The actor is Burton Gilliam - his other Dukes appearance was as Tom Colt in 'Double Sting' (minus the mustache). Maintaining the "Colt" connection, he played the Colt gun salesman in 'Back to the Future III'. You may also know him from 'Blazing Saddles' or classic 80s shows like 'Knight Rider', 'The A-Team' or 'The Fall Guy'.
Or the Irishman who's always bouncing off the walls? Rick O’Shea!
There's actually an Irish radio personality who goes by the pseudonym Rick O'Shea, which reminds me that there's a radio DJ from near here who now works in the UK who uses the name Robin Banks.
I always thought the name " Heep" was a funny sounding name! Burton Glliam ( I 'm not sure how to spell his last name) played several times in the series and never seemed to be type cast! Heep.....his Irish counterpart would be called, " Heep O' Trouble! ( How's that one Hoss? ) Kind of like , What's Irish and sits on the back porch all night long?...........Patio Furniture!!
With nothing good on TV last night, I decided to watch 'Blazing Saddles' again. I'd forgotten that Burton Gilliam had one of the lead parts and featured in a DVD extra documentary. Here he is in the movie. It's one of the screengrabs I posted in the Hazzard Square thread, because they used the Warner Brothers Western set which was next to Midwest Street at the time - see all the pictures here.
After Rosco deputizes Bo and Luke in 'Deputy Dukes' and promises that they'd be the only three to know...
Rosco: "I gave you my word, didn't I?"
Balladeer: "Now, about Rosco's word. He has to have somebody else call his dogs...because they don't even believe him anymore."
Has anybody ever heard that saying after April Fool's day, when someone plays a trick on you and then says, " April Fools!", then the person tricked says, " April fools done passed...you're the biggest fool that will ever last!" I just remembered this from childhood!
Did any of you guys see that unholy wreck?? It just happened a few minutes ago! I'm trying to figure out who the dipsh...sorry...who that dip stick was that started it! Who started that mess???
I'd ride shot gun with you but you'd probably get mad at me if I spilled my buttermilk on your seat.....even if it was your fault for going too fast on the curves.
Meadowmufn is pretty famous....at least amongst the Dukes fans of the world. Nobody else in the world has even come close to accomplishing what the HazzardNet has.

I don't remember Sanford & Son being shown in the UK. I think I only became aware of it about 10 years ago. I've just watched a couple of episodes, and while the end credits do mention Steptoe & Son, it's a very different show. Here's one of the highest rated episodes (according to IMDb) of Steptoe & Son (the cinema frame must be for copyright reasons):
If anybody in the parade had a strong (or even weak) tie to the Dukes I would have made the effort to find out about autographs. The next time I go down I want to go to Cooter's. I just found out that it is only an hour away from my daughter.
