Dukes of Hazzard News

Just want to share some upbeat stuff here. First of all, with all the Dukes stuff going on, it's hard to believe this is 2012 and not 1982! We got Tom Wopat and John Schneider making car show appearances, we got a pro golfer driving the General Lee to the Phoenix Open, we got country music star Dierks Bently telling a newspaper how he watched "The Dukes of Hazzard," and we got major retailers carrying new Dukes of Hazzard t-shirts. It looks like the British police have finally done what Boss and Rosco struggled with - they've caught the General Lee. The car in question was a replica which had broken down with gearbox trouble (I thought the General only got the vapors!). The police took the opportunity to make a couple of tweets, but admitted that the car was "fully road legal" and no offences had been committed. Full story at www.bbc.com.

I seen something in the newspaper about Waylon's family releasing some of his never before heard music sometime soon. Yes folks it's finally in stores! Dukes of Hazzard: Season One on DVD. I got my copy last night at my local K-mart. Since K-mart has it, I assume that your local Walmart, Target, Meijer or whatever retail chain you prefer to go to, has it for sale. I do know that K-mart had it priced at 29.99 in my area. I don't know what other chains are selling it for but that's the price I paid. I'd imagine that other stores would be in the range of a dollar to five dollars more or less. The Season one set is on two disks. Three eps. to a side of each disk. The case is very brightly colored. I haven't looked at all the features yet but I'll keep you posted on what I find. This is for those who will be in or near the United Kingdom early June: It's at the MK Dons Stadium, Milton Keynes, UK. (it's at this edition of Collectormania in 2005 that I met Cathy. Apparently for 5-7 June 2009, they have Tom Wopat 8) For more info, do a Google search to collectormania . com they have the info posted on their official site. Careful: DON'T get you hope up, there's always a good chance Tom could CANCEL AGAIN... In 2005, they announced John Schneider and Cathy Bach, but then John had to cancel... Luckily Cathy was still there.

Today is a very sad day in the horse world folks. As many of you probably saw on the news today, a young race horse named Barbaro was mercifully put down by choice of his owners after either long months of fighting to survive a terribly shattered leg. In 2006 this young bay colt won one of the greatest horse races in the world. The Kentucky Derby, he capatured the eye and hearts of horse lovers, young and old. Very sad to hear that Rick has passed away. I would have loved to meet him and get an autograph. He was only at Cooter's Place just this past Sunday. Rest in Peace Rick (Cletus) I hope you're with the rest of the Dukes cast that has gone over the rainbow bridge.

I'm not a Dancing With the Stars fan but my wife is. I've never even heard of most of the "stars" on there. Since my wife watches it I will sit on the couch occasionally with her. Last night was the finals and one of the songs they were playing was California Girls that mentions "Daisy Dukes" shorts. They then immediately went to a commercial and the commercial after that was one of Bo and Luke's AutoTrader commercials. I'm not a huge fan of those since the boys would never really trade the General but I am a huge fan of the Dukes still being a part of our culture. I have some news from Tom Sarmento. He has had many people asking him how they can show the Baxley family their expressions of sorrow over the loss of stunt coordinator Paul Baxley. The Baxley family will be having a memorial service later this month for Paul. Tom will be attending. He said that he wants to help the "Dukes" fans so this is what he has come up with. Tom thinks it best if people who want to do something send cards. That way each person can write whatever they personally want to say on the card. Then mail the card to him at his home address. He will personally hand deliver all the cards he receives by the end of next week (Saturday, March 19) to Pau…
