Anybody hear about Danica crashing in her last race before retirement? I wonder though. She was driving a Formula One car and she's always driven a NASCAR ride....what's up with that?

Well y'all...they finally did it! Yahoo has finally opened up their fantasy NASCAR up...and guess who already made their league? I DID! I am super excited for the season to start...if you can't tell. Well y'all it is that time of year again. Last night was NASCAR's Sprint Unlimited race...the pre season race that kicks off speed weeks. The race was accident filled that had started off with Brad Keselowski's accident when Kyle Larson went up the track and got into him. Later Greg Biffle got into the back of Jamie McMurray which collected Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne and a few others. Later Greg Biffle got in another accident with Kevin Harvick got collected in a big accidents, Biffle hitting the wall hard. Matt Kenseth went on to win the race. After the race, Joey Logano got mad at Kevin Harvick and displayed his displeasure afterwards by bumping into him…

I will posting the NASCAR Sprint Cup Point standings on this thread...as the title suggests. I will most likely do it on Monday or Tuesday seeing how NASCAR makes the point standings official on Monday...they do post them after the race, but they are unofficial. Just a small summary for the points. A driver can earn up to 48 points in a single race. They gain a point for each position that they gain...there is 43 drivers that start every race. The winning car will get 43 points, the last car will get one point. Then you can get a point for leading a lap, a point for leading the most laps...and the driver who won the race earns three extra points. There is 36 point rac…

I come on here with a heavy heart, a saddened heart, to let you know that NASCAR driver Jason Leffler died yesterday at the age of 37. As of right now, not a whole lot is coming out about what happened other than that he was at a heat race in a 410 Sprint Car event at Bridgeport Speedway when his engine blew and he rolled three times. "Jason Leffler Remembered as a Friend, teammate, father" My thoughts and prayers goes out for Jason, his son, his family, his friends...Jason will be missed on and off the track.

NASCAR and the entire world of racing has lost a legend as Dick Trickle died yesterday (May 16, 2013) of an apparent suicide as his body was found lying next to his truck at the cemetery where his granddaughter is buried. Trickle is a Wisconsin native where he raced short track (believed to have raced UP to a thousand races!) before moving onto North Carolina and to NASCAR. He was made rookie of the year in NASCAR at the age of 48...raced 303 NASCAR Cup races and yet the best finish he has gotten in NASCAR was third place. Well the Nationwide Series raced at Daytona today and right before the checkered flag fell, a huge wreck forced Kyle Larson's car up into the fence. Injuring up to 28 fans...12 people getting rushed to the emergencey room...Tony Stewart went on to win the race. The accident There is a video and an article about the last lap accident...and that is one wicked wreck that left me in chills. Larson's engine was in the grandstand...his front part of his car was completely off. Glad to see him get out OK after that...he has to be shaken up and feel horrible about it. It's another Carl Edwards type wreck he had at Talledega. Just scary. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone…

Well the NASCAR season won't start for another 61 days . . . *SIGH*. . . and I for one am anxious for the arrival of speed weeks. Or better yet for Daytona 500...NASCAR's Super Bowl race. I just checked Yahoo's Fantasy Auto Racing (NASCAR) and they say that the season has concluded (sigh) but will reopen in early January. Only a week or so away! With the 2011 NASCAR season underway, I have signed up for a NASCAR fantasy team for the second time in a row. Well it may not be NASCAR and Jeff Gordon may not be in Indy, but did sit down and watched the Indianapolis 500 today and am glad I did. Anyone else watch it? If so, what you think? I thought it was exciting...but their late race restarts are just as crazy as they are in NASCAR. A lot of names were familiar to me. Richie Evans "King Of The Modifieds". This one driver holds special meaning to me. I watched him race locally growing up. He is the only hall of famer so far that hasn't raced at the Cup level. I grew up on Long Island and went to our local track "World Famous" Islip Speedway up until it closed in 1984. I only lived about 2 miles from the track. Modifieds and figure 8 racing were the main features. Modifieds especially. The Northeast and Long Island back in the 70s and 80s was "Modified Country". Well being as addicted to NASCAR that I am, I subscribe to NASCAR Illustrated and look forward to each and every magazine. (TRPColtrane you may be interested in this month's magazine - for January.
