Well, I said that I wouldn't bother reporting on F1 until someone other than Max Verstappen won, and it looked like that would continue at Miami. Max took pole in the sprint race and the main race and won the sprint, but things didn't go his way in the main race. At just over 1/3 distance, Max made a rare mistake, missed a chicane and ran over a bollard which caused a bit of damage to his car. A few laps later, local driver Logan Sargeant collided with the Haas of Kevin Magnussen to bring out the safety car. Max had already pitted for tires, so Mclaren's Lando Norris was able to pit under the safety car and stay in first place. With Max unable to catch him, Lando went on to his first win in F1 after 110 races (he's finished in the top three 15 times). Behind Lando and Max were the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr in third and fifth, Max's Red Bull team mate Sergio Perez in fourth and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton in sixth. You can see the race highlights here.

He came to fame in the UK when he starred in a very gritty 1982 drama series called 'Boys from the Blackstuff' which followed five unemployed men looking for work. 'Titanic' and 'The Lord of the Rings' are probably the works he's best known for outside of the UK.

My wife threatened to leave me if I didn't stop making Star Wars puns. I guess divorce is strong with this one...

Blue A small history was created for their character: he was a former Texas ranger but one who now worked alone. Hence his moniker—the Lone Ranger. - www.loc.gov

The Hazzard Square thread that I started lists most of the California locations. Back then, there were several guides to the Georgia locations already online. I'm not sure how many of them are still available. -
Karis is the biological daughter of John Schneider and Elly Castle (Elly already had three children when they got together). She was in John's movie 'Collier & Co.'. She'll be in her late-20s now.

In F1, it was the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend. I'll start writing reports again when someone other than Max Verstappen wins a race! The next one is in Miami in two weeks' time.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I was watching 'The Naked Gun" last night as a sort of tribute to OJ Simpson when I spotted a familiar face. When Frank Drebin goes to visit Nordberg in hospital, the nurse at reception is played by Doris Hess. Doris played Emery Potter's long-time girlfriend/wife Mabel Wooster in "People's Choice".

Si ROSE It depends which episode you're watching. It was "Mount Paran Road" in 'Gold Fever' and "Mount Paron Road" in 'New Deputy in Town'.

I think you'll find that it's xenophobic, Hobie. ZERO for spelling!

I didn't bother writing a report for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix two weeks ago because although there were a few good fights down the field, it finished as another Red Bull 1-2. I will give a special mention to Oliver Bearman who was a last minute stand-in for Ferrari and finished seventh in his first ever grand prix at just 18 years old. Today's race was the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. Max Verstappen claimed another pole, but was overtaken Ferrari's Carlos Sainz on the second lap. Max suffered a rare technical failure two laps later and had to retire his Red Bull when one of his rear brakes caught fire. Lewis Hamilton also retired at nearly one third distance when his Mercedes engine failed. His team mate George Russell crashed on the last lap leaving Mercedes pointless in Australia. Carlos Sainz went on to win the race with his team mate Charles Leclerc in second, followed by the McLarens of Lando Norris and local hero Oscar Piastri in third and fourth. Sergio Perez could only manage fifth in the second Red Bull. Carlos Sainz's victory was even more impressive because he missed the last race with appendicitis.

Jaws I would've said card sharp, but apparently both are correct!

Apparently we do, although I don't have anything but the free TV channels and an extensive DVD collection.

Can I point out that this is the Hazzard Square thread which lists filming locations. I don't know why it's being used to discuss other issues when there are places for that elsewhere on HNet.

That's not the Good Ol' Boys, that's the Good Old Song:

I wasn't familiar with 'Drift Away', but found that I had it on a compilation album. It's very different to 'The "In" Crowd', but I liked it. Here's Waylon's version:

There's been a Gordon Bennett race here in Ireland since 1903 - see here. There's a memorial to the race by the R418 a few miles north-east of Athy in Co. Kildare. I drove past it two weeks ago, but I've never stopped to look at it. You can read more here. -
This is the only Dobie Gray song I know. I like it, but can't call myself a fan if I don't know any others.

Well it wasn't me.
