discussing Kevin Peter Hall being in 'Predator'.

On the old forum there used to be a 10 minute window to edit posts. With the current setup I think you can go back anytime and edit old posts, but that may be an ability only open to people with a certain number of posts or who've been granted permission - I'm really not sure how it works, but I'm pretty sure that you can do it. Now that I'm a moderator, I can edit everyone's posts, so it's difficult for me to try it out! If you feel the need to redo season 1, go ahead. It makes more sense to have the episodes in order, but people who've already read your original reviews may miss your updates, so maybe you could put a post at the end when you've completed them. I don't remember there being anything wrong with your season 1 reviews, but now you've reached the end, you probably see the first ones differently.

Yes, I have grabs of various details like the signs, the lights etc. You can see a bitmap version of my Boar's Nest sign artwork in the Fan Art thread. It was one of my first designs, so it's a bit bright and clean. You'll see some of the later signs in the thread look more weathered.
-
I've just looked through my screengrabs, and all I have at the moment are detail views. I also checked online, but it just showed me how many people were using my artwork to make money for themselves. Many years ago, my Boar's Nest sign was sent in good faith to someone who claimed they wanted it to make a banner for their child's birthday, and then it started popping up in various forms on different products. I'm flattered when someone uses my artwork for a personal project, but it's not so easy to see people using it make money without being in the loop!

Welcome to HNet, Charger UK. I'd be surprised if there weren't similar pictures of the Boar's Nest somewhere here already, but maybe you need a good wide view. If no one else has anything, I'll have a look at the weekend. I'll just point out that screengrabs of wide angles views aren't going to have great resolution. Let us know more about your diorama and hopefully it'll inspire our search.

Thanks, Skipper. It's Roger who's put in the work on this thread. I wonder if John had any other story ideas that never got made. Maybe they got included in his later works such as "Collier & Co."

'Opening Night at the Boar's Nest' was written and directed by John Schneider - his first credit in each category for the show and his career. Thanks for writing these reviews, Roger. It's been a while since I've seen some of the later episodes, so these have acted as good reminders. It's also great to get a different viewpoint and add some background.
