    Hazzard Square

The trio correctly identified the square as the filming location of 'The Music Man' and 'The Gilmore Girls' (both already mentioned in this thread), and then Cathy says "and then didn't they film, um, Opie, uh, what's that, not Happy Days, um ...". She never finished the sentence and never mentioned Andy Griffiths, but it's fair to assume that that's what she was referring to as Ron Howard's character was Opie Taylor (and he was in 'Happy Days'). Exteriors for "The Andy Griffith Show" were mainly filmed at the RKO 40 Acres/Desilu backlot in Culver City, about 45 minutes south of the Warner Bros' backlot. I can't find any evidence of Andy Griffith filming in Burbank. The video below shows what's now standing where the backlots were, and mentions several other shows and movies that were filmed there. It also shows the former Desilu Studios in Hollywood. There's a brief Dukes tie-in at around 12:32 when they show a still of James Best from the 1959 movie 'Verboten!'.

  3. All right. Garrett is in. It wouldn't be a Moonshine 400 without Garrett. If we don't get confirmation from MM we are just putting her in Rosco's patrol car and we'll put Hoss in an orange F1 car.

  5. Rosco was a baaaaaaaaaaaad influence on me.

  6. True. I don't trust Meadowmufn. She's just too good of friends with the Sheriff. Speaking of which, I wonder if Rosco is going to let her drive his car in the Moonshine 400. If she does, ignore the siren. She will probably use it to trick us into slowing down.

    Hee Haw!

Anyone on here remember the show Hee Haw? Presented by Buck Owens & Roy Clarke, and featuring a great variety cast and awesome sketch comedy. Back in the good old days when the whole family could gather round the television.. I may just be 23, but discovering the show on YouTube and then finding a channel that airs reruns in Canada really got me onto it!

There was definitely more overtaking this week at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The McLarens were quickest in practice, and Oscar Piastri put his on pole for the race. Lando Norris wasn't as comfortable in his McLaren and only qualified sixth. Max Verstappen was also unhappy with his Red Bull and started seventh. Oscar led the whole race to take his fourth F1 victory. George Russell got his Mercedes up to second at the start and managed to keep the place until the end, although at the moment he's under investigation for a technical infringement. Despite at 5-second penalty for being out of position on the grid, Lando moved up from sixth to finish third. He was followed home by the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. Ferrari had an upgraded car this weekend, but Charles said it wouldn't show much improvement in this race due to the nature of the track. Max got past the Alpine of a fast Pierre Gasly on the last lap. Haas got both of their cars home in the top ten with Esteban Ocon in eighth and Oliver Bearman in tenth. Between them in ninth was Yuki Tsunoda in the second red Bull. The race highlights are here. Only a week until the next race in Saudi Arabia.

  22. Well, it's racing time here in Hazzard, but of course it's ALWAYS racing time in Hazzard Co. The Moonshine Mauler is the favored winner this year, because of it's super charged engine and Hobie is the driver! There ARE some other racers though, who plan to give Hartkins a run for his money!
    2 points
  23. Let's all remember, it's the MoonShine 400 ( not like Daytona 500, Charlotte 500 etc. ) because we who started the race, can't stay sober long enough to make 500 laps! It's ok though. We have a lot of fun racing people we know and it's mainly a Hazzard County thing, so we don't have to worry about outsiders crashing the party!! I hope everyone has had a great day. Remember, it's DOH day!! * * Happy DOHD everybody! ( Fridays are always Dukes Of Hazzard Day!)

I heard John Schneider on the General's P.A. system, driving through town, a few years ago. This guy here in Sparta owns a General and they seem to be buddies!

  26. Uncle Jesse and Daisy were following behind in Dixie. Jesse saw what was going on and got on the CB. "Now boys, you have two witnesses back here that you weren't speeding. Now, don't git any ideas and take off. If his lights go on just pull on over and I'll take care of 'ol Rosco."
    2 points
  27. Okay but it has to have wheels. You pulling it with something? That's 3. If other people don't enter we should enter them anyways and then to punish them for not participating we'll just give them flat tires early in the race!

    NASCAR news

In yesterday's race, Lando Norris got a good start from second and challenged for the lead off the line, but had to go wide at the second corner a dropped back to sixth. Kimi Antonelli got up to second and also briefly challenged Max Verstappen for the lead. He held the place for a few laps before being passed by Oscar Piastri. Oscar then went on to take the lead at the start of lap 14. It took Lando a few more laps, but he also passed Max to take second. There were a couple of virtual safety cars for blown engines, and one of them let George Russell pit and get out ahead of Max. Behind them, Lewis Hamilton gave some very sarcastic team radio messages when his Ferrari team were slow to respond to his request to swap track position with his team mate Charles Leclerc. First he asked if they'd finished their tea break, then when he had to let Charles back in front he was given the gap to the car behind and he asked if they wanted him to let them past as well. By the end, the two McLarens had a lead of over 30 seconds ahead of George and Max in third and fourth. Williams seem to be having a resurgence (they were always one of the top teams when I started watching F1, but haven't done so well in recent years) with Alex Albon in fifth and Carlos Sainz Jr in ninth after challenging Lewis on the final lap. Oscar's third win in a row is the first time a McLaren driver has achieved that for over 25 years. You can see the race highlights here. Oscar now leads Lando by 16 points with Max another 16 back. In the Constructors' Championship, McLaren have a huge lead because Red Bull still can't get a team mate for Max who can score good points. There's now a week's break before a triple-header in Europe starting at Imola. News just breaking: The Alpine team look like they're replacing Australian rookie driver Jack Doohan with Argentinian Franco Colapinto after just six races. Jack has had mixed form so far this year with a couple of heavy crashes. Franco drove nine races for Williams last year, but also had mixed results.

  29. LOL! That's great! I can't say much about Meadow though....she's a FINE young lady.....!!! .....although she does need to be careful about hanging out with Rosco! You know what mama always said, you're a reflection of the company you keep!

  31. I'm guessing we are going to have a pretty diverse group of race vehicles.....just like Mario Kart. I love that game. Sorry I'm out of reactions Hobie or I'd be giving you lots of likes.

Dirt bikes, cars, ....whatever....This IS Hazzard County.....they do things different here! * * Another example of nobody has to explain anything to anybody around here! Everybody knows the quote I'm referring to ....!! ( This is ONE of the qualities that makes Hazzard so great!)

Just had a fun idea. Start a Moonshine 400 thread. It can be like Mario Kart and you can make any imaginary vehicle you want. Then after everyone has a vehicle in place we'll take turn posting race action, one post at a time.....like a role play. It will be total chaos....just like Hazzard County. I'll start it if you don't want to.

    A-Z Game

The General was always portrayed as a '69 Charger (denoted by the grille and tail lights), but both '68 and '69 Chargers were used, and the junkyard owner in 'Happy Birthday, General Lee' mistakenly referred to the car that became the General as a "black '68 coupe".

  48. Wow! Good for him. Everybody has different tastes in different episodes but we all share the common bond of loving the Dukes so much and that's all that matters. Just the thought of Bo and Luke being dead caused me to be a little down on that episode. I guess I was just too emotionally attached to them at the time that ep aired. It was painful to see the pain of the folks who thought they were dead. I also didn't like eps where Bo and Luke fought each other (even if it was just words). Even though you know they'll be fine at the end it just isn't as fun as fighting with Boss, Rosco and the bad guys who are in town for one ep.

  50. I think Jimmie's and Denver's scenes together in "Ghost" really had an impact. Larry Franks (DukesCollector.com) called it in the first round.
