HazzardNet Announcements

News and Announcements regarding the website and forums, posted by the Admin.

  1. Started by Meadowmufn,

I am creating a new membership group for veteran members that will allow them special privileges, such as being able to upload larger images, adding attachments to PMs, and extending the window for editing posts to 60 minutes instead of just 10 minutes. To join this group, you will have to meet certain criteria, such as being a member for over 2 years or having more than 100 posts. In addition, you must request to join the group. It will not be automatic. I will post more information as I get ready to roll this feature out. So, veteran members of HazzardNet, are there any other perks you would like that I may be able to add to the Veteran member group? -Mufn

  2. Started by MaryAnne,

Hey y'all, just wanted to let ya know that we'll be conducting maintenance on our forums tonight between 7pm and 10pm Pacific time (10pm - 1am Eastern). So the forums will be unavailable during that time. Thank y'all for your patience and you'll know as soon as we're back up and running again. This maintenance should help cut down on the recent rash of spam we've had lately. Thank y'all for your patience and we'll resume our usual shenanigans shortly. Khee!

  3. Started by MaryAnne,

Our forums will be down for maintenance tonight at 11pm Pacific/2am Eastern, probably for a few hours. The forums will also be down tomorrow night (Saturday) at the same time for any follow up maintenance. Thank you for your patience!

  4. Started by Meadowmufn,

I have finished migrating to the new forum software. Welcome to the new forums. Excuse the dust as I get some of the kinks out and continue to tweak the look and feel. Not everything tranferred as smoothly as I'd hoped, so you may have to re-do signature pics or avatars. If you find any anomalies, please PM me or post here about them so I can investigate. Thanks!

  5. Started by Meadowmufn,

Howdy, folks! I will be attempting a software update on the forums this weekend, most likely Saturday. If all goes well, we'll have spiffy new forums. If all doesn't go well, I'll be rolling back to the current forums software. Wish me luck! I'm going to need it.

  6. Started by Meadowmufn,

I updated the forum software today. If you find any weirdness, post about it in this topic so I can check it out.

  7. Started by Meadowmufn,

I'm planning on updating the forum software this weekend, April 8th. It might be unavailable for a short while.

  8. Started by Meadowmufn,

Folks, we'll be upgrading the forum software within the next week. The forum will look quite a bit different and might take some getting used to, but it can't be helped. Our current software will soon no longer be supported and the new software is supposed to be more secure. We appreciate your patience as we transition to the new forum. I'll post specific dates/times when we're ready for the upgrade.

  9. Started by Meadowmufn,

I'm going to be changing things up in the forums here and I want your input on a few things: 1) Are there any sub-forums you'd like to be removed? They will be archived, not deleted. 2) Are there any sub-forums you think we can merge? (I'm thinking Latest News and Dukes of Hazzard News to start...) 3) Which sub-forums do you use the most and would like to be moved near the top? Feel free to post a list of the way you think the sub-forums should be listed top to bottom. That's it to start. I'll be posting some more questions for input later.

  10. Started by Meadowmufn,

Well, the forums got hacked again. Thanks to Verve Hosting for the quick turnaround on loading the last good database backup. I think we only lost a few hour's worth of posts. I would suggest that all of you change your passwords, just in case. Meadowmufn

Howdy, all! I did an upgrade of the forums tonight. If you notice any weirdness (in terms of software behavior, that is), please report it to us so we can investigate and fix it. Thanks! Nel

  12. Believe it or not, we actually finished a project around here! Our FAQ page has been updated with more Dukes of Hazzard facts. The topics were taken from the scores of email questions we've received over the years. We've also thrown in a couple little-known tidbits and included a brief history of DukesFest. This ain't as robust as the tough stuff that runs on the Trivia thread, but it's a good overview of the popular topics. HazzardNet FAQ

