  6. Well, to borrow an archery term, Roger was nearest the bull with this one. The boys were offered $200 to drive the semi, but the repairs were only $180. Q. In 'Double Sting', Jesse is worried about making his mortgage payment. Who did Boss Hogg buy Jesse's mortgage from?.
  7. Lady Godiva was a English noblewoman who lived between 1040 and 1080. She tried repeatedly to persuade her husband to reduce the high taxes he imposed on the people in the City of Coventry. He said that he would if she rode through the streets naked. After instructing everyone to stay indoors with their windows shut, she performed her infamous naked ride. Only one person disobeyed the request not to look - a tailor who has forever after been known as 'Peeping Tom'. (Vaguely remembered from history lessons, details filled in by Wikipedia ) Following my previous post I found this (apologies to texasdaisy):
  8. Hi Roger, only just seen your message. I usually check for new posts every couple of hours during the day because not much posting goes on during my daytime. I was surprised to see you posting at Midday my time. You're still only allowed to vote once a day in that game though :).

  18. I can just hear him saying that in a Rosco way. Thanks for the great pics MaryAnne. There are some wonderful lines in these shows, and the charges Andy makes up to arrest Fleet could easily have been made up by Boss to arrest the Duke boys. There were other things that reminded me of Dukes too. I could imagine Enos saying some of the deputy's lines, and the mayor is a chubby man with a white cowboy hat. The way Jim (Jimmie) eats his food in the prison cell was quite Boss-like as well. If I hadn't checked the cast list, I would never have recognized a 6 year old Ronnie Howard, or have remembered that I recognized the deputy (Don Knotts) from 'Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo'. The second episode with Jimmie is here: The Andy Griffith Show (S1E31) - "The Guitar Player Returns" Definitely recommended viewing for anyone who hasn't seen it.
  19. This must be some kind of coincidence. I was watching a TV this morning, the show I was watching finished, and I didn't get to the remote before the next show started. It turned out to be Ride Lonesome, a 1959 western (in color) starring Jimmie along with Randolph Scott, James Coburn and Lee Van Cleef. Not many Rosco traits in this one, but still good to see Jimmie 20 years before Dukes.
