  1. Got 'em! I appreciate those of you who are sending PMs when you see spammers. It really helps us crack down on them quickly.
  2. Yeah, I heard about that. He composed music for many of my favorite shows. In fact, he's the one whistling in the Andy Griffith Show theme song. Another Hollywood music legend died recently too, Alexander Courage. He was probably most known for the Star Trek themes.
  3. The spammer has been cuffed n' stuffed!
  4. Sorry to hear about that. My husband's going through the same type of situation too. He had a bad work environment and wanted to leave on his own terms, but there was so little work for his department that they beat him to the punch and laid him off. Hopefully you'll find something better soon. Good luck!
  5. Welcome to HazzardNet, Jeremy! Thank you for serving our country. I, too, work for an undisclosed military contractor. Sounds like you'll fit in just fine here! Nel
  6. I'm very proud of sitting around. Some of my most productive times are when I'm sitting around. Or laying around, as the case may currently be.
  7. HazzardNet has its own MySpace page that's been up for a while: http://www.myspace.com/hazzardnet I haven't done much with it, so if y'all have any suggestions, let me know!
  8. That's a great idea. I used to do that with friends. We should definitely try that here.
  9. That shot with four arrows through the four lifesavers was AMAZING! Then again, I'd be impressed if he hit just one. ROFL.
  10. Great, now I'm gonna have My Sweet Annette stuck in my head all night. Khee! I checked out State Line Mob on iTunes and they're pretty good.
  11. You can add me to the list of fans who were disappointed to see this piece of Dukes of Hazzard history destroyed. No, not restored... destroyed. The condition it was in when found is what made it unique and historic. I personally believe it should've been kept as is. I may have different feelings if it LOOKED like a General to begin with and if the restoration was done well and kept a great deal of the original car, but that wasn't the case here.
  12. Awww, shucks, Roger. LOL. I can give ya some history on HazzardNet, but it'd be more like a saga than a short story. LOL. Lessee here... A long time ago, in a galaxy far away... err, wrong saga... hold on... Oh yes, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy back around '93 there was this little internet service called Prodigy. They had bulletin boards and all sorts of other amusements and I would participate in discussions about some of my favorite tv shows. I met a few folks in the DOH fandom through those boards and thought this whole internet thang was kind of cool. Prodigy also had a cool little software program, I think it was called Hippy, that let you create your own web site on the Prodigy service. Well, around about 1995 or so, I put together a site dedicated to the Hazzard County Sheriff's Department. It was called.... The Hazzard County Sheriff's Department. Real original, huh? LOL. Cousin Don provided a lot of the photos for it. The site really took off. I was getting 300-400 emails a week, including some from a talented fanfic writer who had a cool new character named MaryAnne Coltrane. Khee! I let her post her stories in the Bookin' Room section of the site (bookin'... readin'.. hahah.. get it?) and she started helping me with content for the site. Another Rosco fan with the handle of HazzardOne started sending me sound files to use on the site and gave me ideas for several sections of the website. The HCSD had a "Hazzard's Most Wanted" section where folks could sign up and put their "criminal profiles". LOL. We had a Lost and Found section, I forget exactly what that was for, but I think it was for memorabilia. We had the Impound, where folks could post pictures of their General Lee and Patrol Car replicas or even just their car that they were proud of. We might've been the first site to actually post pics of Dukes of Hazzard replicas on the Internet. There were only three other DOH sites online at the time, Gary's, Ray's, and Eric's. I don't think any of them are still online. Anyway, we also had the Hot Pursuit section with pics of Rosco n' his deputies pursuin' them Dukes on all sorts of vee-hicles (trikes, horses, bicycles, LOL) and the Undercover section with pictures of Boss n' Rosco in some of their in-cog-nito disguises. We had the Villain section where we posted pics of the likes of Cassius Claybourne and other baddies. We also had the APB section for "breaking news". LOL. We used Yahoo Groups for much of our "forums" type discussion. I'm sure a lot of those discussions are still online somewhere, but for the most part they've been abandoned in favor of HNet's forums. Most of the veterans you see on HazzardNet I met through the HCSD site. 