  13. Howdy ya'll ! Just a quick reminder, that HazzardNet does not permit solicitation of it's members through the forums. In other words, if you wanna have a link exchange with us - fantastic, but go through the proper channels. Email us at: Webmaster@hazzardnet.com . This will give us a chance to check out yer website, and see if we are companionable. Otherwise, the forums could turn into one big run of classified ads, and that's not the idea. Newsworthy stuff, like links to Dukes-related articles n' such, are okay. We totally welcome that and appreciate it. What makes HazzardNet unique is that content comes from everybody. And in turn, we do all we can to protect t…

  14. Started by Meadowmufn,

Guess who turned 20 years old on January 11th? Completely slipped my mind. I started HazzardNet on 1/11/1999. I want to thank everyone who has helped make HazzardNet what it is and who've stuck with me all these years. I know I haven't been around much lately due to health issues and stress from work, so I'm incredibly grateful so many of you are still here keeping the spirit of the Dukes alive.

  15. Started by Meadowmufn,

Grumble, grumble. I know you guys haven't seen me around much lately, but I've been here, in the background, putting out fires and restarting the server a bazillion times (it seems). So, if you've smelled any smoke around HazzardNet, that was me! LOL. For quite some time, I've been trying to track down some issues with the new server that have been driving me nuts. If any of you notice any slowness on the site, error messages, etc, please post about them here. If you can PM me and copy/paste any error messages you get, I'd appreciate that, too. I *think* I may have fixed the latest issue that was filling up the hard disk with errors (fingers crossed), but I'm not sure yet…

  16. Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but are there any plans for a HazzardNet app for mobile (phone/tablet/etc.)?

  17. Started by Meadowmufn,

We added a new classified ads section to HazzardNet. If you have anything to sell or are looking for particular items, post an ad! http://www.hazzardnet.com/classifieds/

  18. Started by Meadowmufn,

Some of you may have noticed HazzardNet was down for a few hours today. The database wouldn't come up. Fixed it though. I bet Enos unplugged something important to plug in the coffeemaker. He didn't even leave me any donuts from the Busy Bee.

  19. Started by Meadowmufn,

I did something I might end up regretting. I started a HazzardNet discussion group on Facebook. Are any of you on FB and want to be a moderator in the group? Ask to join the group and PM me your name and HazzardNet username. I'm only looking for veteran HazzardNet folks at the moment.

  20. Started by Meadowmufn,

Howdy folks! If you're on Facebook, you can now become a fan of HazzardNet. Just check out our Facebook page or the Facebook Fans page we set up here at HazzardNet. Also, if you are on Twitter, you can catch all our Facebook activity and tweets at http://twitter.com/hazzardnet

  22. Started by Brian Coltrane,

A lot of folks help keep an eye on this place, and sometimes we're not recognizing them like we should. Tonight I'm givin' a big ol' HazzardNet Hollar to Val Strate, for reporting a spammer in our Forums. Val, thank ya for finding the problem and going the extra step of notifying us about it. Sal-ute ! It's good citizens like you who help keep HazzardNet safe and enjoyable for all.

  23. Started by Meadowmufn,

Someone who shall remain nameless (but enjoys a good beer ) recently asked if there was any merch they could buy to support HazzardNet. I have affiliate links around the site, but I didn't have any specific HazzardNet merch. Well, I made some. So far, there's a t-shirt, coffee mugs, and a beer glass for you-know-who. If you'd like to support HazzardNet and get some neat merch, you can buy here: https://hazzardnet-shop.fourthwall.com/

  24. As ya'll know, we promote all things Dukes of Hazzard. Not just one cast member, but all of 'em. We do our best to keep ya updated on everybody's appearances and projects. We try to be as fair and balanced as possible in this respect. One of the ways we keep promoting the Dukes of Hazzard, is by reminding the programming directors and media producers that there IS a big Dukes of Hazzard fan base. One of the ways we can show that, is by Facebook "Likes." Since so many big companies are taking Facebook very seriously, we've had to do the same. By no means are we slowing down our main site here. But a boost in our FB numbers will help as we pursue the release of "Enos…
