  1. Then I'll be a monkey's uncle .
  2. Waylon says almost exactly the same thing about Cletus in 'The Great Bank Robbery'! Speaking of Nancy Lou, a year before this, Kim Richards appeared in a final season episode of 'CHiPs'. Her younger sister, Kyle, was in the following episode. Something new I've just discovered is that they are aunts of Paris Hilton.
  3. We've had a week on level 3 lockdown with parts of the country on level4, but now we're going to level 5 across the whole country for six weeks. My work won't be affected as it's part of the construction sector, but all non-essential shops will be closing again (just when things were just starting to feel slightly more normal!). Schools are to remain open, but next week is their mid-term break. Restaurants and cafes will be open for take-away only. People who aren't going work are asked to stay at home unless they're exercising, and even when exercising we're confined to 5km (3.1 miles) from home (with fines coming in next week). Socialising is also pretty much banned with no visiting allowed to other households (even in the garden). The only exception being to meet one other household in a public place such as a park. Weddings and funerals can still go ahead with a maximum of 25 attendees (up from six and ten respectively in the original March lockdown). So long as people don't panic buy this time around, I should be OK. I'll miss shopping for non-food items and going more than 5km from home, but otherwise I'll manage. Spike - masks have been mandatory in shops and other public spaces for a couple of months, but we've gone from low double-digit daily new case numbers a few weeks ago to over 1,000 for the past week or so. We also had a period of about two weeks with only one or two deaths, but now we're getting over ten a day some days.
  4. I can't see any evidence that he was a member here, but several old posts mention his name. Some talk positively about his book or his knowledge of Dukes, while a couple of others suggest that he has/had plans for the General's pushbar for sale.
  5. It was first published in 2007. From what I've read online, the book concentrates on the Georgia episodes. The content seems to get good feedback, but the poor quality of the images is often mentioned in reviews. It looks like Jon Holland followed it up with another Dukes-related book - 'A Moonrunner's Tale: From Grit to Gold, How "The Dukes" was Born' was published in 2010, and tells of Jerry Rushing and his contribution to the show. Both of Jon Holland's books are available in paperback for around $15.
  6. I've been buying CDs since about 1986, so it's easy to forget some of the songs I have in my collection, especially when I bought the album for a different track.
  7. Looks like you found them. I'm not a huge fan of change, but I really like the more prominent use of the mid-blue in various places. I also see we're back to circular avatars, but I don't even mind them this time around. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date, MM.
  8. Not for a while, but I've certainly done it with compilation/sampler albums in the past. Sometimes they have an artist's non-album track or remix, while other times it might be hard to find complete albums by an obscure artist (this is much less relevant since the internet took over). A few years ago I ripped all my CDs to my computer. Every so often I'll hear a track I like, and when I check out who it's by, I find that I have the song already, hidden away on a CD I bought years ago!
  9. Billie Rae Bates' book is currently $15.50 at Amazon. You can even view a few pages - see here.
  10. Bruce Glover, the actor who played Wilbur, was one of Blofeld's right-hand men in the 1971 James Bond movie 'Diamonds are Forever'.
  11. I think we could do with some sort of box around each post if that's possible. At the moment it's difficult to see where one post finishes and the next begins. The only other thing I've noticed so far is that the HNet banner only seems to go about 3/4 of the way across the screen. Everything else looks good. Thanks, MM.
  12. I've watched both of them, but can't say that I particularly enjoyed either of them. I was initially happy when I heard they were making a movie, but I wish they'd stayed closer to the series regarding character traits and storyline. I still refuse to watch the 2017 CHiPs movie because that seems even further from the series upon which it's based. To answer your question, you're free to like what you want. It doesn't make you less of a fan.
  13. And Jason's stepfather, Ernie Lively, was also in 'One Armed Bandits' as Dobro Doolan (he was credited as Ernie Brown). He later came back as Longstreet B. Davenport and Clyde the Guard.
