Daisy's '71 Plymouth Satellite -- FINISHED!
HossC replied to Andrew D Charger Chaser's topic in Hobbies
Beautiful - just make sure you don't take it near any cliffs! -
I can't beat that (I don't think I've ever seen one in real life), but I was in London 18 years ago when the last three Concordes flew into Heathrow one after another. Even at the end, a single Concorde would still get attention, so you can image how special it was to see three.

Thanks for the extra pictures, Andrew. The Tomcat is one of my favorites too, along with the A-10 'Warthog' Thunderbolt and Russiam Mil Mi-24 Helicopter.
-
Well, there was that terribly racist episode where they made fun of the visiting Englishman, but apparently "we all can't be perfect"!

You'd be best off using an image hosting site and then linking your images. This means that you upload your pictures to another site, and that site provides you with a simple line of code to paste into your post on HNet. I pay for image hosting, and while the site I use does have free accounts with a limit of 250 images (a low number compared to rivals), and they've been more reliable of late, I can't recommend them. I only stay because the thought of moving around 12,000 images is too much for me! I hope I haven't made the process sound too difficult. Each site will do things slightly differently, but once you're setup, they make things pretty easy.

I don't know why it's so hard to get the wheels on Daisy's car right, although I have to admit that I put the wrong wheels on my first attempt at drawing it in the Fan Art forum (I used a lot more reference photos for my later efforts to get them closer to the on-screen vehicles). I did eventually update my artwork (below), and while my stripe might not be quite as accurate as yours, we're not a million miles apart. For some reason, even the 1:18 diecast version (below) released a few years ago came with the wrong wheels despite the manufacturer having the correct wheels on other models. I commented on this in the Dukes of Hazzard Diecast Models forum. Great work as always with your model, Andrew. I've been keenly following the build, and look forward to seeing you final photos. BTW. Do I spy some F-14 Tomcats in your airplane collection? I think I built a model kit of one about 35 years ago, but it wouldn't have looked as good as yours, and I've no idea what happened to it.

If it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't have understood this joke that I saw earlier. I assume there's room for five passengers!

Jelly (or jam as we call it!) By coincidence, I'm watching my way through my 'Cheers' boxset at the moment, and thought I recognized one of the guest stars towards the end of season 4. Turns out it was Max Wright, aka. Willie Tanner in ALF.
-
You're probably thinking of Andrea Elson who played Lynn Tanner in the show. She also played Alice Tyler in the short-lived series 'Whiz Kids' a couple of years earlier.
-
Alien I had to Google it - I haven't seen the show since the '80s, and had completely forgotten his full name!
-
Belated birthday wishes from me too, Spike. Apart from the non-functioning Fitbits, it sounds like you had a good day.

It feels like F1 is moving away from this sort of controversial/arbitrary rule enforcement. Hopefully they've realized how badly it goes over with the fans!
-
Good song, and not one that I was familiar with. BTW. I've replaced the missing Diet Coke video.
-
I shouldn't have been surprised that Weird Al included Gilligan's Island theme lyrics in a song - seven years earlier he parodied Tone-Loc's 'Wild Thing' with a song about the show called 'Isle Thing'.
-
The actor was William Smith. He played Clint Eastwood's opponent, Jack Wilson, in 'Any Which Way You Can'. The movie came out a year before '10 Million Dollar Sheriff'.
-
Having never seen Gilligan's Island, I didn't realize that Weird Al borrowed the following lines from the theme tune for his song Amish Paradise. There's no phone, no lights, no motorcar Not a single luxury Like Robinson Crusoe It's as primitive as can be

I tried looking at the solar eclipse using a colander, but I ended up straining my eyes...
-
Happy birthday (for yesterday), Skipper.

For anyone not familiar with the Jensen Interceptor, Top Gear made a spoof '70s show called 'The Interceptors' a few years ago, and each of them drove an Interceptor. The title sequence is below. I notice that the bikini model at 0:19 has to put her legs between the front seats, so it looks like you're right about the rear legroom . (For some reason the still image makes it look like the video has been deleted, but the play button works)

They're a rare sight nowadays, but I have seen a few over the years, although I've never sat in one. I seem to remember that they came with a 6.3l Chrysler V8, so they're not 100% British .

I think it would be fair to say that Lance Stroll and Max Verstappen each suffered a horrendous crash in Baku. Rear tire punctures caused them to crash on the straight at around 180 and 200 mph respectively. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton's mistake at the late restart ended his 54-race streak of top-10 finishes.

Here you go, Roger: Their first show is tomorrow (June 5th) at Beckley Motorsports Park, WV with a chance to meet Byron Cherry. For August 13th-15th they'll be at the 40th Annual Mopar Nationals at the National Trail Raceway, Columbus, OH. Tom and Cathy will be at this one. The last show they currently have listed is August 22nd at the Upper Peninsula State Fair, MI. Full details at www.northeastohiodukes.net.
