Sounds like you're having as much fun as I've had with the HazzardNet server the past week, Rog. I think I FINALLY have all the problems ironed out (she said hopefully). At the very least, I've stopped getting emails every few hours saying that the server's down, up, down, up, down.... (Fingers crossed.) It took me forever to figure out what was going on because there were multiple problems, including a site of my sister's that had been hacked and used to send spam. Ugh. I spent a LOT of time deleting spam and bounced emails.... on the order of 100,000 of them. I have upgraded, updated, hardened, secured, and done everything else you can think of to the server this week. Hopefully, it'll be stable for a while. Computers... you can't live with them, you can't toss them out the window because eventually you'll need them again for something and they're too expensive to replace too often.

It's just another reminder of how much evil there is in the world. Honestly, we don't need any more reminders. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

Once you've had a chance to look around the new forums, please leave feedback here. I've already gotten some feedback and am trying some small changes here and there as well as finishing up the customization of the theme. Also, if you find any bugs or issues with color (I already know about the white background on quoted text), please post about that here as well.

The forum upgrade is complete. Now, there's just the matter of tweaking the colors a bit more, as some backgrounds are white, making the text unreadable. I will get to that later today. Right now, however, I'm going to bed, as I pulled an all-nighter on this. If you encounter any bugs other than something to do with the colors/layout of the site (i.e. posting, logging in, PMing, etc), please PM or email me.

Ok, forum software upgrade has been purchased. Found a $25 off coupon too. Yay! Still, it was pricey. Fortunately, though, I don't think I'll have to purchase another upgrade for quite some time. You're in my thoughts and prayers, CD. Don't feel bad about wanting him not to suffer. It's only natural to feel that way about someone you love. My grandmother, unfortunately, had alzheimer's for many years and was in very poor health. At the end, it was almost a relief, really, because it was just so hard for both her and us for her not to remember anyone or anything and to be in poor health for so long. No matter what happens, know that you have people who support you and will be there for you. *hugs*

I'm planning on upgrading the forum in mid-April. I'll post announcements as the time nears and I have a more definite date.

True story. When my sister brought her boyfriend over to meet our parents for the first time, my dad had just gotten home from dove hunting and was cleaning his shotgun on the front porch. LOL! He didn't intend for that to be his first impression, but it was accidentally. At any rate, the boyfriend stuck around and my sister ended up marrying him.

An update on the forum upgrade... One of the new features is the ability to login via your Facebook account. Obviously, this won't affect those of you without Facebook accounts. You can login like you normally do. However, I posted a poll on our FB page asking if would make people more likely to post on our forums if they had to the option to login via Facebook. So far, it looks like a big yes. So, the new forum upgrade could potentially liven up the forums quite a bit. So far, four people have contributed to our forum upgrade. Thanks! I will be putting together a special thank you page for them. If you can spare a few dollars and would like to chip in, there is a ChipIn widget near the top of the homepage where you can contribute via PayPal. I expect the forum upgrade will happen around end of March/early April. I am following the development of version 5 of the software and will soon make a decision whether to intermediately upgrade to 4 and then upgrade to 5 when it looks ready or whether to just go with version 5. The upgrade purchase entitles HNet to both versions.