  14. We'd prefer to steer people towards legitimate ways of viewing the show. When DaisyDukes posted this request in 2005, the region 1 DVD release of season 7 was still over a year away (and three years away for us region 2 viewers in Europe). You can now pick up the complete DVD box set of all seven seasons on sites like eBay for under $50, and it looks like Amazon Prime customers can watch Dukes for free with commercials. It really doesn't cost much to watch Dukes legally!
  15. I can't agree with you there, Skipper. Although I've had the occasional defective DVD, the pros far outweigh the cons. DVD offers much better picture quality, a lot more convenience for accessing scenes, and you don't have to rewind them! Besides that, there's the sheer bulk of VHS tapes. My complete Dukes DVD collection takes up about six inches of shelf space - on VHS it would take up about four feet.
  16. Kerry Dale Earnhardt is the half-brother of Dale Earnhardt Jr. He's just under five years older than Jr.
  17. Christine Belford, who played Arnie's mom in the movie, was in an episode on 'CHiPs' about three years earlier. Her character was married to a persistent drunk driver who ultimately ended up killing her in a crash. The reason I was reminded of this is that the guy who played her husband in 'CHiPs', Joshua Bryant, appeared in three episodes of 'M*A*S*H' as Margaret's occasional love interest Jack Scully, and I've seen two of those episodes in the past week. BTW. Christine Belford had long, dark hair in 'CHiPs', which she wore tied up - quite a contrast to the shorter blonde curls she had in 'Christine'.

    NASCAR news

Small F1 hijack: Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton who equalled Michael Schumacher's record of 91 wins today. There's no recent news on Michael's condition following his skiing accident in 2013, but his son Mick presented Lewis with one of Michael's old helmets after the race. Mick is also a racer, and was due to drive an F1 car in one of the practice sessions on Friday, but they were called off due to bad weather. Hopefully he'll get a go at one of the remaining races.
  19. From what I've read, it actually was a 1970 model as very few convertibles were made in 1971 (and even fewer with a Hemi). The studio produced six 1970 cars for the show with 1971 front and rear ends, but none had Hemis..
  20. Sorry, Roth, I missed your previous post when I wrote that reply. Is there any chance that you could re-upload your pictures?
  21. Don Johnson played (Insp.) Nash Bridges, but Cheech Marin was Insp. Joe Dominguez in all but two episodes.
  22. I don't think I've seen Nash Bridges since the late-90s. I seem to remember it being shown quite late at night (something like 11pm) during the week over here, so I didn't get to watch it every week. I'm sure I enjoyed it at the time, but my only memory of the series is the rather nice Plymouth convertible driven by Don Johnson.
  23. After watching my way through 'CHiPs' recently, it's interesting to compare the use of firearms. 'CHiPs' certainly wasn't without humor, but the tone was generally more serious than Dukes due to its focus being on law enforcement issues. Despite this, Barry Baricza was the only officer to draw a firearm in all six seasons (he did it on three occasions). By contrast, firearms and gunfire are quite common in Dukes, even though a couple of the lead characters being banned from using guns. My observation is by someone from a country where gun ownership is very rare, so maybe no one else noticed.
  24. Well, in 'The Dukes in Hollywood', Rosco did suggest that he should be played by Burt Reynolds in 'The J.D. Hogg Story' (with Boss suggesting Robert Redford for the lead). In real life, Burt Reynolds was a student at James Best's acting school, so he would've had a good teacher for the part . Of course, M. C. Gainey appeared as Peters in 'Bad Day in Hazzard'. I think that makes him the only one of the main actors of the 2005 movie who was in the original series.
  25. I've never read the book, but I have the movie in my DVD collection, the soundtrack in my CD collection and the 1:18 model in my diecast collection (I may even have a cheap replica license plate too!). Having said that, it must've been a few years since I watched Christine. I included three of the cars from the movie in my Famous Movie and TV Cars fan art thread.