'Round about early 1999, I decided to do a more general Dukes of Hazzard website instead of focusing on just the sheriff's department. We used a lot of the content from HCSD to create HazzardNet and I had lots of great help from MaryAnne and others. In late 1999, MaryAnne introduced me to Brian. We became fast friends and probably not too long after, Brian started helping us with content for the site. Brian's come up with a lot of great ideas and basically handles all media contacts when journalists n' such contact us for info. Now, you'll probably see that a lot of the forum veterans have join dates of around 2001. That's because our forums went kablooey at one point and we started over from scratch. LOL. Durn hackers. Rosco wanted to cuff 'em n' stuff 'em. Where was I? Oh yeah... the site has kind of evolved over the years and taken on a life of its own. There've been good times n' bad times, but through it all, my good buddies MaryAnne n' Brian have helped me hold it all together. We've probably been the oldest and longest continuous Dukes of Hazzard fan presence on the Internet and that's kind of cool to think about. We like to call it CyberHazzard. I think Brian coined that term. I could go into a lot more detail about how we got to meet the cast and a lot of other cool stuff that HazzardNet and the HCSD has allowed us to do, but HazzardNet is really about the folks... all the fans that come here to this little community and interact. So, was that brief enough? LOL.
  13. Tim, don't let the comments of one person get you that upset. At the core, we're all the same, Dukes fans! Now, I've got a question that probably nobody knows the answer to right now, but here goes... I know the cast individually decides what to charge for photos, but I think for the most part they've all kept their prices about the same, i.e. a black and white autographed photo will cost about the same at one table as it does at the other. I think at one DukesFest Ben may have even requested they have set prices. So, my question is... is Adam West going to bring his prices in line with the other cast or will folks have to pay 2 to 3 times as much for a non-Dukes autographed photo from him at a Dukes event??? Seems kind of unfair for him to possibly make more money at DukesFest than the actual cast does!
  14. Great post, Roger. I completely agree with all of it. And yes, let's get this discussion back to the original issue at hand, Adam West being at DukesFest. (Pssst... Roger, don't tell anybody else, but I think Marines are better too. My grandfather was a Marine and served on Iwo Jima during WWII.)
  15. I think Brian clearly stated that this isn't about the car owners. It's about communication and perception. We have a lot of respect for the car owners and DukesFest is about ALL fans. There's no need to turn this into a big Us vs. Them brewhaha. And I don't think a poll will do a whole lot of good. Most fans don't have replicas and they'd probably still go just to meet the cast and other fellow DOH enthusiasts. So, if you're expecting for the poll to tell you that the cars ARE DukesFest, you may be disappointed. The cars are integral, they're appreciated, and they're important, but so are the people... just as it was on the show.
  16. Just because it's Elly's and John's decision doesn't mean folks can't or shouldn't complain about it. I recall several times fans complained about situations at past DukesFests and got plenty of things changed in future ones.
  17. Howdy, all! I did an upgrade of the forums tonight. If you notice any weirdness (in terms of software behavior, that is), please report it to us so we can investigate and fix it. Thanks! Nel
  18. Please don't give Brian any reason to start flashing in front of cameras... There are some things that are better left a mystery.
  19. BAHAHAHA! I guess I should admit that I'm writing a book too. It's titled "I Don't Know Why I Put Up With Those Two: Surviving Life in the Coltrane Clan".
  20. If I had a dollar for every time one of Brian's jokes fell flat, my mortgage would be paid off.
  21. After which, I'm sure MaryAnne and I will be filing lawsuits.
  22. Bri, MaryAnne, and I... Well, we're like family. And like any family we have our spats, but we rarely do any real harm and if we do, we apologize and forgive n' forget. I can't imagine us not bein' family, even as dysfunctional as we sometimes are. We've been through a lot together, most of which a lot of you guys will never know. We have a great bond and HazzardNet is sorta our home, if you will, where the vast distances between our geographical locations in real life disappears. And we hope that feeling of family permeates this site, so you guys feel it too.
  23. Brian wrote it. But don't compliment him too much or he'll get a swelled head. We all know he doesn't need that. LOL.
